Ivanka Marie Yael Trump who was born on October 30, 1981 is an American businesswoman and former fashion model. She is the daughter of real estate developer and President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump and former model Ivana Trump. She is the Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions at her father's company, the Trump Organization, where her work is focused on the company's real estate and hotel management initiatives.


Ivanka Trump was born in Manhattan, New York City, to American business magnate Donald Trump and his first wife, Ivana (née Zelníčková), an athlete, model, and socialite originally from Czechoslovakia. The name Ivanka is a diminutive form of Ivana. Trump's parents divorced in 1991, when she was nine years old. She has two brothers, Donald Jr. and Eric; a half sister, Tiffany; and a half brother, Barron. Trump attended the Chapin School in Manhattan until she was 15, when she transferred to Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut, where she characterized its "boarding-school life" as like a "prison", while her "friends in New York were having fun".

After graduating from Choate, she attended Georgetown University for two years, then transferred to the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, from which she graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in economics in 2004.

Trump speaks English and French. Unlike her brother Donald Jr., she has only elementary knowledge of her mother's native language, Czech.

Actress, Mercy Johnson has opened up on the challenges she faced as a dark skin colored actress.

In a chat with Saturday Beats, she revealed that some movie producers did not give her slots in their production because of her dark complexion.

“It is very true that when I was starting out in the movie industry, it was difficult to get roles because of my complexion. I faced that a lot and I tell people that my success is just grace. Somebody once told me that I am too dark but that is where the grace and favour of God comes in.

Regardless of everything, most of the dark-skinned actresses that are my contemporaries made it,” she said.

The actress who has featured in scores of movies told Saturday Beats that it would be unfair of anyone to say she features in any movie without any consideration.

“It is not true that I pick just any movie role. People are different and what appeals to one person might not appeal to the other. One of my most popular movies is ‘Dumebi Goes to School’ and I know how many actresses rejected that script before I accepted to do it. That movie has been one of the highest selling movies in Nollywood till date. I think it is not fair for anyone to say I just jump on any movie production. As human beings, our strength is in our diversity and differences; this means that what you call trash might not be trash to someone else. I select my scripts and I work with all of my heart because acting is my passion.

When I read a script and it appeals to me, I have fun while I do it,” the actress said.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is an examination board that conducts the West African Senior School Certificate Examination<, for University and Jamb entry examination in West Africa countries.

Established in 1952, the council has contributed to education in Anglophonic countries of West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Gambia), with the number of examinations they have coordinated, and certificates they have issued. They also formed an
endowment fund, to contribute to the education in West Africa, through lectures, and aid to those who cannot afford education.

Dr. Adeyegbe, former HNO of WAEC Nigeria (2004) said "the council has developed a team of well-trained and highly motivated staff, and has administered Examinations that are valid and relevant to the educational aspirations of member countries". In a year, over three million candidates registered for the exams coordinated by WAEC. The council also helps other examination bodies (both local and international) in coordinating Examinations.


History

The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, University of London School Examinations Matriculation Council and West African Departments of Education met in 1948, concerning education in West Africa. The meeting was called to discuss the future policy of education in West Africa. At the meeting, they appointed Dr. George Barker Jeffery (Director of the University Of London Institute Of Education) to visit some West African countries, so as to see the general education level and requirements in West Africa. At the end of Jeffery's three month visit (December 1949- March 1950) to Ghana, the Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria, he tendered a report (since known as Jeffery report) strongly supporting the need for a West African Examination Council, and making detailed recommendations on the composition and duties of the Council. Following this report, the groups met with the governments of these countries, and they agreed on establishing a West African Examination council, fully adopting Jeffery's recommendations.

The Establishment of the Council The legislative assemblies of Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and the Gambia passed an ordinance (West African Examinations Council Ordinance NO. 40) approving the West African Examination Council in Dec 1951. The Ordinance agreed to the coordination of exams, and issuing of certificates to students in individual countries by the West African Examination Council. Liberia later issued their ordinance in 1974, at the annual meeting held in Lagos, Nigeria. After the success of forming an examination council, the council called a first meeting in Accra, Ghana on March 1953. In the meeting, the registrar briefed everybody about the progress of the council. In that same meeting, five committees were formed to assist the council. These committees are: Administrative and Finance Committee, School Examinations Committee, Public Service Examinations Committee, The Professional, Technical and Commercial Examinations Committee, and the Local Committee. The total number of people present for this meeting was 26.
