Henry240: Sure, 3 Fighter types are also okay. 4 ...... And you'll have a logistical nightmare, although the J-10B looks a very potent proposition.
I think it's rated 4++ by the chinese, was offered to Argentina as a Typhoon killer.
I thought your former President, the Dictator, ordered 50 J-10s from china, was it(order) cancelled primarily because of it's shared characteristics with the F-16 block 50 or some other reason? I honestly dont know about j-10. Most likely a combination of china meeting their own demands for j-10, us getting f-16s with similar capabilities and the fact that china is developing an export stealth fighter. I wouldnt go for it. Personally i want a twin engine fighter as our front line. |

jln115: Haha was just about to say the same thing!! Anyway good thing is Aamer is still only 23, hard to believe he was banned for 5 years!!
Anyway last question, seeing we are deraling the thread a bit!!
When are we going to see international cricket back in Pakistan!! I'm getting tired of seeing Pakistan play at the same 2 venues each time in the UAE!! Wait another decade. Uae is dead. No crowd at all in tests. Anyway how many jf-17 is pakistan producing a year. Im saying cause we surely cant meet the export demand when orders come. |

Henry240: That's a potentially huge fighter fleet. Thats the minimum. We are always around the 450-500 mark for fighter jets. I believe we will probably procure more surplus f-16s since the f-35 will be replacing them. J-31 needs time. I doubt we will get j-10 cause its too similar to f-16 block 50. |

jln115: Aaahhh!! Hopefully he doesn't bowl any no-bowls this time....wouldn't want to get banned another 5 years!! Lets hope hes learnt his lesson. Pity about yasir shah though. Gain a bowler and lose another. Typical pakistan. |

Henry240: How many F-16s do you have? Around 80. Looks like another f-16 purchase on way for block 50. 400 are enough for us. 250 jf-17s 100 f-16s 50 j-31 minimum. You need to consider that india also has china to factor. They will never have all their fighters on our border. |

Henry240: The Nigeria Air Force has very close relationship with the Pakistani Air Force. It was always obvious that Nigeria was going to get the JF-17s.
We should procure at-least 24 jets, we are probably waiting for the trainer versions to come on stream.
The only problem i see is, Pakistan really doesn't have the credit line to support a huge Nigerian purchase. It would mean we might be getting the FC-1s instead. Its a joint venture with china. Whoever produces it, china will give the credit line. |

Henry240: 250 "3rd generation" fighters to face fleets of Indian SU-30MKIs/Mirages doesn't make any sense either. 250 fighters to face lca tejas. F-16 block 50 for mid range. J-31 will be our top line fighter. We are replacing all our f-7s and mirage first. We shall wait till china develops their top line fighters. We dont need sanctions. |

The f-5 and f-4 are 3rd gen fighters.
The latest mig-21 are 3rd gen fighters.
None are bvr capable like jf-17.
The early f-16s are not bvr capable either and they classified as 4th. |

jln115: Doesn't make sense considering it was marketed to Western countries as well! Which western countries? It was made to replace 2nd/3rd fighters in developing nations. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Sahuchak: 11:00pm On Jan 08, 2016 |
Henry240: So you can't think independently? Exactly, PAC and china can use whatever classification they want. Doesnt change the fact that our pilots say its on par with f-16c/d. Would they lie? And why would we be producing 250 fighters? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Sahuchak: 10:57pm On Jan 08, 2016 |
jln115: Not according to me.....I just quoted PAC!! Its a joint venture with china. They class jf-17 and j-10 as 3rd gen so pac does too. Its a 4th gen fighter. China skipped a generation. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Sahuchak: 10:54pm On Jan 08, 2016 |
jln115: If so! Then why are PAC classifying the JF17 as 3rd Gen? They are sticking to the chinese classification. World doesnt revolve around the west for us. |

Biggest reason pakistan developed jf-17 with china is there is no worry of sanctions.
We can do whatever we like with it including improving it to 4.5 gen by including aesa radar etc.
Nigeria will have no worries of china or pakistan sanctioning nigeria cause of western pressure.
If nigeria want they can also produce locally. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Sahuchak: 10:42pm On Jan 08, 2016 |
The block 2 is 4th gen fighter for pakistan.
Latest J-10b is 4.5 gen. |

Hi guys,
Im from pakistan.
Just read that people are calling jf-17 3rd gen.
It is chinese 3rd gen which is equivalent to 4th gen.
The chinese also consider j-10 3rd gen.
They skipped a generation. |
