Once again, i congratulate all the newly admitted students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka (UNIZIK). I know a lot of you are currently eager to start rushing down to school to start processing your admission. Well, that’s right and nice but on a personal opinion I think you should wait till next week Monday as the E- clearance module is yet to be updated on the university website. After admission, what follows next is clearance and accommodation enquiries. Questions are already been asked by many of you about the best possible place to live in consideration of many factors like price, comfort and security. Mind you, your success here is like 90% dependent on your choice of lodge. Therefore I found it necessary to enlighten you on issues relating to school accommodation based on personal experience and research. Be reminded however that in making your choice you must first ask and answer these questions yourself; 1. What kind of family do I come from? Rich/poor, disciplined/anything goes. 2. What is my aim on campus? To succeed/fail 3. What kind of person do I want o be tomorrow? Bad/good 4. What is my discipline level? Easily influenced/ highly principled 5. Can I stay with someone without problems? Yes/no 6. Do I want to be a victim of campus violence and vices? Yes/no Now that you are done answering these questions, you should know that Unizik is divided into Temporary site, Permanent Site and other places. For what is worth, the Vice Chancellor prefers University Hostels, Emelda Hostel and Holy Family Youth Village Hostels to others. This is because these areas are closer to the authorities and better secured. Apart from these places, another location preferable is permanent site (Ifite precisly). Other accomodation locations are Amansea, Regina, Temp Site, Eke-Awka side etc. Temp site is characterized is full of fun, flexing and enjoyment. Permanent site has all of this plus safety, proximity to school, conducive and academic friendly. SCHOOL HOSTEL The school hostel is made up of female and male blocks. Each of them has two apartments. Each room accomodates four persons. Water supply is constant as well as electricity. In fact you have every reason to make a first class here. It is located within the university as security and your comfort are guaranteed. All new students intending to live here must hurry up as the hostels rooms are almost fully booked. PROCESS OF SECURING A ROOM AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSTELS 1. you must be admitted to study in UNIZIK 2. Pay your acceptance fee and come with a proof of payment to the portals office 3. After confirmation of available spaces, proceed to either Fidelity/First bank and purchase the hostel form at the cost of N350 only. 4. Fill the form and return it back for receive your room allocation 5. After being allocated a room, proceed to the designated banks and pay the sum of N30,000 only (Hostel Rent) and N1,500 (Hostel Dues). Hostels rents payment shall end on 3rd November 2014 for you guys EMELDA HOSTEL This hostel makes you whatever you desire to be here on campus. There is constant water supply, you stay three in a highly spacious room and you don’t have to do the cleaning and maintenance. The rules here are simple and straight like that of the school hostel and it is located within the university with proximity to Faculties of Law, Management Sciences, Departments of Economics and Mass Communication respectively. PROCESS OF SECURING A ROOM AT EMELDA • You must be admitted to study in UNIZIK • Verifiy vacant rooms • Go to Fidelity Bank and get a form at the cost of N1,500 only • Secure a room • Go back to the bank and pay N75,000 only (Accommodation and Maintenance) • Pay N9000 for new foam and pillows HOLY FAMILY YOUTH VILLAGE This is an ideal hostel for any success mindful student. It has the best facilities ever, security with a police post and CCTV, and is known for high morals, spiritual and academic discipline. There are buses available for your transportation, two persons stay in a highly spacious room with bed and mattresses, wardrobes, bookshelves etc. Also, a 24-hour water supply and constant electricity, full sporting facility and pitches for basketball, football, baseball e.t.c are all available here.So you see, if you desire comfort and success, you must think of Holy Family. It is a catholic owned and managed hostel but it accomadates persons from other denominations. PROCESS OF SECURING A ROOM AT HOLY FAMILY • You must be admitted to study in UNIZIK • Pay N750 registration fee at the Holy Family office • Pay N350 for your identity card • Go to any catholic hospital and get medical certificate • Letter of recommendation from your parish priest or pastor • Sign the rules and regulations form • Proceed to the bank and pay N65,000 only for your accommodation. OTHER PLACES You are free to explore accommodation outside any of the described places but do well to inquire about the security in the area. Note that cost of living off campus is rather on a high side and that has been the greatest challenge of every Zikite. However, efforts are already in place to reduce rent charges off campus. You can also house someone in need or share a room with another person off campus. Furthermore, remember that where you live does not show the strength of your wealth, it is in the size of your brain so please keep away from all hostels placed under embargo by the current Students' Leadership. Also, all admitted students who have no place to check in while waiting for an accommodation can contact me and members of my team as we are ready to give you shelter till you get yours regardless of your gender. |
UPDATE ON 2014/2015 UNIZIK REGULAR ADMISSIONS We have observed that some aspirants are depressed because they were not congratulated (admitted) after they checked their admission status on the university's website. Therefore we find it necessary to disclose the following: 1. The admission lists have been uploaded. It was never done alphabetically. 2. If you checked your status and 'Admission Process Still in Progress' was displayed, kindly keep on checking because additional lists MAY BE uploaded. 3. That you were admitted on Jamb website is NEVER a guarantee that you will be admitted via the school website. This is because the university authorities had earlier disowned the lists uploaded on Jamb website and described the lists (Jamb lists) as handwork of a fraudster. 4. If you have been admitted via the school website, note that you can only print your admission letter from JAMB site when instructed to do so by the university. This means that if you are not admitted via the school website, never waste your money purchasing Jamb admission letter printing scratch card. 5. 2014 E-clearance module is not yet activated on the university website as at the time of filing this report but note that all physical clearances are expected to kick off on Monday 27th October, 2014 so endeavor to pay your acceptance and biometric verification fees as soon as possible and complete your E-clearance immediately it's module is activated on the university website to avoid THE UNKNOWN. Below are some evidences showing that not only departments that have 'A' as their first alphabet were uploaded on the school website. These evidences also show that the uploading was done comprehensively and not alphabetically. 1. An Open Letter To CBN Why is it that good things don’t last in Nigeria? A question even I the composer of this open letter don’t know the answer. Few years ago banks was charging 100 naira for withdrawing from another bank ATM machine, Please how is it a crime to withdraw from another bank ATM machine? CBN gave an order to commercial banks to stop such act because knew it was a criminal act. Its only in this country that someone will wake up (waking up with left hand as they said) and impose a fine on the masses; why on earth will CBN order the commercial banks to deduct 65 naira from ones account just because someone withdraw from another bank? Or maybe the 65 naira charge will be for the cure of EBOLA or to bring back our girls. I know CBN reason for cashless society is for their own selfish interest because I know as long as am a Nigeria, living in Nigeria we Nigeria don’t do what we won’t have interest in return. The 65 naira charges will automatically make some criminals (I never mentioned any one’s name oooo) rich in the name of helping the nation. Even the so called ATM machines in Nigeria is not that satisfactory compare to other developed Africa countries. its only a Nigeria ATM machines that will debit you without paying you, some will reverse or you have to go into the bank and fill a form then wait for days before it reverse. How can someone that is having an emergency of life and deaths make use of Nigeria ATM machines and the CBN is not doing anything to ease the situation rather they wont 65 naira of poor citizens. Most of the time you go to withraw and the yeye ATM machines will be out of service. let me rest my case here |

Becoming a likable person is one of the most important of all personal attributes. Likable people have more friends, enjoy better relationships, are more likely to advance in their careers, have more influence and live happier lives. The logic is simple: people are subconsciously drawn to people who are likable. All the great teachers of personal achievement from Napoleon Hill to Anthony Robbins have talked about the importance of creating a likable personality. Dale Carnegie’s famous book, How to Win Friends and Influence People is one of the best books on the subject and his teachings live on today. Being likable can help build a positive brand for yourself. Your brand is how the world sees you. It’s the feeling others get when they think about you. Just as Apple is a brand, so do you. The brand you build for yourself has a direct impact on the value you bring to your friendships, family and to the marketplace once you start working. Becoming more likable is simple. All it requires of you is to be intentional about doing the little things that will make people like and respect you. Your Likability Factor Self-test If your friends and family were to rank you on the likability scale (1–10) what would they say? Be honest now. How likable are you? How do you treat your classmates, including those you would not consider to be your favorites? Are you nice, courteous and respectful? Do you speak poorly of people behind their backs? When speaking with other people, are you genuinely engaged and interested in what they have to say or are you more interested in what you have to say? Does your smile communicate an authentic interest in the other person? When your friends are speaking, are you patient? Do you let them finish before responding? Will you get in the back seat of the car so your friend can sit in the front seat? Will you pitch in for gas money when your friend driving without having to be asked? Do you accept responsibility when you are wrong? Do you show respect for people’s time by always being punctual for your appointments? Do you avoid complaining when things displease you? Do you say please when asking people to do something for you, even if they are being paid to do it? Do you offer your sincere appreciation to those who have done something to help you, even if it’s not required of them? Are you friendly in your emails and text messages? Are you complimentary of others? Do you encourage others when given the opportunity? When having dinner at a friend’s home, do you pitch in and help do the dishes? Do you practice humility or do you brag about yourself? Do you listen more than you talk? Do you offer a heartfelt apology, without excuses, when you have offended someone? Do you make people feel comfortable when they are around you? Do you try to maintain a positive attitude at all times? How did you do? Are there areas where you need improvement? Each one of these points represents choices you make. Being likable is about being unselfish and doing the little things to connect with people and show you care. Being Intentional As you go about your daily routine, start paying attention to the things you do and don’t do when communicating and interacting with others in person, online, and over the phone. As you review your daily encounters, look for ways you can increase your likability and become a person who attracts others. When you do the little things to connect with people, your relationships will improve and you will have greater influence at home, at school and at work. |

Dear MTN Nigeria, How are you and how is your family? I hope everybody is fine. I picked my pen from the ocean of resentment and fury to write this letter to you. We were all full of joy upon your arrival in this country last ten years, when Obasanjo told us that you came that we might make calls and make them more abundantly. We all left govt owned tele-companies and followed you even at the expense of the indigenous Econet wireless. As days went into weeks and weeks into months then to years, you brought out your real colours to us, you even told us to leave GLO that is being owned by some of our corrupt govt officials of which some ofus did. At a time we couldn't differentiate between you and baba Ijebu because you kept telling us to recharge only 200naira and win recharge cards. From recharge cards you went to mobile phones, mobile phones to electronics, electronics to 1million, 1million to cars, the one that annoyed us most is that you told us to recharge only 200naira and win AEROPLANE, hei!!!!. Some of your kinsmen came to our aid; Etisalat, visafone, starcomms, rainbownet but out of your greed and jealousy you chased some of them to extinction with promises of free credits and free browsing. Truly, you gave us credits and free browsing, but it was like giving us shoes and taking the feet from us because you couldn't upgrade your server to carry these. NCC mandated you to stop all promos and upgrade your systems, you heeded to the instructions but not up to a reasonable time. You are back again with free credits and sms which we didn't ask you of. I and my brethren are pleading with you tosuspend every promo you have for us this yuletide and focus more on the upgrading of your systems. And please help us extend this plea to yourkinsmen; GLO, ETISALAT, AIRTEL. THANKS. |
