HealthAnambra Health Workers Set For Strike As Soludo’s Aides Muzzle The Truth by saints4real(op): 10:34am On Sep 02, 2025
By Ekene Oramalu

For months, tension has been simmering within the Anambra State health sector. Nurses, midwives, laboratory scientists, pharmacists, and other allied professionals say their voices have been muffled, their concerns ignored, and their pleas met with indifference. At the centre of the dispute is Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, whose aides are accused of shielding him from the reality of their suffering and painting a misleading picture of stability in the sector.

The workers argue that the picture presented to the governor is far removed from the truth. According to them, healthcare professionals in Anambra live in penury, abandoned by the same government that should protect and empower them, while their colleagues in other states enjoy better conditions already approved by the Federal Government. With frustration mounting, the workers have set a firm date: on 4th September 2025, unless their demands are met, a total strike will commence across the state.

They insist that when this action begins, it will not be the workers alone who suffer the consequences but ordinary citizens, fathers, mothers, children, who depend on the health system daily. Responsibility, they maintain, will rest squarely with the governor and those aides accused of misrepresenting the true state of affairs.

*A History of Broken Promises and Silence*

The grievances of health workers in Anambra are not new, nor are they extravagant. They are demands tied to conditions of service already recognised by the Federal Government of Nigeria and implemented in most states for more than five years. Some of these benefits have since been reviewed upward by as much as 25 percent. Yet in Anambra, workers remain stuck, pleading cap in hand for entitlements others already take for granted.

The timeline of broken promises, union leaders say, tells its own story. On 6th January 2025, the first 15-day ultimatum given to the government expired. Instead of action, the unions were invited to dialogue with the Commissioner for Health. Promises were made that the resolutions would be transmitted to the governor for approval. But days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. For over seven months, there was no response, just silence.

By July 2025, frustration reached boiling point. The workers issued a second ultimatum, effective from 1st August to 15th August. Again, the Commissioner convened a meeting, but the outcome was described as shallow and unconvincing. At the expanded State Executive Council meeting, members rejected the proposals outright, viewing them as an insult to their profession.

On 20th August 2025, a third ultimatum was issued, giving the government until 3rd September to respond. Yet, once more, there was silence. With the deadline now drawing near, workers argue they have been left with no option but to proceed with industrial action.

*Demands That Are Just Clear, and Long Overdue*

The demands on the table are, according to the workers, neither excessive nor novel. Rather, they are basic conditions to ensure that health professionals can live and work with dignity. They include:

1. Full implementation of the 100% CONHESS salary structure across state and local government systems.

2. Implementation of the reviewed CONHESS table with a 25 percent upward adjustment.

3. Payment of Rural Posting Allowances for staff serving in remote areas.

4. Improved call duty, shift allowances, and hazard allowances that reflect the risks of their work.

5. Establishment of internship programmes for fresh graduates of Nursing Science and other health professions.

6. Conduct of overdue promotions in the Health Management Board (HMB) and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), with arrears settled.

7. Recruitment of additional health professionals to fill critical manpower gaps.

“These are lawful entitlements,” one union leader explained. “They are already in effect in many states. Anambra, with its wealth and human capital, should not continue to treat health workers as expendable.”

*The Cost of Government Neglect*

Anambra is not one of Nigeria’s poorest states. It is a vibrant, economically viable state with industrious people, thriving commerce, and strong markets. Yet when it comes to investing in healthcare, workers argue, the government has chosen neglect.

Despite being highly trained, many health workers in the state live in poverty. Salaries are irregular, allowances unpaid, and working conditions harsh. The result has been a steady exodus of professionals. Nurses and midwives trained in Anambra now leave in droves for Lagos, Abuja, or even outside Nigeria in search of dignity and fair pay.

This brain drain has left hospitals dangerously understaffed. Nurses are often forced to work 24-hour shifts for little pay. Midwives deliver babies without essential tools. Laboratory scientists operate without sufficient reagents. The outcome is a health system stretched to breaking point.

“When conditions deteriorate to this extent, it is not only the worker who suffers,” said another senior health official. “It is every patient who walks through the hospital doors. The system collapses, and lives are placed at risk.”

*Allegations Against Aides*

Central to the workers’ grievances are accusations that Governor Soludo’s aides have failed to communicate the true situation to him. Union leaders allege that the governor is being misled by lieutenants who portray calm and satisfaction within the health sector while workers languish.

“The aides are not serving him well,” said a union communiqué. “They are shielding him from the truth, pretending all is well, while hospitals decay and health workers despair. In failing us, they are failing him, and ultimately failing the people of Anambra.”

*Potential Impact of the Strike*

If the strike begins as planned on 4th September, health services across Anambra will be paralysed. Public hospitals, primary health centres, and state-owned facilities will shut down. Emergency care, maternal health services, and routine outpatient care will all be disrupted.

Union leaders warn that this action is not a bluff. It will be total, and its impact will be devastating. Patients will be turned away. Pregnant women will suffer delays in delivery. Children could die from preventable conditions. History, the workers caution, will record that silence triumphed over justice.

*The Way Forward*

Despite the looming crisis, health professionals insist the dispute can still be resolved. The solution, they say, lies in immediate government action:

Implement the CONHESS structure and allowances without further delay.
Honour outstanding promotions and recruit new staff to ease shortages.
Recognise and respect health workers as the backbone of the state’s survival.
The workers argue that these measures are within reach and require only political will. But with the strike deadline looming, they warn that time is running out.

*Survival of healthcare*

For health professionals in Anambra, the issue transcends wages. It is a fight for dignity, justice, and the survival of healthcare in the state.

“We have whispered, we have pleaded, we have written letters, and we have waited,” a union representative said. “Now we raise our voices for all to hear. The government must choose: listen to its health workers and avert disaster, or remain silent and watch the collapse of a sector upon which millions depend.”

On 4th September 2025, if nothing changes, the strike will begin. And when it does, the unions stress, no one will be able to say they were not warned. The choice, they conclude, rests firmly with Governor Soludo and his administration.

PoliticsOdumegwu Ojukwu University VC Appointment: Where Is Justice, Where Is Merit In S by saints4real(op): 12:49pm On Aug 22, 2025
By Ekene Okoye

The Anambra State government prides itself on being the “Light of the Nation”, a shining symbol of justice, fairness, and merit. Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the state’s chief advocate of reform, often stresses transparency and integrity as guiding principles of his administration. Yet, the recent appointment of Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) casts a long and troubling shadow over that claim.

At the centre of the matter is a simple, searing question: How does a government that swears by justice and merit justify bypassing the top three constitutionally recommended candidates, only to hand the role to someone who came a distant fifth?

*A Flawed Beginning*
The story begins on 18 December 2024 with a botched Senate election under the supervision of then–Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Omenugha. That exercise, meant to produce three Senate representatives for the Joint Council/Senate Selection Committee, collapsed amid allegations of irregularities. It took the intervention of Governor Soludo himself, through the Council's Chairman, for the exercise to be annulled.

The process was restarted on 9 July 2025 under close scrutiny by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, -Ngozi Chuma-Udeh. This time, observers agreed, credibility was restored. For the first time in COOU’s 25-year history, the university was on track to conduct a transparent, rigorous selection process worthy of its mandate.

That optimism peaked on 30–31 July, when seven respected members of the Selection Committee interviewed shortlisted candidates. Their scores were clear:

*Prof. Chike Osegbue (83%)

*Prof. Leonard Onuba (81%)

*Prof. Chukwudi Onyeaghana Okani (78%)

*Prof. Omenugha? She came fifth with 73%, trailing behind.

*What the Law Says*
The COOU Law of 2014 is unambiguous. Ordinance II(4)(d) stipulates that the Visitor (the Governor) must appoint the Vice Chancellor from a list of top three candidates recommended by Council, arranged in order of merit. The Council is required not only to recommend these top three but to justify the ranking, with the candidate in first place presented as the institution’s preferred choice.

On August 1, 2025, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Chairman of Council, formally transmitted the report of this transparent process to Gov Soludo. The Governor himself commended the Council’s rigorous and credible work, describing the process as “transparent and credible.”

Yet, in a stunning twist, the letter signed by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, announced that the Visitor had appointed Prof. Omenugha, ranked fifth, citing benchmarks entirely alien to the COOU Law.

*Where Is Justice? Where Is Merit?*
The question must be asked again: Where is justice? Where is merit? And, where is the enabling Law?

The three candidates who labored through a transparent process were not only qualified but ranked higher by a legally constituted Selection Committee. To disregard them and elevate someone who was not statutorily before the Visitor is not just questionable, it is unlawful.

For a government that proclaims itself as the custodian of light and meritocracy, this action casts doubt on its integrity. What example does this set for the thousands of COOU students who are taught that hard work, fairness, and merit lead to reward? What message is being sent to staff who participated in good faith in the process, only to see their voices sidelined?

*A Dangerous Precedent*
This is no trivial matter. Universities are sacred spaces of learning, where meritocracy is the bedrock of advancement. By appointing someone who came fifth, the Anambra government has set a precedent that undermines the institution’s credibility and damages its moral authority.

Already, the appointment has sparked outrage within and even outside the university community. Staff and students alike describe a sense of betrayal, mourning the loss of what had seemed like a golden opportunity to restore the university’s battered image. The COOU Collective has rejected the appointment, calling it a “flagrant abuse” of the law and urging the Visitor to reverse course.

The 2014 Visitation Panel's Report had warned against such manipulations, insisting that “all organs involved in appointing the Vice Chancellor must duly and fully comply with the provisions of the University Statute to confer legitimacy on the chosen candidate.” That advice has now been trampled upon.

*Political Interference and the Erosion of Trust*
Critics argue that this imposition reeks of political interference, reducing the university to a pawn in partisan calculations. It drags COOU back a decade in its struggle to build a reputation as a credible center of learning.

The tragedy is that this violation came precisely at the moment when COOU had, for the first time in its 25 years, conducted a process that was transparent, credible, and fair. For once, merit had spoken. But rather than listen, the state government chose to silence it.

When political power disregards institutional autonomy, the very fabric of education is compromised. How can COOU lecturers demand excellence from students when the government itself refuses to honor the principle of merit?
*Soludo’s Contradictions
Gov Soludo is no ordinary politician. A former Central Bank Governor and respected academic who has often positioned himself as a reformist leader committed to transparency and justice. Yet, in this case, his government has taken a path that contradicts those very ideals.

How can a government that brands itself as the “Light of the Nation” operate in darkness when it comes to its own university? How can a leader who rose through academic merit sanction an appointment that spits on the very idea of meritocracy?

*The Human Cost*
This is not just a bureaucratic squabble. Real people are affected. The morale of the staff who participated in the process has been shattered. Students now wonder whether their degrees carry the weight of an institution that respects the law. Alumni question whether their alma mater can continue to command national and international respect.

By appointing someone who lacks legitimacy in the eyes of the law, the government has weakened the university’s ability to attract serious scholars and global partnerships. In the long run, it is the people of Anambra, and Nigeria at large, who will pay the price.

*A Call for Reversal*
The COOU Law is clear. The process was transparent. The merit list was produced. Yet, merit was discarded.

The university community, staff, students, and alumni must resist this imposition, not out of malice toward Prof. Omenugha but out of love for the university and the principles that sustain higher education. To accept this appointment is to normalize illegality, to accept that hard work and integrity no longer matter in Anambra’s premier state university.

The state government must urgently reverse this decision and appoint the top-ranked candidate, in line with the law. Anything less is a betrayal not only of COOU but of the ideals that Anambra claims to uphold.

*Light or Darkness* ?
This episode forces a painful reckoning. Will Anambra remain the “Light of the Nation,” shining as an example of justice and merit? Or will it sink into the murky waters of political convenience, where rules are bent and institutions hijacked?

In the case of COOU, the path is clear: justice demands that the law be obeyed, and merit must prevail. Anything else is darkness masquerading as light.

The students of COOU deserve better. The staff deserve better. Anambra deserves better.

If the Soludo administration cannot uphold justice in the appointment of a Vice Chancellor, how can it be trusted to uphold justice anywhere else?

The future of education in Anambra hangs in the balance. The question remains: Gov Soludo, where is justice? Where is merit?

As the memories of President Bola Tinubu’s recent state visit to Anambra State still keep reverberating as a resounding success, the urge for a contemplative reflection on the mastermind behind the event is irresistible.

Ever cloaked in his inspiring simplicity by demeanour and dressing, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, today stands tall in being a catalyst of regional progress and egalitarianism, a selfless subnational leader who could pull chestnuts of progressive commitments out of the overburdened hands of a Federal Government.

He offered prayers that the church would continue to be a place of joy, hope, and resurrection love for the people.

A parishioner known as Ike Jerusalem echoed the communal joy, emphasizing that the foundation of the church is rooted in divine faithfulness. “I’m grateful to God for what He has done for the people of Umuawulu and the Catholic family. This is a testament to His faithfulness.”

Another parishioner, Nweke David Olisa, the C.E.O Olisa Global lnternational, a merchant on Solar panels technologies, described the day as “wonderful.” He noted that unity among the faithful played a key role in bringing the vision to life. “Givers never lack, and as missionaries, our work will continue to be for the fulfilment of God’s agenda, assisting the poor and elevating lives.”

In support, Chief Chukwudi Joseph Ezegbudo, popularly known as Okwuloka and a Knight of St. John lnternational, shared his emotions, describing the project as a dream fulfilled. He commended the parish leadership for their persistence and spiritual guidance, praying for increased wisdom among parishioners.

Mr. Dozie Okpala, a major donor to the ministry, used the opportunity to encourage Christians to follow the example of Christ, as exemplified by Pope Francis. His support was a pillar in the realization of the building project.

Lolo Nwakaego Josephine Idikata (née Ndubuisi) added a personal reflection: “Today’s occasion remains indelible in my memory. It’s a thing of joy to usher in renewed hope and faith.” She also prayed for continued grace upon the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Odika.

A major highlight of the event was the recognition of Mrs. Theresa Okafor Ufele, a dedicated parishioner known for her commitment to cleanliness and maintenance of the church premises. She received a cash award exceeding ₦1 million from both the parish priest and members of the congregation, in recognition of her service.

The dedication of St. Joseph Catholic Church not only marks a physical transformation but also signals a new chapter of spiritual and communal growth for the people of Umuawulu.

His optimism reflects a deep conviction in the governor's vision and leadership, which he describes as transformative and rooted in the core values of sustainable development.

In his message, the former chairman emphasized the need for unity among party loyalists, stakeholders, and key political influencers. He called for a deliberate, conscious effort to rally behind Governor Soludo—not just for the sake of the party, but for the advancement of the entire state. PoliticsAnambra 2025: Over 60 Support Groups Rally Behind Governor Soludo’s Re-election by saints4real(op): 1:34am On Apr 08, 2025
By Ifeanyi Ndukwe (Saint), Awka

In a grand show of solidarity, over 60 support groups gathered yesterday at the International Convention Center, Awka, to endorse the second-term bid of Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

The event, which attracted political office holders, senatorial aspirants, local government chairmen, councilors, civil servants, security personnel, and key stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), marked a significant turning point in the build-up to the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election.

In a heartfelt moment, the support groups jointly presented a symbolic N30 million donation—representing the governorship ticket fee—in support of Soludo’s second-term ambition. The gesture was met with visible emotion from the governor, who described the act as deeply moving and inspiring.

“This is quite emotional for me,” Soludo said. “Seeing petty traders, widows, and struggling citizens come together to support me financially is overwhelming. It shows that our collective vision for a livable and prosperous Anambra is taking root.”

Reflecting on his March 17, 2022, inaugural speech, Soludo reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy across the state. He thanked the people for their unwavering support and reaffirmed his dedication to impactful governance.

Speaking to journalists at the event, the Special Adviser on Political Matters, Dr. Obi Obiogbolu, described the gathering as a strategic move to build momentum for the governor’s re-election campaign.

“This event signals the people’s trust in Soludo’s legacy-driven leadership,” he said. “He has become a light in the tunnel for the people of Anambra.”

Commissioner for Finance and SYMON convener, Mr. Izuchukwu Okafor, praised the governor’s fiscal prudence and governance style, stating: “Governor Soludo has achieved remarkable feats without borrowing a dime. His leadership is both visionary and accountable.”

Also present was Engr. Chukwuemeka Julius, Team Lead of the Soludo Fans Club, who expressed pride in the administration’s growing popularity both within and outside Nigeria.

“Under the Solution Mantra, Anambra is witnessing unprecedented growth and development,” Julius said.

The colorful event featured musical performances, presentations by support groups, photo sessions, and a resounding call for Governor Soludo to continue his transformational leadership in a second term.

By Ifeanyi Ndukwe, Awka

It was a bright and hopeful morning in Awka, the heartbeat of Anambra State. The sun beamed down on the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square as a league of delegates from the twenty-one local government areas of the state streamed in. Laughter echoed, handshakes were exchanged, and the atmosphere bore the weight of purpose—a shared determination to chart the next course for Anambra's future.

The day was historic. The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) was holding its primary elections, and at the heart of the gathering was one name, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the incumbent governor and a man whose leadership had captured the imagination of many. The crowd, electric with excitement, knew they weren’t just endorsing a candidate. They were voting for continuity, for transformation, and for a vision that had begun bearing fruit.

The voting exercise, organized with precision and transparency, kicked off at 11 a.m. and continued methodically till 4 p.m. Under the keen supervision of INEC officials, 3,175 votes were cast. Of those, only four were deemed invalid, a testament to the seriousness of the process and the clarity of choice. When the final count came in, a total of 3,168 valid votes in favor of Governor Soludo, the cheers that erupted were deafening. Soludo had secured the APGA ticket for a second term.

Dressed in his signature Akwaete cloths and beaming with humility, the governor approached the podium to receive the ticket. His voice rang clear as he addressed the sea of supporters:

“I am most happy to be nominated for a second term run for the office of the governor of our dear state. This is a clear indication that everyone is happy with the work in progress. And we will continue to do more to make Anambra the envy of other states.”

His words resonated deeply. For many, it wasn't just a political statement. It was a reaffirmation of faith, progress, and hope.

Among the cheering crowd stood Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, Chairman and CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Industries. A man known for his entrepreneurial spirit and deep commitment to the community, Onunkwo’s words carried the weight of both admiration and conviction:

“What Governor Soludo has done in the past three years is marvelous. Even the blind can see the transformation. He is a miracle worker.”

High Chief Dr. Azubike Ekweozor (IDE Global), known for his philanthropic work and grassroots empowerment, described the day’s process as a symbol of unity:

“Soludo’s administration has maintained a success pattern. His performance speaks louder than any campaign slogan.”

The AMTY Philanthropist of the Year awardee echoed; “This process shows unity and purpose. Governor Soludo has not only promised change. He has delivered it.”

IDE Global’s voice was one of many from the grassroots and elite alike who viewed the Soludo administration as a model of leadership that balances vision with execution.

Chief Dr. Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo (ONYE NDOZI), another prominent stakeholder and politician eulogised the efforts of the Solution administrationin positioning the state in aura of significant development. His call was a rallying cry for collective responsibility:

“Let us continue to support Governor Soludo. Together, we can build a greater Anambra. We need synergy, transparency, and unwavering faith in our democratic process.”

Indeed, the celebration was not merely about a victory in a primary election. It was a manifestation of a collective belief in leadership that delivers. The APGA family had spoken and with one voice, they endorsed continuity, competence, and character.

With the APGA ticket secured, Governor Soludo stands poised to continue his mission of transforming Anambra. But the journey isn’t his alone. As the November 2025 elections draw near, the call is out to every goodspirited Anambra citizen to support the vision, protect the progress, and shape the future.

Politics2027 Guber Elections: APGA Gears Up To Challenge APC In Ebonyi State by saints4real(op): 12:46am On Feb 23, 2025
By lfeanyi Ndukwe, Awka

Ebonyi State — With an eye on the 2027 gubernatorial elections, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has intensified efforts to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State. In a bold move over the weekend, APGA’s South East Regional Officers, led by Rev. Austin Ehimere, joined forces with the party's state leadership to launch a Statewide Membership Drive aimed at expanding its grassroots presence.

The event, held in a strategic location within the state, marked the beginning of what APGA describes as a “calculated march toward victory.” Addressing party executives from the 13 Local Government Areas, ward representatives, and stakeholders, Rev. Ehimere declared the party’s readiness to take the reins of power in 2027.

"APGA is fully prepared to take over Ebonyi State in 2027," Ehimere asserted. "Our strategy is clear—mobilization, expansion, and engagement. What we narrowly missed in 2023, we will secure this time."

He praised the national leader of APGA and Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his transformative leadership, emphasizing that the party’s blueprint for success in Ebonyi will mirror Soludo’s governance model in Anambra.

The party is not only focused on political mobilization but also on tackling pressing security concerns in Ebonyi and the South East at large. Ehimere revealed plans to establish community policing, strengthen intelligence-sharing among security agencies, and restore public trust—initiatives that, according to him, will give APGA an edge over the ruling APC.

His words: "Security remains a major concern in the region, and APGA intends to address it head-on with a people-centered approach," he added.

Echoing the optimism, Ebonyi State APGA Chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Nwankwo, applauded party loyalists for their resilience despite the alleged electoral fraud in the last polls. He highlighted APGA’s notable victories which includes, securing a State Assembly seat and a House of Representatives seat as a testament to its growing influence.

"Our party has only grown stronger," Nwankwo affirmed. "The ruling party may be struggling to maintain its hold, but APGA is surging forward with renewed energy and a clear vision for Ebonyi’s future."

With the Statewide Membership Drive now in motion, APGA is banking on a grassroots revolution to turn the tide in 2027. Whether these efforts will be enough to dethrone the incumbent APC government remains to be seen, but one thing is certain; APGA is in the ring, and the fight for Ebonyi’s top political office has begun.

PoliticsGroup Calls For Effective Governance In Anambra by saints4real(op): 8:53am On Dec 19, 2024
By Ifeanyi Ndukwe, Awka

Awka, the capital city played host as a socio-economic group, 21/21 The Bedrock, rekindled its mission to champion effective governance in Anambra State. This group, known for its unwavering resolve, has pledged to ensure that Anambra is represented by capable leaders, especially at the helm of the state's affairs.

The stage for this renewed commitment was set during their inaugural meeting at Cana House, Zik’s Avenue, Awka. The event was more than a gathering; it was a clarion call to all who believe in Anambra’s future.

Hon. Chinedu Madubonwu, the State Coordinator, speaking at the occasion said;
“We stand here united, stronger than ever, to reaffirm our mission. The original pioneers of 21/21 The Bedrock are back. We will not be silent while miscreants misuse our name to mislead and deceive aspirants. Our platform is built on character, integrity, and the vision of a better Anambra.”

Madubonwu did not mince words when addressing those tarnishing the group's reputation. “We are duly registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and anyone exploiting our name for selfish gains will face justice. Our focus remains on ensuring that Anambra State is governed by the best leaders, regardless of political affiliation. We are nonpartisan and independent,” he emphasized.

Adding his voice to the call for unity was the group’s Grand Patron, Hon. Uchenna Okafor, who underscored the importance of synergy:
“Commitment and unity are the bedrock of our strength. Transparency and credibility must guide us as we strive to enhance our political system. I urge every member to remain steadfast and focus on adding value to our beloved state.”

In a poignant moment, Hon. Okafor, who recently defected to the Labour Party, shared his reasons for the move:
“My decision stems from a deep need to serve and uplift my people. Security is paramount for sustainable development. Without it, investment and growth are impossible. Anambra needs leaders who will prioritize safety and peace.”

He lamented the growing insecurity plaguing the state:
“Insecurity has become a silent plague, instilling fear and discouraging progress. We must act swiftly to protect our people and restore hope.”

The event was graced by former councilors from the state’s 326 wards, political stakeholders, and key players in the political sphere. It was a meeting of minds, united by a singular vision: an Anambra where governance is effective, inclusive, and progressive.

21/21 The Bedrock is not just a group; it is a movement, a beacon of hope for a brighter tomorrow in Anambra State.

Nairaland GeneralCMO, YOHESOR Challenge Federal University Gusau's Allegations Against Professor by saints4real(op): 6:12pm On Nov 24, 2024
By Uchenna Ezeadigwe

In a developing controversy within Nigeria's academic sphere, two organizations have come forward to defend Professor Bernard Odoh against allegations made by the Federal University Gusau (FUG) regarding his employment and professorial status. Both YOHESOR-NGO and the Concerned Members of Academia (CMA) Southeast have issued strong statements supporting Professor Odoh's legitimacy and calling for an investigation into the matter.

YOHESOR, a youth-focused NGO, released detailed findings from what they describe as a "thorough independent investigation" that supports Professor Odoh's legitimate appointment and subsequent activities at the university. According to their statement dated November 22, 2024, they have uncovered "irrefutable evidence and documents" confirming the legitimacy of Odoh's appointment, promotion, and academic activities.

The NGO outlined four key points defending Professor Odoh's position: his lawful employment in the Department of Geological Sciences, his promotion to professorship following evaluations by external assessors, his approved leave of absence to serve in Ebonyi State Government, and verified salary payment records extending to 2015.

Simultaneously, CMA Southeast has challenged the university's allegations, characterizing them as "unfounded and malicious." Their statement emphasizes that Professor Odoh's appointment was processed through proper institutional channels and complied with national academic protocols. The statement signed on behalfalf of the group by Dr. Cyril Okorocha and Dr. Emeka Ezeh noted that the controversy has raised broader questions about institutional integrity in Nigeria's higher education system. Both organizations warn that the allegations could have far-reaching implications for the credibility of Nigerian universities and their graduates.

"This issue transcends Professor Odoh," states YOHESOR's document. "It is about preserving the sanctity of our educational system." The organization argues that the allegations risk undermining public confidence in the management of federal institutions.

CMA Southeast has announced its readiness to support Professor Odoh in pursuing legal action to defend his academic reputation. They have also called for an independent, transparent investigation into the matter.

The case has sparked debate about administrative accountability in Nigerian universities, with both organizations questioning the timing and motivation behind the Registrar's allegations. YOHESOR has specifically challenged the university to explain how it justified consistent salary payments to Professor Odoh if his employment was indeed fraudulent, as alleged.

Both organizations have called for immediate intervention by relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly. They argue that the implications extend beyond individual reputation to affect the broader credibility of Nigeria's higher education system.

The Federal University Gusau has not yet responded to these latest developments. The situation continues to evolve as stakeholders await the university's official response to these counterstatements and the potential commencement of an independent investigation.

PoliticsChairman, Local Government Service Commission, Lfeanyi Ezeaka Allegedly Diverts by saints4real(op): 12:33am On Jun 30, 2024
*Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, lfeanyi Ezeaka allegedly diverts 21 LGA Anambra workers transport largess*

By lFEANYI NDUKWE, AWKA

Governor Chukwuma Soludo's N20,000 transport largess intended for forty (40) workers in each of the 21 local government areas of Anambra State last Tuesday has been allegedly diverted by Barr. Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka, Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), sparking outrage among the workers who were denied the funds.

Governor Soludo had during the opening ceremony of the maiden edition of the Local Government Service Commission week, held at the Women’s Development Center in Awka, announced the transport largess for the workers present.

He asked Barr. Ezeaka about the number of workers invited from each local government, to which Ezeaka responded 40, despite only 30 workers being invited. Nonetheless, Governor Soludo declared a transport allowance of N20,000 for each of the 40 invitees. However, discrepancies soon emerged as many workers in the hall did not receive the promised funds.

Barr. Ezeaka had claimed that the workers came on their own, even though each local government area had sponsored their members' trips. This contradiction raised suspicions about the mismanagement of the allocated resources. It was puzzling that Governor Soludo's instructions were not followed, despite the immediate provision of funds for 40 persons per local government council by Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunnwanne, the Commissioner.

Barr. Ezeaka had instructed each local government to bring 30 persons, not 40, thereby potentially profiting from the excess allocation. This manipulation amounted to a profit of N200,000 for each local government area. Despite the actual number of staff attending from each local government being between 20 to 25 persons, the Chairman did not disburse the funds to these attendees. Instead, he produced a list of designated attendees, which contradicted Governor Soludo’s directive that every staff member in the hall should receive N20,000.

Consequently, those whose names were not on Ezeaka's list but attended in place of others who were absent were denied the largess. This was particularly unjust, given that the highest attendance from any council did not exceed 25 persons.

It is worth noting that the LGSC Chairman had previously tasked each Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) to pay N200,000 in preparation for the LGSC week and later requested an additional N300,000, totaling N500,000 from each local government area. Each local government council also provided buses and entertainment for their staff. Despite these provisions, Barr. Ezeaka misrepresented the situation to Governor Soludo and denied the workers in the hall their transport funds.

Local government area workers who were denied the largess expressed their shock and disappointment. They lamented the missed opportunity to thank Governor Soludo for his generosity. Even though the total number of staff at the function was under 500, and Governor Soludo had provided for 840 persons, many did not receive the promised transport money.

We called on the Solution Government and well meaning civil groups to amplify the voice for justice.

BusinessMAN Southeast Urge FG To Subsidize Cost Of Materials, Dole Out Incentives by saints4real(op): 7:06am On Mar 29, 2024
...hails Gov.Soludo over 1b naira MoU with SMEDAN

By Uchenna Ezeadigwe, Awka

THE Chairman of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria South East, and the group Executive Director, Dozzy Group of companies Lady Ada Chukwudozie has urged the Tinubu's government to subsidize the cost of raw material for manufacturers, dole out incentives and offer solutions affecting their challenges.

Lady Chukwugozie while making the appeal at the stakeholders’ engagement forum and the unveiling of the MANSA Export Trade Platform by AFREXIM Bank which took place at the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) liaison office, in Anambra with its theme "Access to Finance & Cheaper Funding for SMEs in Nigeria and Organised by Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) equally hailed the Anambra State Governor Prof Charles Soludo for signing the Memorandum of Understanding with the Small and medium enterprises development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in the state which would grant them access to funds for increased production.

The Dozzy oil boss explained that reducing the cost of acquiring these raw materials used by Manufacturers will improve the output which will in turn increase both the manufacturers and the country's economic growth.

PoliticsGov. Soludo Immortalizes Legendary Author, Chinua Achebe, Names Airport After Hi by saints4real(op): 7:46am On Oct 07, 2023
By Saint lfeanyi Ndukwe, Awka

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo (CFR) has renamed the Anambra International and Cargo Airport, Umueri, to Chinua Achebe International Passenger and Cargo Airport.

The professor of Economics made this known during his keynote speech at the popular Alex Ekwueme Square in commemoration of the 63rd Nigerian Independence Anniversary.

Soludo appraised the courageous and moral character of the African literary giant. He said it is imminent to honour him as one of Anambra gifted hands.

Chinua Achebe is globally acclaimed as Africa's most influential writer. His classic novel Things Fall Apart, published in 1958, ranks amongst the greatest novels ever written in the world with transactions in over 1000 languages.

Achebe was the founder of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) in 1981 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where Governor Soludo was then a young student.

It needs to be stressed that Achebe was not just a writer. He was also a political critic, activist, publisher, politician, and an uncommon leader who served as the President-General (PG) of his native town union in Ogidi, Anambra State. As a national political leader, Achebe was the Vice-Chairman of Aminu Kano's Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) of the Second Republic.

During his lifetime, Achebe remained resolute in his principles of unshakable principle. He wrote the following words when he rejected the award of the high national honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) in October, 2004: "I write this letter with a very heavy heart. For some time now, I have watched events in Nigeria with alarm and dismay. I have watched particularly the chaos in my own state of Anambra where a small clique of renegades, openly boasting its connection in high places, seems determined to turn my homeland into a bankrupt and lawless fiefdom. I am appalled by the brazenness of this clique and the silence, if not connivance, of the Presidency." lnterestingly, Achebe also rejected the award when it was re-offered in 2011.

Governor Soludo's passion to turn Anambra State into a liveable and prosperous homeland that will be a destination point instead of a departure lounge has received the ultimate uplift with the naming of the Achebe International Airport.
