Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, says he feels saddened by happenings in the United States, where Donald Trump is in the saddle as President.
Soyinka, who had in 2016 threatened to shred his green card if Trump won the election and became President, remarked: “It’s one of the saddest developing phenomena that I know of.”
“I just feel very, very sad that what’s happening in the States should be happening in such a potentially progressive country,” the nonagenarian world-acclaimed writer said in a conversation with freelance arts journalist, Laura Collins-Hughes, published in the New York Times. CrystalMax: How? It's pretty easy to boycott. Produce in China, ship to a country with little tarrif, warehouse there and ship from there to the U.S.
Won't be easy in the instant but it's a simple redistribution strategy that many would employ. You are a criminal mind 😁 |

iLoveYouToo: Africa and most of Europe imports heavily from China. The will be the biggest loser if they don’t shape up. It’s only a matter of time. Harmony OS is an example Africas total import from china is 200 billion dollars, America is twice that and remains China's biggest market |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Trump Imposes 104% import tariffs On China's goods to the US by SalamRushdie: 6:54pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
sparko1: Seriously, do you even understand what this tariff means, the United States depend on China for almost everything.
Trump is trying to pull back factories that produces most of their stuff in China back to the US.
BUT, there's a good reason why they left and those reasons are way more heavier than tariffs.
1. Cheap labour, the minimum wage is going up, there's no way to get cheap labour. 2. Labour laws, the laws in the US are too strict and must be followed. 3. Regulatory agencies, this need no introduction. 4. Environmentalist and strict environmental protection policies. 5. Raw materials and it's availability. 6. Cheap alternative materials and availability. 7. Steady government policy.
These are just over a few and because I am on the move, the advantages outweigh whatever tariff he impose. Chinese industrial model depends on the American market and Trump govt knows this ..China must fold just wait and see |

AndroBlaze: China is not operating on a deficit or owing anyone money.
Trump's America cannot say the same thing. The economists advising him are pretty stupid and probably got their degrees from Oluwole. If you understand economics you realise that's the more reason china will fold , US is it's main market , china is not not US main market |
