suffered this same thing first hand in the university ,I had a room mate who all ways stays in the room all day (he course was not that hard) playing games he wont do anything always coming to eat our food claiming to be broke he even sometimes brings his friends to come and eat I and my roommates food this same guy as a student never runs out of data he uses about 3-4 perfumes I later discovered he goes to the laundry ,there was a time I needed sometimes and this guy blatantly told me no my eyes opened from that day, my sister you should be wise give to those who are in need not someone who wants to leach you to save up for something big or maintain a lifestyle they cant afford. so now the solution is either u say no to them (you have use for whatever they ask) or you all so burden them with request take caution here because they'll like to give you little things as leverage to keep leaching you so make sure u do exactly what the person I quoted suggests , finally if you are some one that takes advantage of people because of their silence pls STOP NOW la

-also about your democratic views , american and some western courntries being highly successfull in democracy which i will commend does not means the rest of the world would be equally success we all no Nigerias democr.. is a good example of the opposite . Infact 90 % of the western countries(europe) you made mention of were governed and developed in the past by monarchy/authortarian and dictatorship regimes some still even operate on partial monarchy systems till date ,
-you made mention of democracy being a means of freedom which is not accurate, freedom is a byproduct of rule of law if you follow the rules of any environment you are in then free in a sense.
-you made mention about choice ,nigerias people chioce in 2015 landed us in the problem we still ,one thing in democracy is that the masses can easily be decived by false propagadas and attractive packaging to get votes , the easiest way to give a chicken water is to put it in a colour vessel (most poultries do this) to decive the chickens.
-most politician no the longest they can rule is 8yrs so the moment they are elect is about recovery, and a mojor disadvantage of democracy is the lack of continuity so every elected leader would carry out short term goals inorder to ensure his/her reelection or if he loves the ppl so he can finish his plans for the ppl.
