North Korea has blown up a joint liaison office used for talks between itself and South Korea, the latest sign that ties between the two longtime adversaries are rapidly deteriorating.

North Korean state media reported that the four-story building, which is located in the town of Kaesong just north of the demilitarized zone that divides the two Koreas, was "completely destroyed by a "terrific explosion" at 2:50 p.m. local time.

A plume of black smoke rising above the site was visible from the South Korean side of the border shortly after.

An unidentified student of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, is on the run for trying to kill her baby she delivered last night.

The girl who's identity is yet to be known delivered a baby girl yesterday night being 6 February, 2020 in her boyfriends room at Munachi Hostel, Oko, Orumba North L.G.A as they tried to kill baby thereby throwing over the fence from the first floor of the hostel to next empty plot.

According to an eyewitness Miss Chioma who resides in the hostel says "luck ran out from them when the baby was found hanging on the barbed wire of the fence."

The baby was rescued alive by the members of the hostel and was rushed to Chukwunoso Hospital opposite the main gate of the Polytechnic.

Further investigations revealed that HND 1 student of Public Administration Department connived with his roommate to allow his girlfriend to deliver the baby in their room so that can carry out their evil machination.

The men of Oko police station have arrived at the scene of the incident. However, the boys roommate has been arrested.

The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has again insisted that Rochas Okorocha would not be issued a certificate of return.

Speaking in Awka, the Anambra State capital, Festus Okoye, INEC's Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, said the electoral agency only issues certificates to people who won elections free and fair.

INEC had refused to issue the certificate on the basis that the result for Imo West senatorial district was declared "under duress".

According to Okoye, Okorocha and three others so affected would not be issued certificates of return unless a court decides otherwise.

He said the commission's decision “does not amount to shifting goal post at the middle of a match".

He continued: “Issuance of certificates of return is a statutory function of INEC; it is only issued to those who won election and must be done through the free will of a returning officer.

“In the case of Imo West senatorial district, where Okorocha contested, the Otu-Opi Federal Constituency in Benue, Agayi State Constituency and another in Akwa Ibom; what INEC is saying is that you can’t engage in bad electoral behaviour and expect INEC to reward you with a certificate. Our certificate is only for those who won freely.

“Once we have such case, INEC will not issue certificate, but ensure that the right thing is done.

He, however, added that if the cases instituted against the commission by the affected candidates on the matter decided otherwise, INEC would comply.

At least, 11 expatriate workers and others yet to be identified have been reportedly trapped in a collapsed building in Okpuno, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The expatriates were mainly masons and tillers and other site workers who hail from the neighbouring West African countries.
The incident happened on Wednesday night and has generated a lot of tension in the industrial town of Nnewi.
The rescue workers were already at the scene trying to rescue victims, while security agents were also at the site.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed confirmed the story, stating that it happened on Wednesday.
He said nine of the expatriates had been rescued alive, while rescue workers were working assiduously to rescue the remaining two.

Within their knowledge, their experience and exposure, these first generation leaders did their best. But then, they made mistake, which led to the transition to the military era. Later, there was another transition to democracy.
“The nation has also witnessed transition from one civilian regime to another within a political party and from one political party to another. But, there is another important transition which the country requires right now; this is the transition to popular movement to give people credible alternatives. Until we are able to achieve this, we are not going anywhere.”
Obasanjo said Nigeria must harness its diversity into economic development.
He said the issue of security must not be politicised and that the country needs strong leaders.
He said: “I believe we need both strong institutions and strong leaders. If there are no strong leaders, we will not be able to build strong institutions. If strong institutions are established and our leaders are weak, those strong institutions will collapse.”
