Omoyele Sowore (born 16 February 1971) is a Nigerian human rights activist, pro-democracy campaigner and founder of online news agency, Sahara Reporters.

Sowore is an indigene of ilaje Ondo State in South West Nigeria. He was born in the Niger Delta region of the country where he was also raised in a polygamous home with sixteen children. At 12, he learnt how to ride a motorcycle so that he could fish at the lake for the entire family before going to school every morning. His passion and desire for media was propelled during the military rule in Nigeria.
Sowore studied Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Lagos from 1989 to 1995 with his academic program extended by two extra years after being expelled twice for political reasons and student activism. He was the President of the University of Lagos Student Union Government between 1992 and 1994 where he was keenly involved in anti-cultism and anti-corruption advocacy. He holds a Master degree in Public Administration from Columbia University.

On Monday morning, 10th September, 2018, he took his campaign train to Osun State as he toured the premises of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State and then to Ooni of Ife's palace.

The 6th annual AMVCA, which was held on Saturday at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos began with a red carpet at 4 p.m.
The nominees of this year’s edition were earlier announced via a televised broadcast on all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv on June 30, by Ghanaian actress and TV host, Joselyn Dumas, and Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi.
With more than 120 nominations for 27 categories, filmmakers and actors from different African countries including Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Ghana, and Nigeria attended the event.
The 6th AMVCA, which featured heavyweights in the movie industry on the continent, saw them battle it out in all 27 categories.
AMVCA is an annual event by Multichoice and Africa Magic, which recognises and honours film and television talents across the African continent.
Winners emerge through votes by members of the public.

After several complaints made by the entire public on the demolition of the radio station and music house built by popular Nigerian musician, Yinka Ayefele, the governor of Oyo State, Governor Ajimobi has revealed in a video that Mr. Yinka Ayefele did not abide by the state rules.

He made this known while he was interviewed by the press. He said(as translated to English Language), "that man did not obey the law. People are saying its because he's cripple, does that permit a crippled man to defy the law? They said he employed numerous number of people, don't armed robbers employ people as well? Should we permit them to continue their armed robbery because they are employing people?"
