Tenses: Was Dubai the world poverty capital when Burj Khalifa was built?
It's not my fault that you cannot connect trade connectivity to the creation of economic opportunities and the alleviate of poverty in all of its dimensions.
Building Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world as at today, was initially seen as madness and waste of money. The only way to spread prosperity and opportunity across this country is to open every state up to trade through logistics and connectivity.
Mistermoon: Please, I need advice on what to do. The community disconnected electricity supply to our compound because the landlord did not pay a community electrification due (money for transformer) that predates our tenancy and the landlord gave only me a quit notice with 30 days ultimatum because I was the only one brave enough to demand that he pays the due so that electricity can be restored to the house.
I want to take him up legally but I need guidance on how to go about it plus L do not personally know a lawyer.
Approach to issues matters. You said you demanded for your right! How about simply asking what is proposed steps were concerning the disconnected light and were he might needed the helps of the tenants?
But I don't really like China as I like USA. USA is a dependable ally. See how they're helping us kill terrorists in Nigeria. Iv never heard China assist any Africa countries defeat terrorism before. All they know is illegal mining of our resources.
WizardOfNG: Correct talk. Lived most of my life (from early teens) in the UK. Relocated to Naija a few years ago to establish a few businesses that are now doing well.
I am the envy of all my friends in the UK who visits Nigeria regularly and love the near excellent work, leisure and life balance Lagos offers if one is doing well that I enjoy full-time whereas they are miserable because of poor weather and lives that feel designed for work and paying bills alone in UK and Europe.
For one thing, you will never be able to buy land in London and build your dream home whereas I have purchased 4 different plots of land (minimum 500 SQM) of land in Lagos Island that have climbed up to 600% in value over 3 years.
Leisure , nightlife and dining etal, is the best in Lagos and far superior to anything Europe has to offer. I have a driver in the week and drive myself weekends. I dare not contemplate employing a driver in the UK. Not affordable.
A productive week ends with me driving to one of the nice resort around Lagos on Friday (La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort being one of my favourite) with any slim-thick beauty free that weekend.😎
People should not even get me started on food which Nigeria has the best of in the whole world, courtesy of sheer variety and being near organic, and I say this as a well-travelled sea food lover (very expensive in Europe) who has visited at least 25 nations of the world in and out of Africa.
This is why I keep telling some here on NL to focus on developing themselves and becoming successful instead of going around crying every day barking rabidly at every rich and successful person.
You want Seyi Tinubu lynched and Yusuf Buhari exiled but never understand their father conquered generational poverty the family now enjoys.
As someone who has lived a majority of his life in the west, I can say with 💯 % certainty that it is the poorer quality of Lebanese, Indians, Brits, Korean, Chinese, Americans etal who come to Nigeria to make money.
Tell young Nigerians to focus more on being solutions-providers, rather than being negative alone and always, so they can utilise the opportunities foreigners are trooping in to take advantage of and they insult you as is done to me daily here with "data boy" and "Tinubu hireling" slurs.
How many Lebanese, Chinese etal do you see suffering in Nigeria despite the fact many are not better off (education or ability-wise) than Nigerians?
The difference is that they see the myriads of opportunities on offer in States like Lagos, unavailable in their own nation, that most Nigerians, wallowing in misery and self-pity, can never spot.
Look at Fouani LG that is Lebanese-owned franchise authorised to sell LG electronics in Nigeria and West Africa.
I have already worked out a model with a British electronic firm to do similar and will market our Stores ( 2 to begin with in Lagos and Ogun State initially) under the banner of that firm.
I am not even deploying 5% of my own money. All I brought to the table was a mind that is open, optimistic, ambitious and can spot solutions.
Lagos has 23 million folks. It is one of the biggest consumer market in Africa. It is not difficult to raise finance for genuine and profitable niche ideas leveraging on taking even 10 Naira each , regularly, from a good percentage of that 23 million.
Today, I only go back and forth to the UK. Love the nation but can never ever live there or in any Western nation. Living in Nigeria and Lagos, these past few years, has opened my eyes to the real beauty of life.
If I want a holiday outside Nigeria, I will head to Seychelles, Kenya, Mauritius, Madagascar, Cape Coast Ghana , Gambia etc but never the West haven done Spain, USA, Europe etal to death in my twenties and cannot now justify comparing them to some African nations for pure pleasure, beautiful people, food, nature and financial cost.
The sooner Nigerian young men and women begin focusing on developing themselves and gaining solutions-provision skills, instead of moaning all day and waiting on government, the closer a fab life is. A fab life that delivers two fab things. Personal success and contribution to the success of your nation.
Nigerians, stop being so frigging negative. "Lagos smells" etc. Yet Idris Elba and Didier Drogba proclaimed it "most fabulous city in the world".
I am amazed when unexposed and bitter haters slag off Lagos. Is it me who has been a londoner majority of his life, and has visited New York and many top cities of the world, who does not know what a great city is?
Od course Lagos has problems but also a lot of positives too . Why then not get skills to make Lagos etal better, as young people elsewhere in the world would do, instead of always highlighting negatives alone?
Below is a Ugandan social media personality gushing about Abuja. Yet all you people know is negativity, bitterness and insults.
Just remember you have one life to live. You can remain bitter throughout that one life or try to achieve, succeed and be happy so that when God calls you, you leave the world with a smile on your face.
JediB: "Youth Mobilization what?" - please, beyond music, cultism, barely making it out of college, string after string of infidelity, an inability to coherently communicate ideas verbally, ehn! my family this, my family that!, yada, yada, yada - what progressive effort has the guy Davido (single concert he has not brought to OAU or EdePoly) individually brought to the State as a whole? The family are not even "pure" Omoluabi.
A most worrying aspect about it all is, how the seemingly best of the Adelekes', that is, Davido's Father, who is referred to as the Baba Olowo, (please somebody point us to a resource or address, perhaps even two offices, websites or factories, similar to that of the Okoyas, Dangote, etc, in Nigeria telling us clearly what the Adelekes do or how they make their so called money) who arguably is the most remarkable, most successful...is not the one running for Governor or in politics. Rather, we have their 'worst", unarguably relatively unknown ' Demola, the little to no recorded personal achievement beyond dancing Jackson, the certificate forging Uncle Demola etc being pulled up to be in Politics.Anyways, maybe the dude is expendable or good at being a front, eith4r way, here is another illegal illegitimate way to siphon funds Osun State does not have to ensure the Adeleke family business running the state continues.
Many Nigerians don't think properly. If not, they would have seen inconsistencies in the stories of the Adelekes.
HardMirror: The moment you say anything Obedients don't like, they immediately think you support Tinubu.
So 2027 is coming and it is sad to see that we learnt nothing from 2023 election.
Tinubu would have lost if only Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso worked together, but they did not.
So now they are together, but they will still lose again because of pride. Peter Obi will never agree to be vice president despite the fact that the north Will Never vote him. This is a fact. You cannot be president if you cannot win at least north along with one other major geopolitical zone. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE.
The only way forward if for obi to be vice to a northern heavy weight, but he will not. And that is how tinubu will win again.
But I know I will be called names. Go ahead. Come back in 2027 when Tinubu is re elected and continue to pretend you understand politics.
How does this sound to you? So the North will not vote for Obi but the East will vote for Atiku? So the North can make a choice but the East can't?
Lanretoye: None of the nothern states that is riddled with bandits and terrorists have deemed it fit to establish security outfits like this, but it was easy to establish sharia police…they don’t want to fight the war on terrorism cos they are complicit.
AMINDA: When will Tinubu drop Shettima as VP? Has he changed his mind? Tinubu gambled his re-election chances away on the day he betrayed Elrufai. He lost the trust and support of the North and gained nothing in return. It was a shocking strategic mistake from a so-called master strategist. Why is Ribadu not pulling his weight and galvanising Northerners for Tinubu like Elrufai did in 2023? Come-and-chop politicians. Lessons will be learnt!
I think you should be happy he made that mistake. That should be your prayer in the first place.
The same El-rufai who is against the Christians, who maimed the people of Southern Kaduna, has now become the jewel to obidients. Las las, almost everyone is hypocrite.
Nobody should go round saying he's fighting for justice, but for his interest, which may be religion, tribe or party.
It's actually 24 years, not 16. After 2031, a region in the North may rule for 8 years, Igbo takes 8 years, another region in the North 8 years, and then, perhaps yoruba.
ponziponzi: The problem is that many products imported will be cheaper than the locally produced. This is due to their scale of production, infrastructure development and matured supply chain that affects the cost of production. If Nigeria wants to base the survival of local industries on cost of imported substitutes, that will be a disaster.
You are right. But Dangote has worked around that. Dangote Refinery operates at a very larger scale, helping it to enjoy the economies that come with such scale and compete favourably with imported fuel.
My gut tells me that Wike and Fubara war 2 is not real. What we are seeing is mere theatrics. The two are not fighting, but had to put this up to win at both ends — Fubara will retain the people's sympathy and supports that he's always enjoyed while silently pandering to the lordship of Wike.
Non of the above. America simply became great through discipline, foresightedness and by putting their God-given brain into work.
One fellow up there said America became great through slave trade and by enslaving Africans. I hear you! If this theory is true, why have Africans found it hard to govern themselves and build a prosperous continent. Is that the song you will be singing for thousand years to come?
Streetinvestor2: That is what we stand. Anyone from the coalition is ok for SS,SE and north SW president is never an option to us. Thr is only one goal in adc which is remove SW president as a coalition of SS, SE and north
So, the issue is not Tinubu. It's the South West. The picture is getting clearer.
asfrank: Wait I'm not understanding this, Reno insults Tinubu, Tinubu should be the one angry right. But no, instead he nominates Reno to be an Ambassador, all of a sudden Tinubu's enemies or hater's rather are the ones fighting for him now. I pray to be like Tinubu...
My brother. It looks confusing, right? Na the matter wey dey ground be that!
Drifter02: At 25 years, I've never had a proper girlfriend.. might sound like fiction but it's true
I've actively chased girls all my life.. but I've never actually met any that liked me for me..
This was particularly worse in university.. all the girls I met were dumb and were only interested in chasing good grades instead of just actively existing..
Some are even married now and their lives are still robotic and pathetic.. these days they're chasing corporate certifications and more needless difficult things instead of just calming down and living their lives
Interestingly, the only one that had a school cert I met that gave me her number later told after two years (we never had sex btw) that she feels my family won't allow us marry as I had a BSc and she doesn't.. (young girl of 22 ).. naso she break things up. Bro the reason was just weird and strange. I suspect though she has another man she's attracted to.
All the other girls I keep meeting keep using me for money.. rather than bonding emotionally, it's always send me card.. buy me ice cream.. take me out.. stupid nonsensical crap and whatnot
Bro.. I'm just tired. I earn 100k a month and all I do I just sit indoors, jerk off and hate my life.. it's almost true love died with the last century. Without a partner.. my life just feels hollow and meaningless
