Politics / Did Buhari Make Nigeriajoin The Organisation Ofislamic Countries (OIC)? by samopeyemi: 6:09pm On Jan 06, 2015
NO!
Contrary to PDP propaganda, Buhari
refused to register Nigeria with OIC,
insisting that Nigeria is a secular state.
The Organisation of Islamic Countries
(OIC), now known as the Organisation of
Islamic Cooperation, with headquarters
in Jeddah, was established on 25
September 1969, following its first
meeting in Morocco. General Yakubu
Gowon sent a Nigerian delegation, led by
Alhaji Abubakar Gumi, “to represent
Nigeria Muslims” at the OIC’s first
meeting of 1969 in Morocco, despite
opposition.
The administrations of Murtala/
Obasanjo, Obasanjo/Yar’Adua, Shagari/
Ekwueme and Buhari/Idiagbon refused
to sign to Nigeria’s full membership of
the OIC despite pressure and intense
lobbying. They maintained that Nigeria
is a secular state and not an Islamic
country.
A French news agency reported that
Nigeria was admitted into the OIC as its
46th member in January 1986. Ebitu
Ukiwe, then a Navy Commodore and
second in command to the then Military
Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, had it
rough with that administration when he
declared publicly that the decision to join
OIC was not discussed at any level of
government. Mr. Ukiwe’s denial of the
decision reportedly led to his forceful
exit from government.
General Sani Abacha maintained
Nigeria’s membership despite calls for
withdrawal from various groups.
According to reports, on April 11, 2012,
President Umaru Yar’Adua renewed
Nigeria’s membership of the OIC. There
have been calls to withdraw Nigeria’s
OIC membership but as at this day,
Nigeria remains a full member of the
OIC, and the President appoints
delegates to represent Nigeria at OIC
conferences.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was
the head of Nigeria’s delegation to the
OIC Islamic Summit in February 2013.
Please see the full delegation list in the
image below, and the complete
attendance list on the OIC website here .

Politics / Re: Photos: RCCG Members Asked To Show Their PVC In Church by samopeyemi: 11:56pm On Jan 04, 2015
Herzumpther:
Na wa o. What he said was that the order came from the headquarters that was after he talked about their ongoing fasting which started on second. My mum and siblings who are redeemers were not happy about it too.

That pastor must av added his/her own 'jara'.
I attend a provincial hq, nothing of such was ever mentioned. Not today, not earlier.
Thats why xtians should not worship pastors, we all av discerning spirit. Pastors at times allow dir human nature to take over.
Politics / Re: Photos: RCCG Members Asked To Show Their PVC In Church by samopeyemi: 11:15pm On Jan 04, 2015
Herzumpther:
Yes o. I closed from Mass early and decided to join my mum and sisters in their redeem church which happen not to be too far from my parish. After the service the pastor announced to my surprise that an order came from their headquarter instructing that any member who fails to present his or her PCV in church, such member's thanksgiving should not be accepted. I was shocked o.

That was a bit harsh. Some Pastors could be over zealous, trying to exaggerate things. I doubt if such order would av come from d headquarter.
I neva experince such today.
Meanwhile what i know was that members were asked to come with dir pvc on d first sunday of december (to pray over it).......
Politics / Re: Photos: RCCG Members Asked To Show Their PVC In Church by samopeyemi: 11:00pm On Jan 04, 2015
Its a pity when people say CHURCH should have nothing to do with politics.

Who is the CHURCH? Is it the building or d ppl inside (worshippers). I believe every religious organisations should aggressively educate dir members on the need to exercise dir civic right (same way a lot did during the ebola virus outbreak).

One thing ppl fail to recognise is that if the country were to be functioning rightly, a lot of the FAKE PASTORS will be put out of buisness. Take a look at the advanced countries (where things are working), how many of them can be easily swayed by fake pastors?

When bad leaders are at the helms of affair, who suffer for it- THE CITIZENS (THE CHURCH INCLUSIVE). Thats why we have a lot of ppl trying to come up with SO-CALLED solutions (including fake pastors).

Bottom line is let all religious organisations CONVINCE their members to ENSURE they perform their CIVIC RIGHT BY ALL MEANS and not that they should just vote their choice candidate, but dy should vote (THEIR CONSCIENCE) with d FEAR OF GOD.COS THEY WE WILL FACE THE CONSEQUENCE OF OUR ACTIONS (+VE OR -VE) AT LEAST FOR THE NEXT 4YRS AND NO ONE SHOULD EXPECT GOD TO DO MAGIC COS THE BALL WAS ONCE IN OUR COURT.

WE NEED SOME SANITY IN THIS COUNTRY.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

Education / Re: OPINION: 8 Reasons Why Bsc Is Superior To HND by samopeyemi: 5:15pm On Jan 03, 2015
Either BSc or HND, with hard work, opportunity and God grace one will surely make a headway. None guarantee success on a plater of gold.

There are some HND holder that are smarter and more inteligent than BSc holders

But sincerely, truth be told that the level of education in an average Nigerian University (not all) is way ahead of that in an average Nigerian Polytechnic. BSc is also more marketable outside the country, esp for higher degree.

Another point to note is that except maybe for banks, most high paying companies especially the multinational coys rate uni grads ahead of poly grads.

All in all, the fact that one has a BSc does not mean such person will make it more than someone with HND, even though the BSc holder might have received a much better education. Same way a Prof doesnt necessarily make it than a BSc holder though d prof might av all the knowledge in the world.

You don't need a girl in your life if you really want to remain a virgin!

You are just 22 and need some more years to begin to think of marriage. I suggest you concentrate on your education for now and flee the temptation of losing your virginity.

An excellent advice.
Focus on your study/career (whichever applies) and continue to be yourself! You will attract someone of like mind.

Because he made reference to the bible means he is a strong xtian ? What is the definition of a 'strong xtian'? Dont be so dumb!
Romance / Re: Her Dad Is A Herbalist! Advice Pls by samopeyemi: 8:16am On Dec 22, 2014
The op said he is from a 'strong christian' home; he never said he is a 'strong christian'. Pastor's children are not necessarily born again, some are damn raz!

My opinion about your predicament is that you dont know you want. You should sincerely define what you want for your life and from the girl.
Remember that you marry a girl and her family. Do you even have the same belief with the girl......or you are just lusting after her!
