You have to pick a time from the dates there, even if it's a paid service, else you won't be able to proceed to checkout

The confirmation email still hasn't come in, please was it showing as "not yet set" on your profile before you received the mail? It has been over 48 hours, I'm getting worried.

If you chose self service, go ahead and upload your documents. The same thing happened to me during my application but in my own case TLS already sent me payment confirmation, but my appointment time and date was still showing "Not set yet", and it was like that till i got my visa. Here's what i did;
Log on to "selfupload.visas-uk.tlscontact.com", but before then make sure you're logged in to your TLS account, if not it won't work. Open another tab in the same browser for this "selfupload.visas-uk.tlscontact.com", different from your TLS account tab which must still be open.

When the site loads, it will show your GWF number on the top right side of the page, then you can go ahead and upload all your documents. Note that you can only upload all relevant documents once, you can't come back to delete or add any other document after you have uploaded and left the page, so put all the documents you want to upload in a folder before you start.

After using Turkish airline from Lagos to Birmingham (layover at Istanbul for about 2 hours), we finally arrived at Birmingham airport by 9:45 but started deboarding by 10:15.

Immigration Officer: Hello good morning
Me: Good morning sir
Immigration Officer: May I know where you boarded from?
Me: Lagos, Nigeria
Immigration Officer: Via Istanbul right?
Me: Yes sir
Immigration Officer: Why are you in the UK?
Me: For studies
Immigration Officer: Which school is that?
Me: I told him
Immigration Officer: What course?
Me: Told him
Immigration Officer: Is this your first time in the UK?
Me: Yes sir
Immigration Officer: Ok. Please place your finger on the machine (a fingerprint machine was there)
Me: I did it.
Immigration Officer: *stamps passport* Ok that will be all. Have a nice day
Me: Thank you sir.

He didn't even ask all the questions i was expecting, like CAS letter, bank statement, accommodation etc. Maybe na my luck sha or the airport is not that busy.
But that Istanbul airport big oh, see as people just dey waka yet e no end. When i was looking for where to book my transfer flight, the guy checking was asking the questions i was expecting the UK immigration officer to ask (which school are you going, what course do you want to study, do you have your CAS with you?). For my mind i dey look say shay dis one ya werey ni? but i sha dey answer am make he stamp passport make i meuve, na so he carry passport go meet him second dey talk something for him hear, that one look passport just dismiss am, naso the werey come give me my passport oh.
The Lagos to Istanbul flight was very long and tiring, and we hit a few turbulence (took something like 5 - 6 hours) but the Istanbul to Birmingham flight was shorter and smoother. Anyways me I don enter UK oh, na to start school remain. Safe journey to others coming in and good luck to the visa hopefuls.

Please does a 4 hour layover at Istanbul, Turkey on a flight from Lagos to Birmingham require a transit visa? (Turkish Airlines)

Your visit visa refusal won’t affect it. There’s no travel ban in your refusal letter and no case of fraud so you should be fine. I had similar visit visa refusal and didn’t have any issues with getting my student visa. Just ensure your POf is genuine and don’t remove the funds in between your visa application. You should get a positive outcome. Good luck.
