Sports / Tottenham Hotspur Make Improved Offer For Sporting Lisbon’s Adrien Silva? by samsonslide: 12:27pm On Jul 03, 2017
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided to meet the asking price of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva.

Last month, it was claimed that the Portuguese giants had told the Premier League outfit that they would have to pay a fee of £26m in order to sign their captain.

According to A Bola, Spurs have opted to meet their demands by lodging an offer in the region of £27m for the Portuguese international.

Silva has a release clause of £39.5m in his contract, but it has been claimed that Sporting are willing to accept a lower fee for the 28-year-old.

Last season, he made 32 starts for Sporting in all competitions, while he has just represented his national team at the Confederations Cup.

He was linked with a switch to Leicester City ahead of the previous campaign, but he instead extended his spell in Lisbon to a 10th year.

Sports / Rooney Models Manchester United´s New Home Kit by samsonslide: 12:19pm On Jul 03, 2017
Speculation around the future of Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is likely to increase after he was used for the release of the club’s new home shirt for 2016-17.

Rooney fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford during Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge, in which he only made 15 starts in the Premier League.

The 31-year-old rejected the chance to leave the club in January but he has been heavily linked with a move before the start of next season, with former club Everton and teams from the Chinese Super League reportedly interested.

Those rumours increased when Rooney was removed from United’s Facebook cover when their away strip for upcoming season was launched last month.

However, the club’s record goalscorer was used as a central figure for the release of United’s new home shirt, featuring in images on their official website and Twitter account alongside Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and new signing Victor Lindelof.

The pictures are likely to encourage speculation that Rooney will be given a chance to stake his claim for a place in Mourinho’s side next season.

Recent reports in England have suggested that England’s leading goalscorer is not pushing for a move away and would be happy to stay and fight for his future.

Sports / Chelsea Move Closer To Virgil Van Dijk Transfer? by samsonslide: 5:05pm On Jun 23, 2017
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has reportedly decided to focus his efforts on trying to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Italian is known to be in the market for a new defender after the departure of John Terry, and Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci is another player who has been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge.

However, according to Sky Italia, Conte has moved away from a potential reunion with the 30-year-old and is instead keen to bring in Netherlands international Van Dijk.

Earlier this month, Liverpool apologised for their conduct in a failed pursuit of Van Dijk, leaving Chelsea to battle it out with Manchester City for a player that the Saints insist is not for sale.

Nevertheless, it has been suggested that Chelsea are willing to pay at least £60m for the former Celtic man, leaving them ahead of City who allegedly will not meet that figure.

Van Dijk has made 55 appearances in the Premier League, but he missed the second half of the most recent campaign through injury.

Sports / Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt To Join Bayern Munich In 2018? by samsonslide: 2:57pm On Jun 22, 2017
Liverpool have reportedly missed out on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt, who is said to have agreed a move to Bayern Munich.

It has previously been suggested that both clubs were keen on the 21-year-old, who has emerged as one of the top prospects in German football since breaking into Leverkusen’s first team.

Liverpool were allegedly willing to spend big on Brandt but according to German outlet TZ, he has opted to remain in his homeland.

It has been claimed that Bayern were keen to secure his services for the upcoming campaign but with Brandt keen on earning a place in Germany’s squad for the World Cup, an agreement is in place for him to remain at his current club for another 12 months.

Brandt has scored 20 goals in 128 appearances for Leverkusen, while he has won eight caps for his national team.

Sports / He´s Human We´ve All Been There – Rojas Defends New Zealand Skipper Wood by samsonslide: 1:39pm On Jun 22, 2017
New Zealand forward Marco Rojas defended strike partner Chris Wood after his misses proved costly in the 2-1 Confederations Cup defeat to Mexico.

All Whites captain Wood broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute as Anthony Hudson’s men gained due reward for a superb first-half showing that belied their underdog status.

But the Leeds United man also spurned two one-on-ones either side of his goal, the latter immediately before Raul Jimenez’s 54th-minute leveller for El Tri.

“Look, he scored the one as well – he’s human. We’ve all been there,” said Melbourne Victory’s Rojas, whose inventive attacking play was to the fore before the break.

“The fact we got into those positions says a lot about how we played in the first half. I’m happy we played the football we know that we can play.

“We created a lot of chances, had a bit more space than the last game. When you’re going well like that it’s enjoyable to be on the pitch.

“But it’s a 90-minute game and we have to have a look at what happened during the second half.”New Zealand battled back against their elimination after Oribe Peralta netted decisively, with Ryan Thomas striking the crossbar.

A feisty contest concluded with a mass on-field brawl and Rojas counted himself as fortunate to have been substituted in the 73rd minute.

“I was probably lucky I was on the sidelines by that point,” said the diminutive attacker, who did get a close-up view of ongoing rowing between the two benches – television replays having earlier shown Mexico boss Juan Carlos Osorio to have launched a foul-mouthed tirade at New Zealand assistant Alex Armstrong.

“It’s just passion. We had to get something out of that game and so did they.

“Sometimes it gets very heated on the bench. Obviously, you don’t condone that as a footballer but it just happens sometimes.”

Sports / Barcelona Move For Vitinho Approved By Palmeiras Boss Cuca by samsonslide: 1:02pm On Jun 22, 2017
Barcelona have been linked with signing Vitinho from Palmeiras and the Brazilian club’s coach Cuca has given his blessing.

Vitinho, 19, came through the ranks at Palmeiras and made two appearances in their Campeonato Brasileiro triumph in 2016.

Reports in Brazil suggest the midfielder could be set to spend the next year on loan at Barcelona, playing for their B team in the Spanish second tier.

With Vitinho having only made two appearances for Palmeiras in 2017, both brief substitute outings in the Campeonato Paulista, Cuca is more than happy for him to make the switch to Europe.

“I’ve heard something about it. I think it’s great for the player and the club,” said Cuca after Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Atletico Goianiense.

“Here, we do not have B teams. He does not play here, but he has been training relatively well.

“If he leaves, if he stays, fine. If he does not stay, he will return much more prepared.

“A while back we had a B [team] to play. Tomorrow [Thursday] we have a [reserve] game against Sao Caetano and he is going to play.”

Globo Esporte report Palmeiras are seeking a €1.5million fee for Barcelona to take Vitinho on loan until June 2018 and a purchase option of €15m.

Sports / Kluivert: Verratti Wants To Join Barca But PSG Won´t Let Him Leave by samsonslide: 9:22am On Jun 22, 2017
Marco Verratti wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Barcelona but the French giants are unwilling to sell, claimed former director of football Patrick Kluivert, who insisted the Italian midfielder is worth more than €100million.

Linked with a move away from PSG throughout the 2016-17 season, speculation is rife that Verratti is Barca’s main transfer target.

Verratti is contracted until 2021 but the Italy international has made no secret of his desire to win trophies, after PSG were dethroned by Monaco in Ligue 1, while the French capital club suffered a demoralising Champions League last-16 exit.

And Kluivert – who left his role as PSG’s director of football earlier in June – said Verratti wants to move to Camp Nou.

“I know the president very well. Verratti renewed last year for four years and I know that Verratti wants to come to Barca but PSG will not let him,” Kluivert told La Sexta.

“It’s going to be very difficult [for Barca to sign him].

“If a player is not happy in the end the one that decides are PSG.”

It has been reported that Barca are prepared to spend between €70m and €80m for Verratti’s services.

But Kluivert said: “Verratti’s worth more than that. I think he’s worth more than €100m.”

Sports / Blatter Claims Football´s ´culture´ To Blame For Ronaldo Tax Scrutiny by samsonslide: 12:51pm On Jun 19, 2017
Sepp Blatter has claimed a culture of suspicion in football is to blame for the investigation of Cristiano Ronaldo by Spanish tax authorities.

Prosecutors have filed a complaint in which they accused Ronaldo of a “voluntary” and “conscious” breach of his tax obligations, amounting to a figure of €14.7million.

The Ballon d’Or holder’s representatives Gestifute have denied the accusation, while his club Real Madrid have said they are “absolutely convinced that our player Cristiano Ronaldo will prove his total innocence in this process”.

Former FIFA president Blatter is serving a six-year ban from all football-related activity over a “disloyal payment” made to former UEFA chief Michel Platini.

In an interview with RTS, the 81-year-old Swiss claimed Ronaldo’s situation is a consequence of endemic distrust in football compared to other elite sports.

“One would never suspect [tennis great Roger] Federer, a money-making machine,” he said.

“Federer is untouchable.”

Reflecting on the temptation for athletes to break the rules on the field, Blatter cited the example of Diego Maradona’s infamous ‘Hand of God’ goal against England at the 1986 World Cup.

“It’s not good, but we cheat anyway,” he said.

“That’s why this sport [football] has set itself some safeguards.”

Sports / ‘cristiano Ronaldo Best In The World’ – Pele by samsonslide: 11:41am On Jun 19, 2017
Brazil legend Pele has claimed that “there is no doubt” Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the best player in the world.

Ronaldo, 32, is the favourite to retain this year’s Ballon d’Or after helping Real Madrid retain the Champions League title, in addition to wrestling the La Liga crown away from Barcelona last season.

The topic of Ronaldo against Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has long been discussed, but Pele has stated that Ronaldo is “the best player, the best scorer and the best forward” in the world.

“Two years ago I gave the (Ballon d’Or) trophy to him and it was an honour for me,” Pele told reporters. “The best player in the world? No doubt. As I have mentioned, I think that today there is no doubt the best player, the best scorer and the best forward is Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Ronaldo has scored 406 goals in 394 appearances since joining Madrid from Man United in 2009, but the Portugal captain is said to be desperate to leave the Bernabeu this summer.

Sports / Aluko Advises NFF On Hw To Get Solanke, Lookman & Other Nigeria-born England U20 by samsonslide: 10:05am On Jun 19, 2017
Fulham FC striker Sone Aluko has advised the Nigeria Football Federation on how to get the Nigeria-born England U-20 stars to switch allegiances to Nigeria.

Players such as Dominic Solanke, Fikayo Tomori, Sheyi Ojo, Ovie Ejaria, Josh Onomah and Ademola Lookman of Nigerian origin all filed out for England in the World Cup.

Aluko urged them to switch their international allegiance from England to Nigeria.

The players helped England Under-20 clinch the World Cup with Solanke winning the competition’s Player of the Tournament accolade.

Aluko, who also represented England at the Under-19 level before switching his allegiance to the Super Eagles, stated that the onus is on the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF.

He told Complete Sports, “The onus is on Nigeria and not the players. Nigeria have to make it attractive for these players to leave the path they’ve known.

“After being in the English system, and Nigeria who have never invested in their career invite them, it would be difficult.

“Even me that can be described as a success story, I only have six caps, I haven’t started in a competitive game for Super Eagles but I have scored two goals and people said I have done well.

“So it is the responsibility for Nigeria to make it attractive for them which I think is what they are trying to do now in getting these players.”

Chelsea’s Ola Aina recently switched his allegiance to Nigeria after captaining England’s U-20 side.

Sports / Abidal Says Mbappe Not Worth £120m As He Talks Up Barca Move For Dembele by samsonslide: 9:31am On Jun 16, 2017
Eric Abidal does not believe in-demand Monaco star Kylian Mbappe is worth £120million but the Barcelona ambassador said Ousmane Dembele would fit in well at Camp Nou.

Teenage sensation Mbappe is the most sought-after player in football, with Barca, rivals Real Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all linked with big-money moves for the 18-year-old forward.

French champions Monaco are reluctant to part with their prized asset, with a record fee required to lure the France international from the Stade Louis II.
Despite Mbappe scoring 26 goals in all competitions as Monaco dethroned Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals, countryman Abidal does not agree with the transfer figures being touted.

“Mbappe is a good player, but his price is not £120m,” Abidal told Cadena Ser.

“I still think he wants to stay in Monaco and confirm his level there.

“He has to make a decision also thinking about his game minutes, because this is the year of the World Cup.”
Abidal added: “When you start to pay £100m as was done by Pogba, then for a player with more talent you have to reach £200m and that does not represent the value of the players.

“Here at Barca, what price would be paid for [Lionel] Messi or Neymar?”

Mbappe was impressive again for France, capping his fourth international appearance by assisting Dembele’s winner in the 3-2 victory over England.
Borussia Dortmund’s Dembele has also been linked with Barca, having revealed the Catalan giants were interested in him last year.

The 20-year-old attacker scored six goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances in 2016-17.

“Dembele is a very talented player, he would fit very well in the club,” added Abidal.

“If the bench is strong things are achieved, the signings will help a lot.”

Sports / Mayweather V Mcgregor: The Boxer´s Greatest Fights by samsonslide: 4:34pm On Jun 15, 2017
After months of posturing and bad-mouthing between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Conor McGregor, a date for their mega-fight has finally been set.

Las Vegas will finally play host to an eagerly anticipated clash between the outspoken duo on August 26.

Mayweather, a former five-division champion, will come out of retirement and put his 49-0 record on the line against McGregor – the first man to hold belts in two UFC divisions simultaneously but yet to box professionally.

The hype surrounding the bout and the on-going attention it has attracted make it one of the American’s biggest fights.

We take a look at five of his most important nights in the ring.

IT’S OFFICIAL!!! https:///ND07Ixugs2 pic.twitter.com/JpqFW5WbcB

— Floyd Mayweather (@FloydMayweather) June 14, 2017

Genaro Hernandez – October 3, 1998

Mayweather was robbed of the ultimate amateur accolade in an Olympic gold medal when Bulgaria’s Seragim Todorov was handed a controversial 10-9 victory in the Atlanta 1996 featherweight semi-finals. It has been suggested that loss is what set the American on his stunning career path, and after starting his professional career with 17 wins he got his first shot at a title against Hernandez (38-1-1). Mayweather, just 21 at the time, overpowered his more experienced opponent with an eighth-round stoppage securing him the WBC super featherweight title. It proved to be Hernandez’s final fight.
Zab Judah – April 8, 2006

Mayweather came out on top by unanimous decision against Judah (34-3) in a fight that was billed as “Sworn Enemies”. Off the back of a defeat to Carlos Manuel Baldomir, Judah looked to assert himself in the early stages but saw a possible knockdown ruled as a slip by referee Richard Steele in the second round. The tide turned in the fifth with Mayweather drawing blood from Judah’s nose, but a brawl was sparked when Judah struck his opponent with a low blow and followed it with a right hand to the back of the head. Mayweather’s coach and uncle Roger entered the ring and confronted Judah, sparking a brawl with members of the opposing team and prompting security to flood the ring, but Mayweather cruised to the end when the fight resumed.
Oscar De La Hoya – May 5, 2007

He was already a champion at super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight, but Mayweather’s victory over De La Hoya (38-4) at super welterweight established him as a superstar. Two-time WBC champion at the weight De La Hoya – who replaced previous coach Floyd Mayweather Sr with Freddie Roach ahead of the bout – was the busier of the pair in the ring, but Mayweather produced a stunning show of efficiency with accurate punches off a typically defensive approach. It clearly won him favour with the judges, and a split-decision victory gave him a title in a fifth different division.

Ricky Hatton – December 8, 2007

Mayweather’s superior technique was astoundingly clear in this WBC world welterweight title fight in Las Vegas. A raucous travelling support offered the unbeaten Hatton (43-0) plenty of support but he was completely dominated on the inside, and the top pound-for-pound fighter underlined his status as the best in the business with a 10th-round knockout. As Hatton leaned to take a left hook, Mayweather spotted his right hand drop and caught the Brit flush on the chin with a powerful left as he skipped to the side. Could anyone get the better of him?
Manny Pacquiao – May 2, 2015

It was the fight everyone had been waiting for, the two greatest fighters of their generation going toe to toe for Mayweather’s WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight titles – the ‘Fight of the Century’. Ultimately, though, it fell short of that billing, with the American simply too good at the MGM Grand once again. His brilliant right hand controlled the fight, with Pacquiao briefly threatening in the fourth and sixth rounds with some solid strikes. Mayweather was at his best when attacking but picked out some lovely counter-punches to earn a unanimous points decision, much to the chagrin of the Filipino. After making a cool $100million away from the win, Mayweather took his record to 49-0 against Andre Berto before retiring in September of that year.

Sports / No Surgery For Gabriel Jesus by samsonslide: 3:18pm On Jun 15, 2017
Manchester City attacker Gabriel Jesus does not have to undergo surgery on the facial injury he suffered in Brazil’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Argentina.

The striker was taken off on a stretcher following an accidental collision with City team-mate Nicolas Otamendi and initial reports suggested he would have to go under the knife.

But Jesus has now announced his recovery is on track and he hopes to be back in action within three weeks.
“Hi people. I did a facial resonance, several exams and I have GOOD news,” the 20-year-old wrote in a statement on his Facebook account.

“My recovery is going very well and I won’t need surgery. In 15 days I will be reassessed, but all signs show that I will be back within three weeks!

“Thanks a lot to everyone that sent me messages, who supported me, sent positive vibes and prayed for me!

Sports / John Terry Gets Offer From Birmingham City by samsonslide: 3:05pm On Jun 15, 2017
Former Chelsea captain John Terry has been offered a contract by Championship side Birmingham City.

Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp has made an approach to bring the 36-year-old to the second-tier club, even though he thinks the centre-back remains capable of playing at any level.

Terry has also been linked with a move to the United States, China and Premier League clubs West Brom and Bournemouth.

But Redknapp hopes his “good offer” will be enough to lure Terry to Birmingham, who only avoided relegation to League One on the final day of last season.
“I would love to have him at the football club,” Redknapp said to talkSPORT. “He is a fantastic captain and great leader.

“We have made him a good offer and we have done the best we can. It is up to John now, but we would love him at Birmingham.

“He could play for anybody still – he has got a couple of good years in him.
“He played for me the other week in Michael Carrick’s testimonial. I had John at the back with Jamie Carragher and I would have them two together all day long. They were fantastic.

“I had a chat with him and said tjavascript:void(0);o him come in – he’s doing his coaching badges – have a year or two and who knows what he wants to do in the future?”
Terry left Premier League champions Chelsea at the end of the season after 22 years at the club, a spell that saw him win 15 major trophies.

He fell out of favour after Antonio Conte’s arrival as manager, only making nine top-flight appearances in 2016-17.

Sports / Messi Is A ´f****** Great Guy´ – Barca Team-mate Suarez by samsonslide: 9:27am On Jun 15, 2017
Lionel Messi is a “f****** great guy” according to Barcelona team-mate Denis Suarez, who praised the five-time Ballon d’Or win for remaining humble at Camp Nou.

Spanish midfielder Suarez returned to Barcelona last July and featured in the first team alongside the club’s all-time leading scorer Messi.

Messi enjoyed another fine campaign, scoring 54 goals in all competitions.

Reflecting on his first season in the senior side, Suarez was asked which team-mate surprised him most, and the 23-year-old told Sport: “I’d like to highlight Leo [Messi].
“From outside he can seem like an almost unreachable person, but in the dressing room he’s just one of the team. He’s a f****** great guy.”

Talking further about Barca’s famed MSN – Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar – he added: “They welcomed me from the first day and I have a great relationship with the three of them, although I get on best with Luis. I’m next to him in the dressing room and he’s always supported me.”
The 2016-17 campaign did not go according to plan, however, as Barcelona were dethroned by rivals Real Madrid in LaLiga.

Barca also lost to Juventus in the Champions League quarter-finals.

But Suarez – linked with a move to Italian side Napoli – hopes next season will be “incredible and I hope we win all three trophies”.

The LMC also ruled that Sunshine would play their home games behind closed doors at the Otunba Dipo Dina, Stadium in Ijebu Ode “until further notice”.

“The matches will be played under closed doors until the LMC is satisfied that the club can guaranty security at their games and also control their unruly supporters,” the league body said in a statement.

Sports / Result: Spain Survive Macedonia Scare To Stay Top Of Group G by samsonslide: 5:06pm On Jun 13, 2017
Spain maintained their spot at the top of Group G in World Cup qualifying with a surprisingly hard-fought 2-1 win over Macedonia in Skopje tonight.

Despite being 126 places above Macedonia in the FIFA World Rankings, Julen Lopetegui was not taking any chances as the La Roja coach named a strong side.

Diego Costa was preferred to Manchester United-linked Alvaro Morata up front, and the Chelsea man justified his selection with a fine showing.

He was a menace to Macedonia early on and his deflected shot found the side netting on 10 minutes in what was an ominous sign of things to come for the hosts.
Two minutes later it was 1-0 as Manchester City’s David Silva side-footed past Stole Dimitrievski from close range after expertly deceiving his marker.
Isco, fresh from winning the Champions League with Real Madrid last weekend, threatened on a couple of occasions, before his magic set up the second.

The playmaker demonstrated a fine bit of skill to lose left-back Kire Ristevski, before teeing up the unmarked Costa at the back post to tap into the roof of the net – his fifth goal of the qualifying campaign.
A partisan home support got behind their side at every opportunity, and they nearly had something other than a counter-attack to shout about when Stefan Ristovski drilled just wide of David De Gea‘s post before the half-time whistle

Gerard Pique fluffed a great chance for a third on the hour mark, connecting with a cross from Andres Iniesta but his diving header, from 10 yards out, flew over the bar.
The Barcelona man was soon punished as Goran Pandev‘s excellent flick-on released Ristovski, who raced away from Sergio Ramos and galloped toward goal, before smashing past De Gea from a tricky angle.

It gave the home support hope, but the stunner would not be the foundations for an unlikely comeback as the 2010 World champions held on to their three points.

Sports / Super Silva Proves Worth For Brilliant Brazil by samsonslide: 3:55pm On Jun 13, 2017
Australia may have been the unlikeliest of places for Thiago Silva to showcase once more he belongs in a Brazil shirt.

It has been a long road back for the Paris Saint-Germain star following the debacles that were the 2014 World Cup and 2015 Copa America.

Silva, 32, has incredibly played just 47 minutes in qualifying for Brazil, who have booked their spot in Russia. That is perhaps the strongest indication of the depth of talent at Tite’s disposal, and the competition for places he can create ahead of next year’s showpiece.

In Inter’s Miranda and Silva’s club team-mate Marquinhos, the centre of Brazil’s defence has been well marshalled in qualifying. They have conceded just 10 goals in 14 games in an all-conquering campaign, one during which fellow heavyweights Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Colombia have each had their struggles.
Brazil’s attack has, perhaps rightly, taken most of the plaudits, and Philippe Coutinho showed once more why as the Liverpool star pulled all the strings during his side’s 4-0 thrashing of Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday. Even without their brightest star Neymar, they were in control, albeit against an understrength Socceroos who had little spark of their own.

He’s back! #AUSvBRA #SelecaoBrasileira #CBGT pic.twitter.com/tycrKj2Zuj

— Brasil Global Tour (@BGT_ENG) June 13, 2017

But Tite’s words ahead of the friendly summed up what he wants his team to stand for despite the almost endless creative flair in their attacking third. “Creativity without organisation in a team creates a mess,” he said.
European nations have not only won the past three World Cups, but they have owned five of the six spots in the final. But Brazil may be finding the balance, and in Silva they have a captain and organiser in the heart of defence.

He had a decent outing in the loss to Argentina – his first competitive start since the 2015 Copa and first time he had worn the armband since being stripped of it in late 2014. Silva built on that against the Confederations Cup-bound Socceroos, and he capped off a fine performance with a headed goal in the second half.
Tite’s decision not to play David Luiz alongside him helps, with the Chelsea star enjoying a good outing in central midfield.

Silva’s central defensive partner, Rodrigo Caio, did little wrong, although the visitors’ back four was rarely truly tested. The Sao Paulo man also provided Silva’s goal with his header following a scramble from a Coutinho corner.

Following the messy endings to Brazil’s most recent major tournaments, Tite may have found his men to ensure there is no repeat in Russia, and Silva could lead the cast.

Sports / Everton ‘eye Florentin Pogba Move’ by samsonslide: 3:42pm On Jun 13, 2017
Everton are reportedly interested in signing Saint-Etienne defender Florentin Pogba in this summer’s transfer window.

Pogba, 26, is the older brother of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, who returned to English football from Juventus in a world-record fee last summer.

According to several reports in France, Everton are considering a move for Saint-Etienne full-back Pogba, but surprise Bundesliga package RB Leipzig are also said to be interested in a player that will be out of contract at his French club in the summer of 2018.
Pogba only started 16 Ligue 1 matches for Saint-Etienne last season, although he featured seven times in the Europa League – including against his brother Paul during the knockout round of the competition.

Sports / Result: Tite’s Brazil Make Light Work Of Australia With 4-0 Victory At The MCG by samsonslide: 2:10pm On Jun 13, 2017
Goals from Diego Souza, Thiago Silva and Taison have handed Brazil a comfortable 4-0 victory over Australia in their friendly contest at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Victoria this afternoon.

Brazil came haring out of the blocks from kickoff and quickly went ahead inside the first minute, Giuliano cleverly stealing possession inside the Australia half before feeding Souza, who made no mistake with a drilled finish underneath Mitchell Langerak.

Following a frantic opening, Australia found themselves a slight foothold in the contest and might have grabbed an equaliser through Bailey Wright, but he could not adjust his body accordingly to beat an on-rushing Diego Alves.
The game was almost played in the opposite fashion to a friendly and moved from end to end at a frenetic pace, this time as Douglas Costa pulled out some remarkable skill to find the run of Paulinho, although the midfielder spooned his effort over the crossbar.

The visitors started the second half in much the same fashion as the first and they found a second goal in the 62nd minute, when Silva reacted quickest after David Luiz had struck the crossbar from a corner by heading over the line from close range.
Brazil made a number of changes and Taison proved to be the most effective, the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder showing a standout burst of pace down the left before being denied by an astute Langerak in the Aussie goal.

Taison was not to be denied, though, as he came back just minutes later to make it 3-0 to the visitors, as the 29-year-old completed a memorable team move that involved an audacious back-heel from Paulinho and an adroit finish into the far corner.
