EducationOkojie Wisdom Wins Guinness World Record By Wearing 600 Lanyards by samuelige46(op): 5:06pm On Nov 12, 2025
Finally! UI Student Breaks Guinness World Record for Most Lanyards Worn 🎉

After weeks of anticipation, it has finally happened! A University of Ibadan student has made history and put UI on the global map again.

📍 Wisdom Okojie, a 100-level Physics student, has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the Most Lanyards Worn at Once, an incredible 600 lanyards!

This record-breaking moment took place at the Faculty of Science Lecture Theatre, UI, and it’s now officially recognized on the Guinness World Records website.

🎯 Highlights:

The previous record was 509 lanyards, held by Salacnib “Sonny” Molina from the USA.

Wisdom set out to not just break a record, but also raise awareness for out-of-school children in Nigeria.

The feat took months of planning, coordination, and a lot of neck strength!

💬 UI community and Nigerians at large are buzzing with pride. It’s one of those “finally!” moments everyone had been waiting for a mix of creativity, determination, and that special UI energy.

👏 Big congrats to Wisdom!

FamilyIs Family Still As United As It Used To Be? by samuelige46(op): 10:08pm On Oct 05, 2025
Sometimes I look back at how family life used to be, and I can’t help but feel things have really changed. There was a time when family meant closeness, laughter, and connection. Everyone ate together, talked about their day, and supported each other no matter what.

These days, it feels like that unity is slowly disappearing. Parents are busy chasing work and money, children are lost in their phones or social media, and siblings hardly talk to each other except when there is an issue to solve. Many homes are quiet, not because there is peace, but because everyone is living in their own world.

Some people now say their real family is online. They find comfort in friends they’ve never met, while relationships at home grow cold. It’s almost like everyone is together physically but emotionally miles apart.

Maybe it’s the pressure of modern life. Maybe it’s the technology that keeps us “connected” but also isolates us. Or maybe we just stopped making time for one another.

Whatever the reason, I think families need to find their way back to that sense of togetherness. The little things matter more than we realize sitting down to eat together, talking about our day, checking up on each other, or even watching a movie as a family.

So I’m curious to hear from you.
How close is your family these days? Do you still have those bonding moments? Or has everyone grown distant because of life’s struggles?

Let’s talk about it below.

Dr. Ezekiel Izuogu designed and built a prototype called the Izuogu Z-600, which was 90% locally made in the 1990s.

2️⃣ A Nigerian developed a way to turn urine into electricity.
Four teenage girls from Lagos created a generator powered by urine that could produce up to six hours of power from one liter.

3️⃣ A Nigerian-built satellite once helped monitor climate change.
NigeriaSat-2, launched in 2011, was designed by Nigerian engineers in collaboration with a UK firm — it helped track deforestation and flooding.

4️⃣ A Nigerian scientist created a software that detects fake drugs.
Dr. Simon Agwale developed an anti-counterfeit drug verification system using mobile technology, helping to fight fake medicines.

UI Student Breaks Guinness World Record With 600 Lanyards At Once

The University of Ibadan community is currently buzzing after one of its students pulled off a record-breaking feat.
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, Okojie Wisdom, a 100-level student from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, set a new Guinness World Record attempt by wearing 600 lanyards around his neck at the same time.

The event took place at the Faculty Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Science, where students and staff gathered to witness the unusual but historic achievement. With this, Okojie surpassed the previous world record of 509 lanyards, which was set by Salacnib “Sonny” Molina in the United States back in October 2022.

According to reports, the attempt was carefully supervised and documented, with video evidence and witnesses present, in line with Guinness World Records requirements. Okojie has already submitted the evidence to the Guinness World Records body, and while the certification process is ongoing, he has technically set a new bar at 600 lanyards.

The young Physics student had earlier made his intention known and had been preparing for months to ensure he broke the record. His feat has drawn reactions from UI students, alumni, and social media users, with many hailing it as a sign that Nigerian youths can achieve global recognition in different ways.

While some are praising the creativity and determination behind the attempt, others are asking if chasing Guinness World Records should really be a priority, considering the challenges young Nigerians face in academics, careers, and life generally.

What do you think?
👉 Should Nigerians keep going for Guinness World Records as a way of putting the country on the map?
👉 Or should the energy be directed to other areas like innovation, research, and entrepreneurship?

CareerWhy Do Some People Achieve More With The Same 24 Hours? by samuelige46(op): 8:18pm On Oct 04, 2025
A lot of people don’t realize how much time they actually waste in a day. Sometimes it’s not that life is hard, it’s just that our focus is scattered. The same 24 hours someone else uses to change their story is the same 24 hours we all have. The difference is how we manage it.

If you keep postponing your goals, months will pass and you’ll still be in the same spot. Start small, even if it’s just learning a new skill for 30 minutes daily or saving a little money consistently. With time it adds up.

Consistency is underrated but it’s the real secret.
