CareerRe: From University Graduate To Future Truck Driver — My Story by sarcasmovich: 5:37pm On May 08
onefourseven:
I don't know if this is the right section for this kind of thread, but if it isn't, moderators should kindly move it to the appropriate section.

Tomorrow, I’ll be starting my truck driving lessons at Giwost Training Center in Port Harcourt.

A lot of people may find it strange that a university graduate would decide to become a truck driver, but honestly, the reality of Nigeria today can humble anybody. White collar jobs are scarce, business capital is hard to raise, and travelling abroad for further studies or greener pastures is becoming more difficult financially.

I graduated during the 2019/2020 session from one of the most prestigious universities in Nigeria, and instead of sitting at home waiting endlessly for opportunities, I have decided to acquire a practical skill that can actually put food on the table.

I genuinely love driving and travelling. If not for insecurity issues in the country, I travel for fun whenever I have the chance. So in a way, truck driving feels like choosing a lifestyle I already enjoy (driving, travelling, meeting new places, and earning at the same time).

I know the journey won’t be easy, but I’m willing to learn from scratch and see where this path takes me. Hopefully, this thread can also motivate someone else who feels stuck.

I’ll also be updating this thread regularly till I land my first truck driving job, so NL'ers can follow the journey from training stage to becoming a professional driver.

Any advice from experienced truck drivers here will be appreciated.

BusinessRe: 5 Million Naira To Do Visa Or Setup A Business. by sarcasmovich: 5:34pm On May 08

USING 5 MILLION NAIRA TO DO VISA & USING 5 MILLION TO START UP A BUSINESS HERE IN NIGERIA, WHICH DO U PREFER? GOOD ADVICE PLEASE
5 m can't do much except you have a job offer already may be from middle East. What about thinking of doing mini importation to scale your 5 million naira to like 10 m and more. There are 3 apps that can help you with that, apart from running ads. Alternatively you can learn some skills and use them for selling products and still achieve like x5, 10 of the money. I am just imagining what if we can have a community of like 100,000 person beginning with like 10, then 100 and 1000. We can create a fork of BTC, the name can be something like Black Diamond or White Diamond . I can create it being a developer, but the main thing is building a network and having those interested.
