I have been closely following politics for a while now and must admit that Peter Obi checks a lot of the the right boxes that could make for a decent leader. I can’t help however the concern I feel when I read about or interact with his supporters. I understand the economic situation in Nigeria is presently devastating, but there are certain matters so many wouldn’t take for granted and ranks high on the list compared to stomach infrastructure. Here are some of the disturbing things I have noticed -
1. Pro dictator regimes e.g Russia - can someone please explain to me like I am a 5 year old why anyone in their right mind would support a country that invaded another sovereign nation and be ok with it.
2. Pro Trump - I don’t understand why folks whose ancestors were taken as slaves would support a racist bigot. Again please explain to me like I am 5 years old.
3. Anti LGBTQ - and please don’t quote the Bible on this argument. Their forefathers practiced this since time immemorial. Long before the white man came with his Bible. Tell me why you would support capital punishment for two consenting adults for loving who they love?
There are so many other disturbing traits about most of Obi’s supporters that I will add as I remember. Please add yours.

I lived in the north for several years and I can confirm to you that northerners are actually the most tolerant of LGBTQ in Nigeria.
The yorubas I have interacted with are very diplomatic around such issues.
Igbos however are the most angry and tactless sect around matters surrounding homosexuality. My guess is that, the reason for such show of emotion is self loathing. There is no reason to feel so passionately about how others chose who they love unless it personally affects you.

I can authoritatively tell you that most Trump voters and supporters who are black are Nigerians as well as pro Russia.
