Pap Smear early in pregnancy could reveal genetic disorders-New study

The new findings published in the Journal Science Translational Medicine suggest that pap smears could one day help doctors diagnose and treat babies with genetic diseases. The study also revealed that prenatal screening for genetic disorders could be carried out as early as five weeks into a pregnancy with a simple Pap smear.
Currently, methods for screening fetuses for genetic disorders are more invasive, and cannot be used until a woman is nine to 12 weeks pregnant, the researchers said. A pap smear involves scrapping a small sample of cells from a woman’s cervix.
Writing in their study, the researchers add that genetic disorders that are caused by a certain gene, such as the blood disorders thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, are not common, but still are a major health burden.
But being able to detect genetic disorders as early as possible is important because doctors can then begin treating some of these disorders a baby is finally delivered.

Although wrinkles can be said to be a sign of aging, it can also arise as a result of premature aging. Here are a 6 natural ways to fight wrinkles


Wear Sunscreen

It’s important you limit your exposure to the sun and stay away from tanning beds otherwise known as wrinkle beds. You can also wear sunglasses or reading glasses so you won’t squint; the latter often give rise to eye wrinkles. Just in case you’re using retinoid, retinol or vitamin c or any other anti-wrinkle cream on your face during the day then put your sunscreen on as well. If you think wearing anti-wrinkle products during the day actually makes it more effective, you should think again. Wear anti-wrinkle products during the night when it will be more effective. One of the main reasons why you should wear your sunscreen is that it limits your exposure to the sun is because the UV rays from the sun breaks down the collagen in your skin and thereby causing wrinkles.

Do not smoke

Smoking causes a lot of damage to your skin; it prevents your body from producing collagen. It also increases free radical damage that destroys collagen. Smoking also limits blood flow to your skin leading to dry skin and therefore, making it easier for you to get wrinkles.

Sleep on your back

Sleeping on your belly causes wrinkles on your forehead. Sleeping on your side causes you to get wrinkles on your cheeks and chin. If you can’t get out of the habit of sleeping on your back or side then get an anti-wrinkle pillow which helps reduce the pressure on your face as you sleep.

Sugar can cause glycation stress, which it turn damages your skin’s collagen and causes you to get wrinkles. So make sure most of your diet comes from foods that are not filled with sugar. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.

More water

Water is very important when talking about reducing wrinkles. It’s important to drink enough water in order to keep your body hydrated and for smoother skin. Not drinking enough water leads to drier skin, which makes it easier for you to get wrinkles. So, drink at least ½ your weight in ounces of water daily.
