Iranian Noise makers, this is for you....Bikonu

They claim US' show of firepower in region may have deterred threat of Iranian attacks

WASHINGTON • Iran has unloaded missiles from at least two small boats in its territorial waters in what two US officials said on Friday was a sign of easing tensions in the brewing confrontation between Washington and Teheran.

In recent days, US officials have described satellite photographs showing fully assembled missiles being loaded onto multiple boats in multiple Iranian ports.

The pictures were cited as evidence for concern that Iran's Revolutionary Guards were targeting US naval ships in the Persian Gulf and nearby waters.

Other intelligence picked up threats against commercial shipping and potential attacks by Shi'ite militias with Iranian ties against American troops in Iraq, officials have said.

But over the past two days, Iranian forces removed the missiles from two of the boats, according to a Defence Department official and a congressional official.

The boats, called dhows, had sailed between the Iranian ports of Jask and Chabahar in the Gulf of Oman, the officials said.

It is unclear how many other missile-laden Iranian vessels are sailing in Iranian waters. But the unloading of the missiles on the two small boats, coupled with the unhindered passage through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz on Thursday of two Navy destroyers, the USS McFaul and the USS Gonzalez, prompted some officials to claim that a recent show of US firepower may have deterred the threat of Iranian attacks on American forces.

Communications between the Revolutionary Guards and the Shi'ite militias in Iraq also seem to have slowed - but have not stopped, said the two officials.

The new information, given to members of the House Armed Services Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee during closed-door briefings on Friday, came as President Donald Trump sought to defuse the simmering confrontation with Iran in recent days.

Mr Trump has told Acting Defence Secretary Patrick Shanahan that he did not want to go to war with Iran.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has also asked European officials for help in persuading Iran to "de-escalate" tensions.

Even so, the confrontation is far from totally defused.

US-allied Bahrain warned its citizens yesterday against travel to Iraq and Iran, and asked those already there to return "immediately" for their safety, state news agency BNA said.

Military officials said they expected the Pentagon's Central Command in the coming weeks to request more air and naval forces in the Middle East - more to bulk up its deterrent force and avert future showdowns than to deal with the current tensions.

The entire House will be briefed on the Iran intelligence in a lawmakers-only forum next Tuesday. Nearly all of the Trump administration's top national security officials will lead the discussion.

You are probable ignorant about international politics, or should I say you know nothing about the Persians. No doubts Iran can't even dare confront the US unprovoked, that will be their end, but US will find it extremely difficult to defeat Iran in their soil, due to terrain, how determined the Persians are, allies in the region, etc.

Wars are not only won due to Sophisticated weapons, if not Isreal wouldn't have been defeated by rag tag Hezbollah militias, US wouldn't have been defeated by ill equipped Vietnam military, Saudi Arabia would have for a long time won the crisis in Yemen, etc.

Iran is threading with care, and they know they don't match the US, but if US dare attack her, they will fight US with all they have, The Persians fought Iraq will little international support even when Saddam Hussein was being supported by the entire western world, Iran back then had few weapons and depended largely on Foreign countries for military hardwares, yet they were able to push Iraq out of Iran and fought like never before, in fact they changed the objective of the war and was about encroaching Iraq. Iran fought to keep its sovereignty with tooth and nail even when Iraq was using chemical weapons on them.

Now fast forward to 2019, Iran has so many affiliated militias in Lebanon (Hezbollah, strongest in the world, that even the almighty Isreal would think twice before stealing Lebanese land), Houthi Shia groups (Yemen militias kicking Saudi ass in Yemen), Syria military (If not for Iran, The rebels would have defeated Bashar al-Assad), Iraq (Iraq is now an ally of Iran). That's not all, Iran has a homegrown military industry, they produce their own rockets, guns, submarines, aircraft (thou inferior), sophisticated missiles, etc, now tell me how you intend defeating a country such as this with ease? or you think Iran is Libya?

US knows this and they know invading Iran unprovoked will end their influence in the region, this war won't only end in Iran, it will affect all Middle East countries including Saudi Arabia and Isreal, Just an order from Iran and see how Hezbollah unleash their madness.

US is powerful, but wars are not always won by that. a war with Iran isnt what we should be praying for, as millions will perish. God heal the Middle East.
Rubbish and polarized... No need for noise making bro... A war with US marks the end of IRan. US provoked Russia severally for a war during Obama's time , but Russia didn't give in for a war.. .in his words Putin said the world will suffer if a war breaks out between Us/Russia and the US don't care.

The US are the world's most dangerous terrorists and Iran knows this... You can type all you can, but Iran will cry bitter for a war with the Masters of war.

Iran makes this and that.. .and think Us is busy chopping burgers and shawarmas!!??

Japan made that mistake of underestimating US. ..And Vietnam is a settled case study.

The US is undefeatable.

I don't wanna argue further on this issue, but if you are to search your heart truly, you will know I am saying the obvious truth, I have no issue with any tribe, I just hate the fact that Religion and Politics are being used to divide us and we ain't smart enough to see this! NK and IPOB also contribute massively to hatred! It worked from 1999 to 2007, I see no reason why it won't work again. SE and SS were dominated by strong men with far reaching power from state to federal level, from Orji Uzor Kalu to Igbinedion, all had Tinubulike tendencies and massive support from the people.
Where are they today?

One thing is clear here, there was no objetivity in the write up. From the opening paragraph it was clear that the Author speaks not on facts but emotional bias. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I'll leave mine. Tinubu is not a self acclaimed leader of APC, his handwork and dedication to the party made him so.

I hate to talk of ethnicity here but even the comment here on Nairaland seems to point to severe hatred of this man by people of SE/SS. If this is the case, I'll implore y'all to drink milk and calm down. This tactic was deployed in 2016 all the way till the last election, it didn't work! Tinubu is too smart for all that, Tinubu has no ambition to be vice president or president, he is a king-maker. The man certainly has his flaws but make no mistake, the SE/SS would gladly trade their top 5 politicians to get a man with a vision like Tinubu. Say what you will, he has certainly done more for the SW than the likes of Obasanjo or Bode George, he is JAGABAN....put some RESPECT on his name!
I admire the way you sing Tinubu's praises... However, I disagree with you on some fronts... SouthEasterners are Republicans by nature a Jagaban kind of politics may not work there.. which is the reason why I keep telling my people that producing a presidency with that kind of mindset may not be politically possible in Nigeria.

People can debate politics and that doesn't make them support any party or politician.

Tinubu's mathematics is simple: Ignore the SE/SS and concentrate on Buhari so that he can convince the North for him, while SW remains in his oocket.

His failure: Nirth is already divided over him, SE/SS rejects him. ... Only odudunwa votes for him.

Infact, I am surprised people like you don't believe power will ever gone down South again but you're in for a surprise come 2023,God's willing.
Can you remind me any of Tinubu's colleagues as Governor in 1999 who are still relevant today huh
The answer is NO
Tinubu is the only leader who engineers the ACN to win a Senatorial seat in Anambra through Chris Ngige and with hordes of faithfuls across the Niger Delta.
Nigerians who voted MKO Abiola without any religious or ethnic colouration in June 1993 will do it again in 2023.
Now you need Nigerians to vote without sentiment, but your kind is the master of Tribalism. .. .Sorry, Nigerians now understand Yorubas
