Merry100: Which one is "forget theory" as if basic economics suddenly stops applying in Nigeria? Are you seriously suggesting that we rely on luck instead of sound financial decisions? Perhaps those who bought cars earlier were fortunate or made a good gamble, but in today’s economy, that’s nothing more than wishful thinking.
The reality is that land will always be a superior asset to a car. My land keeps appreciating. I could choose not to build on it, sell it at any time, and still make a good profit.
There are far better ways for the average Nigerian to invest their money than sinking it into a depreciating liability like a car.
Just because something costs more today than it did yesterday doesn’t mean it’s a good investment - it simply means the naira is weaker. What you’re doing is celebrating inflation as 'investment.' A Camry that sold for 3-4M four years ago is now 14-18M, and you think that’s a good thing? That’s not wealth creation, it’s inflation and economic instability. If car prices continue to skyrocket, at some point, buying a car will no longer be a necessity for most Nigerians. Cars will become luxury items that only a few can afford. Demand will crash, supply will exceed demand, and the so-called ‘appreciating asset’ will turn into an overpriced liability the more.
For car prices to keep skyrocketing like that, the naira would have to keep collapsing even further against the dollar. This is something we should pray against, not wish for. By God’s grace, may Nigeria never spiral into an economic mess like Zimbabwe or Somalia. Maybe you missed my point, what I’m saying in essence is whoever needs a car and can afford to buy it now should get it. They shouldn’t because they want to invest and not buy the car because by the time their supposed investment yields , the car price would have tripled and they might not be able to afford it again. Buying a land when a car is what’s needed and more important at the time doesn’t make sense. Buying a car of 4m four years ago would have sounded like a bad financial decision, but if you still own that same car till now it’ll be considered a smart decision. We live in Nigeria, one should flow with reality on ground. Take for example, you needed a car but u bought a land instead for 4m four years, the land now worth 12m right( that’s even if the land is in a very viable area ) but the car price has also increased to 14m.. if you decide to sell the land and get the car because you have a pressing need for it now and you don’t have any means to source for money , you’ll barely be able to comfortably afford it. I know this might not apply to other countries and their economies , I’m talking from Nigeria perspectives . If you need something now and can afford it, buy it and invest whatever remains. Don’t put everything on investment hoping to cash out big later thinking you’ll be able to comfortably afford that ‘thing’. We all know it’s not a good thing, but one should always adapt and adjust accordingly until dem do the right thing. |

As a young man in his 20s without support system or family, please tell yourself the truth and give it what it takes to beat the matrix.
You can keep on being emotional or complaining or looking for sympathy , it doesn’t change the reality on ground .. Good luck to all of us. |

Merry100: A car appreciating in value due to a bad economy isn’t the same as being a good asset. If the economy improves tomorrow and car prices drop, does that mean your ‘asset’ has depreciated overnight? That’s not investment; that’s gambling.
Land, on the other hand, appreciates regardless of economic fluctuations. The fact that cars are now outrageously expensive doesn’t suddenly make them wealth-building tools - it just makes them overpriced liabilities.
Also, needing a car depends on one's hustle, but let's not confuse necessity with smart financial decisions. I appreciate your response.. In Nigeria, you need to forget theory and take the reality serious . You need to operate in the present and adjust accordingly to situation on ground. What you read in economy/finance textbook most times is not feasible in Nigeria of today. Example of such fallacy is believing that if you can’t buy something two times you shouldn’t buy it , I tell you, if you practice that now, you no go get one single property except you’re earning big! If buying a car is what will help your hustle or make you happy , don’t even think twice , go for it and come back later for land. Camry sold 3-4m 4 years ago is now 14-18m, If you didn’t buy it then when you had the money and when cost of living was low , your chances of buying it now is extremely low because you need to earn x4 and dont forget cost of living has tripled .. Let me add this, if you’re buying the land to build house , Walai you need to think am wella, body go tell u when it’s time for roofing and finishing. |

Merry100: Car is not even a good asset, it loses value over time. I once sold a car that was purchased for over 3 million naira for 1.3 million naira.
Car is advisable for married couples with children but not essential for single people. In times like these, car provides liability, I spend a lot on fuel and maintenance. In Nigeria, car is an asset, a car sold 5m two years ago is now close to 20m. Even lands ( except the ones bought in the main city ) don’t increase in value like that. Also a single person needs a car depends on his type of husle!. In Nigeria of today, car is a necessity’! |

GRACEGLORY: Bitcoin's price has reached a standstill at $84.7k as the FOMC meeting approaches, following a drop to $81k due to a market sell-off when trading began in New York. Those hoping for a Bitcoin price of $74K may not fully grasp the implications of such a level; if caution is not exercised, this price point could signify the conclusion of the current bull run for Bitcoin. All current fluctuations are bear-like until Bitcoin surpasses the $94k.
Expect more volatility tomorrow, it's going to be FOMC day do you think that will usher in altseason ? Or kasakasa is still on the way? |

They have the best customer support, na almost immediately dem dey respond and you can’t scam on their except you don’t want to use the platform again.. If dem dispute an active or a completed trade with you, even your balance on spot will be frozen ( you won’t be able to withdraw or even sell) until the issue is resolved. After 20 min of dispute they’ll reveal the trade partner phone number for you so you can reach out. Though trade volume on there is low compared to Bybit but you’ll make more money on their than Bybit danudanu As a P2P TRADER.. If you no giran wella, don’t use platforms like paxful or Bybit.

My conviction don strong pass the crypto 4 years cycle. if this means you want to keep buying eth, bro I’ll advise that you think about it again and not fall into sunk fallacy . You’re a whale, concentrate on btc alone for now until coast is clear. Eth has been under performing for over 4 years. I agree with not selling atall , imagine selling when you’re over 50% down, to me it doesn’t make sense, I’ll rather leave it and hope someday it comes back big. As it is now, anything that’ll make btc to trade under 70k, take it from me, eth go sèsín. At that point, eth under 1k is inevitable.. Unnegotiable I know people will say it’s not possible, but with what I’ve seen this past 2 years o, nothing is impossible again in this crypto shít, “ infact every of your bear expectation will be met” — Openheaven19Whoever is hodling alts this past 2 years has been running at loss or at best on ‘ no loss no gain’ depends on entry . What if you have already given them positive review after the deal was completed before they later come up like a week later to want to do charge back?
Will you be able to modify positive review already given to such a scammer after like a week that the deal has been concluded? not sure about that but what I’m sure is , this is 90% avoidable for a first time trader if you can go through that safety trick. doyin01: Someone finally stating the facts here !!!!!
Any sensible bank will investigate a chargeback request and won't just grant it without investigation.
Now look at it. , so for example it means anyone can just transfer millions to anybody for payment of goods or service and just go to the bank and request a chargeback and he or she will receive back the money which they sent before?? While the goods remain with them ?? Without the bank investigating?
So one can just walk into where they are selling car , I pay for a car of 5million , drive the car home after payment , then later request for a chargeback and my bank will just credit back the 5million to me just like that ? So I collected my 5million back and the car remains with me ?? Really ??
Any banks that allow such itself is a scam bank Na the latest scam be this on Bybit . If you’re trading large amount of money on Bybit p2p, First of all, spend atleast 2-5min reading the first 30 negative feedbacks on the buyer’s profile .. .. if he’s a scammer, you’ll atleast see 5-10 people’s complains on same thing .. High completion rate alone doesn’t work! |
