Politics / Abba Kyari’s Family Welcomes Him After Release From Prison (Photos) by BeeBeeOoh(m): 6:52am
Abba Kyari, the suspended deputy commissioner of police, was warmly welcomed by members of his family and friends after his release from the Kuje Custodial Centre on Friday.

A video and pictures posted on X on Saturday showed Kyari sitting with his family members, who beamed excitedly.

In one image, balloon decorations are seen in a house with the message, “Welcome Back”.

Kyari’s release comes 27 months after his arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

He was arrested on February 14, 2022, after the NDLEA declared him wanted over alleged links with an international drug cartel.

On March 7, 2022, Kyari was arraigned alongside Sunday Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba, and John Nuhu, members of the police intelligence response team (IRT).

Others are Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne, two suspected drug traffickers who were arrested at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.

Upon arraignment, Kyari and four other defendants pleaded not guilty.

However, Umeibe and Ezenwanne, the sixth and seventh defendants, pleaded guilty and were convicted accordingly.

On May 22, 2024, Emeka Nwite, the presiding judge, granted Kyari a two-week bail to allow him to partake in the burial rites of his mother, Yachilla Kyari, who died on May 5.

The judge ruled that Kyari should deposit his international passport with the court and report to any NDLEA formation near him within the bail period.

The suspended DCP had also filed another application seeking bail.

The judge fixed May 31 for the determination of Kyari’s main application for bail in the drug trafficking charge.

The court granted Kyari bail on Friday. He was released shortly after perfecting his bail conditions.

It's funny how you have the gall to bring up sentiments when that's exactly what you did in your first paragraph. Do you think there is any business on earth that doesn't have negative reviews? Do you think any business is above criticism? Is Erisco God that cannot be blasphemed?

What do you this is?

Chioma didn't defame anything. Her comment that the product was "killing people" was simply an exaggeration and figure of speech. You guys know this but want to be mischievous and obtuse.

Na waa o. Madam can you just stop? Figure of speech again? Haba!
I don't know if you are married, but imagine you are married and I go to your husband and tell him that you have been sleeping around with several men in your community. I also went and publicized it to the community that you are a married prostitute. And when you confront me, I ask you why are you complaining, that it is just a figure of speech. I guess you will give me a high five, right?

Let’s say they arrest them , charge them to court and sentence them to prison. So, what will now be ur gain Dolapo ?

The Nigeria police that could not solve high profile murder cases like Bola Ige’s , Dipo Dina’s, Harry Marshall’s etc is suddenly proactive in arresting people who are not singing the new national anthem 3 days after it was signed into law .

Ceasefire means defeat for Israel and Benjamin Neyanyahu. Don't you get it?. It is a defeat because at the outstart, he laid out his military objectives clearly that he wants to destroy Amass and ensure that Amass does not remain in power and doesn't pose threat to Israel again.

Eight months later, Israel did not achieve its military objectives. No top Amasss leaders captured or killed but Amass has killed few top Israeli commands. This is a defeat.

Israel destroying Gaza's civilian infrastructure and killing thousands of civilians is not a victory. It is war crimes. He knows better that accepting ceasefire is a defeat and his govt will collapse and he faces prison.

Chapter Al-Isra (Bani Israeli) verse 4-8.

4. And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture, that indeed you would do mischief on the earth twice and you will become tyrants and extremely arrogant!

5. So, when the promise came for the first of the two, We sent against you slaves of Ours given to terrible warfare. They entered the very innermost parts of your homes. And it was a promise (completely) fulfilled.

6. Then We gave you once again, a return of victory over them. And We helped you with wealth and children and made you more numerous in man power.

7. (And We said): "If you do good, you do good for your ownselves, and if you do evil (you do it) against yourselves." Then, when the second promise came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to make your faces sorrowful and to enter the mosque (of Jerusalem) as they had entered it before, and to destroy with utter destruction all that fell in their hands.

8. [And We said in the Taurat (Torah)]: "It may be that your Lord may show mercy unto you, but if you return (to sins), We shall return (to Our Punishment). And We have made Hell a prison for the disbelievers.

Nelson Mandela who was frustrated after he realized that he can't make any changes shey?

Guy we know all about politics and voting than anyone on this planet so we will never ever vote for any imperfect human.

For your information Nelson Mandela regretted his refusal to follow his first wife who became one of Jehovah's Witnesses when she introduced the truth to him.
Nelson thought he could make a change with his team who were struggling for independence back then but he later realized that all those killed and his imprisonment was a waste of time that's why he declined running for a second tenure in office.
His first wife and her children are members of Jehovah's Witnesses until her death.

So you know nothing about what you're arguing here! smiley

Known and loved around the world for his commitment to peace, negotiation and reconciliation, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was South Africa's first democratically elected president (1994-1999). Mandela was an anti-apartheid revolutionary and political leader, as well as a philanthropist with an abiding love for children.

We know your madness and insanities peddling brains never sees good in others apart from your better performing performance group packed into your lies and manipulations filled brains. The same wife and children didn't end apartheid that Mandela served years in prison while the struggle was on. Sentiment rules Nigeria. That is why majority of Nigerians condemn the action ERISCO Foods takes against the lady. Most nigerians place emotions above facts. The best way to handle the case is for the public to send apologies to the brand and assure the brand that its product will not be boycotted. You cannot save the lady by threatening the company. If you keep threatening the company, the company will choose to die as a hero than dying as a coward.

1.
Right from the moment the lady defamed the product, sentimentalists quickly began to beat drums of boycott against the product. According to ERISCO, the demand for the defamed product sharply dropped following the defamation. But sentimentalists now claim that the defamation would not have affected the brand. They claim that what will affect the brand is the action being taken against the lady. So, the brand should have waited to fold up before challenging the defamation? Before you judge a person, put yourself in his or her shoes.

2.
The lady lied against the product by claiming it kills people. Who will keep quiet when accused of killing people? Who? If you condemn ERISCO Foods but cannot keep quiet when you are accused of murder, you are nothing but a hypocrite.

3.
I would have condemned the action of ERISCO Foods if the lady tendered a sincere apology and the public joined her to ask the brand for forgiveness. The same public that the brand's survival depends on believes the lady's claim about the product and threatens to boycott the product. So, the company is trying to save its reputation.

4.
I know she had miscarriage while in police custody, and it saddens me. But we should also know that many workers in ERISCO Foods may loose their jobs and die of hunger because of her defamation. Are you saying it is right for her to try to kill people but it is wrong for the people to try to defend themselves? ERISCO Foods didn't get her arrested to cause her the miscarriage. ERISCO Foods got her arrested for the sake of justice. The miscarriage is a coincidence, not a deliberate action.

5.
She said the paste contains Sugar. It is true, and the company never said otherwise. On the body of the paste, Sugar is listed as one of the ingredients in the paste. But the sentimentalists quickly joined her to cry that the company is deadly for putting Sugar in the paste. They implied that the company has been deceiving the public. How? Does the company hide the fact that the product contains Sugar? If not that you are stupid, you would have checked the ingredients in the paste before displaying your stupidity.

6.
The company explained that the paste is a multipurpose one that can substitute butter for bread. I saw some comments saying that such paste is being consumed for the same purpose in some Western countries. So, ignorance landed the lady and her fans into this mess. Who does a review without a thorough research?

Ignorance is truly bliss but not an excuse! Call Nigeria whatever but nowhere in the world would you make an unsubstantiated claim that a brand kills people and you would walk free! None! Except that brand doesn't have a reputation to protect.

Writing a review and making allegations without proof are two differ not things. Some of you think it is Nairaland where you can type any sentimental and tribalistic nonsense that floats your boat, naa, some people have built a reputation and they will protect it with all they've got. Then company decides to take it up and all the time she was in detention, it was a court remanding her. So cant understand how some of us say her detention was illegal.

Even here on Nairaland and social media, some talk recklessly and carelessly not minding the consequences. People like you will watch and clap for them. Then when they are asked to come and defend their positions, you whip up cheap sentiments.

Travel to a working country. REFUNDS and DISCOUNTS are given for negative reviews. Nobody goes to prison.

Travel to an advanced country and experience sanity.

Where exactly is it in the law or constitution that explicitly states that public criticism of a product is illegal or attracts jail time?

Can only happen in a banana Republic where freedom of speech is not guaranteed.

Pickton is one of the most notorious serial killers in Canadian history, bringing his victims to his pig farm and feeding their remains to his animals.

Awon team 'saner clime', this is insane o.

Not even the suspected human cannibal, Clifford Orji, was this brazenly heartless enough to kill tens of women, feed their remains to Pigs then publish a book on his crime from the prison. Smh.

When they tell you the grass is greener on the other side, remember Robert Pickton, the serial killer, is a Canadian.

I will keep shouting this .

DO everything to prevent court cases in Nigeria . It will humble you . You might get justice but you will go through a lengthy case that will take years . Imagine if this guy is innocent . He would have spent 2 years in prison for a crime he did not commit . Now imagine people who can’t even afford a lawyer . Our justice system needs to be revamped
