Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja: His Life and Times, SECURITYNEWSNG.COM reports. Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was a renowned Nigerian Army officer who made significant contributions to the country’s military. Born on February 28, 1968, in Irepodun, Osun State, Lagbaja spent his early life in Osogbo, where he attended St. Charles Grammar School and Local Authority Teachers College.
Lagbaja’s military career began in 1987 when he joined the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of the 39th Regular Course. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant on September 19, 1992, into the Nigerian Infantry Corps. Throughout his career, Lagbaja held various command positions, including:
– Platoon Commander: 93 Battalion (1992-1995) and 72 Special Forces Battalion (1995-2001) – Commanding Officer: 72 Special Forces Battalion Makurdi (2012-2013 and 2014-2015) – Chief of Staff: Headquarters 8 Task Force Division, Monguno (2016) – General Officer Commanding: Headquarters 82 Division (March 2021 – August 2022) and Headquarters 1 Division (August 2022 – June 2023).

The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of seven individuals for various fraud-related offenses before Justices R.M. Aikawa and Hauwa'u Buhari of the Federal High Court, Kaduna, and Justice A. Isiaka of the State High Court.

- Agbecha Fanem Samson (a.k.a Michelle Pfeiffer): Five years imprisonment or N500,000 fine for money laundering. - Shamsudeen Abdulkarim Alubankudi (a.k.a. Keren Adler): Three years imprisonment or N500,000 fine for impersonation and cybercrime. - Paul Bukar Wadai (a.k.a. Odd Murphy): Seven years imprisonment or N700,000 fine. - Onomza Emmanuel Gwamna (a.k.a. Dave Owen): Two years imprisonment or N600,000 fine. - Godswill Victor Effiong: Three years imprisonment or N700,000 fine. - Esogban Godtemple (a.k.a Lahm Moses): Five years imprisonment or N600,000 fine. - Odeyale Victor (a.k.a Candice Weiss): Two years imprisonment or N600,000 fine.

University of Port Harcourt Final Year Student Sentenced to 14 Years for Internet Fraud, SECURITYNEWSNG.COM reports.
Henry Nathaniel Ekanem, a final year student at the University of Port Harcourt, has been convicted and sentenced to 14 years in prison for internet fraud by Justice A. T. Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. However, I found that the sentence was actually two years imprisonment on each of the seven counts, or an option of fine of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) payable into the Consolidated Revenue Account of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Ekanem was found guilty of obtaining money under false pretense and impersonation, specifically for defrauding Diana Roskov of $22 by pretending to be Coran Capsha, manager of singer Chris Stapleton. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in September 2024 for internet-related offenses.
The judge ordered the forfeiture of all phones recovered from Ekanem, considered proceeds of crime, and required him to sign an affidavit of good behavior before the court. This verdict is part of the EFCC's ongoing efforts to combat internet fraud in Nigeria, with similar cases resulting in prison sentences and fines for convicted fraudsters.
Two Internet Fraudsters bag Four Years Jail Term in Port Harcourt
Justice S. Pam of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers state has convicted and sentenced two internet Fraudsters: Emmanuel Wisdom and Donald Etege to two years imprisonment each for impersonation and obtaining money under false pretence.
They were jailed on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 upon being arraigned by the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on one -count separate charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretence and impersonation.
The lone count against Eteg's reads: "That yo Donald Etege sometime in 2024 in Port Harcourt Rivers State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with the intent to defraud obtained the total sum of One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars Only ($1,500) from one Lisa Ricks under the pretence that you are a Bitcoin Trader, a pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the said Act.
The count against Wisdom reads; That you, Emmanuel Wisdom [a.k.a Sam Freidrich] between the 10th day of August and the 1st day of October, 2024, in Port Harcourt, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, obtained the sum of One Thousand, Two Hundred United States of America Dollars ($1,200) from one Tony Grozdan, as investment in cryptocurrency trade, which you claimed to have the capacity to manage and yield profit thereon, which pretext you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1) (b) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the Same Act.
They both pleaded guilty when the charges were read to them separately.
In view of their pleas, prosecution counsel: K. W. Chukwuma-Eneh and E. K. Bakam called witnesses, tendered some documents as evidences which were admitted by the court and marked as exhibits. They prayed the court to convict and sentence the defendants accordingly.
Counsel to the defendants: O. F. Nwogu and C. Christopher did not oppose the prayers by the prosecution. They rather prayed the court to temper justice with mercy stressing that the defendants are first time offenders with no previous criminal records.
Justice Pam convicted and sentenced the defendants to two years imprisonment each or an option of fine of N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) payable into the Consolidated Revenue Account of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The judge also ordered that all the phones recovered from them should be forfeited to the government, being proceeds of crime. They should also depose an affidavit of good behaviour before the court.
Etege and Wisdom started their journey to the Correctional Service when they were both arrested by operatives of the Commission sometime in October, 2024 for internet fraud and other fraud-related activities. They were charged to court and convicted.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against cybercrime, arresting four individuals suspected of hacking into commercial banks’ computer systems. Chima Anthony Nwigwe, believed to be the mastermind behind the operation, was taken into custody alongside Effiong Victor Emmanuel, Mohammed Bello Mahmud, and Daminan Ali.

Kano Police Crack Down on Thuggery: Notorious Gundura, 14 Others Arrested,SECURITYNEWSNG.COM reports.

During interrogation, Zakari confessed to being part of the kidnapping syndicate, revealing that his share of the ransom was N1.2 million.
