On Plantain/Banana this nematode invades and feeds on the cortex of the roots causing lesions and cavities. The nematode seldom feeds on vascular tissues. Nematode damage to roots results in reddish, elongated flex, parallel to the root axis. The discoloured areas enlarge as the nematode and progeny feed.
