Contact fungicides

Contact fungicides (also called protectants) are used against foliar diseases. They remain on the surface of plants and act by preventing spore germination. However, they are only effective on the leaves present at the moment of application and can be easily washed away by rain. Their main drawback is the need for repeated applications to protect the new leaves.
