The Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, made this known on Tuesday in Ibadan at an interactive session with stakeholders in food and drugs manufacturing. The NAFDAC boss said that alcohol packaged in sachets had greatly contributed to increasing drug and alcohol abuse in society. Adeyeye said that the agency would also phase out the use of pet bottles used in the packaging of alcohol to address the increasing spate of abuse in the country. She said: “The agency remains undaunted in its efforts to reduce the incidence of substandard and falsified products as well as the smuggling and abuse of various products”. Adeyeye also said that in order to encourage local manufacture of herbal medicines, the agency was collaborating with traditional herbalists and researchers. “The agency is keen on having herbal medicines widely accepted as safe, hence we will continue to test them for clinical efficacy before giving full registration status. “We are also on a mission to turn herbal medicines into products that can be commercialised through collaboration between traditional herbalists and academic researchers. “In encouraging local manufacturing of medicines that are usually imported, the agency will enforce a five- year importation permit given to manufacturers with a mandate that they produce five years plan geared towards local manufacturing upon renewal. “In addition, the agency will also give five-year exclusive rights to companies to market their products without competition if they develop food and drugs that show demonstrable research and development innovation. “This development will be effective before the end of the first quarter of the year,” she said. https://see-naija.com/ |

We make use of commercial buses frequently and if the driver has no conductor, a passenger will take up the role and collect our monies; that passenger will still pay his fare. The other day, the Keke napep I boarded stopped on the road, we had to come down and push for a long distance before it started, all the driver said was “thank you”, but he still collected our money. Another bus I entered at night had no functional headlamp, I literally had to use the touch with me to show him the way; I still paid him. Or is it when I enter a taxi and sit in the front, the driver will say, ‘oga na two for front o’. The person that sits close to the gear handle will still pay the same fare as others. Why am I saying all these? Nigerians don’t care about what happens during the journey, all we need is to arrive at our destination. If our leaders were smart enough, they will know that it doesn’t take much to please Nigerians; just do something and you will be applauded. Gov. Wike is the man of the people in Rivers state because he did (or is doing) something. The projects he is executing “may”not be up to the allocation he receives monthly, but he is doing something. Nobody is asking for the remaining balance. Let our leaders do something! https://see-naija.com/just-do-something/

As if cast in a spell, I watched as a young man left the queue at the ATM stand, to claim the card of the last person who had withdrawn and forgotten her card. We all kept quiet as he told the security officer that he knows the owner, and in his own words, “She is my neighbor, and she is very careless.” Behind me, I heard someone whisper, “Why not wait until the owner comes for it?” Looking at others whispering to themselves, I concluded within me that no one really cared, we are all self-centered; the mind-your-business set of persons. I was distracted again as I saw a plumy lady in her late 30s look all confused shouting, “Please I forgot my ATM card.” The security officer walked up to her and asked for any means of identification, luckily enough she had one; claimed her card and left. Almost immediately, all eyes were on the young man who had claimed to know the card’s owner. He, in turn, looked so quickly and confessed he didn’t know this woman and had thought it was another one (lady) that left. Something chilled in me as I realized the lady would have become a victim of identity theft if the card had been given to the so-called neighbor. This scenario brought me back to the landmark on what identity theft is and how to avoid being victimized. Identity theft is a concept affiliated to impersonation of one’s identity. It involves everything ranging from stolen passports, medical theft, creating fake social network profiles, to the use of fraudulent messages requesting for your bank details. This act isn’t a new criminal activity, it’s been around for years, and of cause improved methods of getting people‘s information for fraud keeps growing by the day. In fact, identity theft is as old as technology itself. In Nigeria today, there are basically two known and common means of identity theft: The use of social media network to scam people and The use of account information or an update of one’s personal banking details through phone calls, text messages, and emails. Note that these are all scams. It is very necessary to always verify with your bank if you are sent these messages or if you get a call directly from these scammers, remember your bank will never ask you for your bank details. Being smart might not be enough to protect you from these fraudsters, to be alert should be the key or watchword. As you go about your daily activities, be careful with whom you share your personal details; even your best friend might get tempted too. Also, learn not to give out your private information on social media. As technology improves, so do these fraudsters improve in their strategies. Therefore, it is advisable to carry out research on how well you can protect your information. Lastly, report any suspicious case of identity theft, credit card fraud and phishing to the appropriate authority, so that the culprits would be prosecuted under the provisions of the criminal code, penal code and the ATF Act 2006. Be vigilant and use wisdom; anybody can be a victim of identity theft if caution is thrown to the wind. https://see-naija.com/category/be-inspired/

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at the weekend appraised his position on current political developments in the nation and surmised that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must provide a better choice for Nigerians. Babangida, who spoke in Minna, Niger state yesterday while receiving members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP led by its National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, also expressed satisfaction with the rebranding so far achieved by the PDP ahead of the 2019 general elections. “I am happy at your assurances that there will be no imposition in all your primary elections. It is all about choice and you have promised to provide the best choice,” he said. Commending the elective National Convention of the PDP, the former president noted that not a few Nigerians believed that the national convention will hold adding however that the outcome was successful. “Your ‘Reposition, Rebrand and Regain’ agenda is working and I mean particularly the rebranding. Some people believed that having been in government since 1999, the PDP will find opposition difficult but you are carrying on well and providing a better alternative. “You have also not abandoned the people in times of crisis. I monitored your activities in Benue, Taraba and you just said your party has sent members to Zamfara to commiserate with the people. Surely you have made the people the centre of your return and they will not forget you because you were with them in time of sorrow. Earlier, in the meeting, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, had told Babangida that former leaders of our nation must rally together to save our nation from the current administration. He lamented the killings and economic hardships, which Nigerians contend with on daily basis, stressing that our country has never witnessed the type of division “our people are currently facing. “As a leader, you made the welfare of Nigerians the thrust of governance. You were also concerned about the peace and unity of this nation. You created and built people as well as institutions. “Today, our nation is drifting and as leaders you cannot afford to keep quiet and watch on the sides. Leaders like you must come together and take a firm position on how to save our nation from the precipice. “PDP remains the only alternative platform based on our experience more so because we have learnt our lessons. We have resolved to play by the rules and operate within the confines of our party’s and the Nigerian constitution. “We are rebranding and repositioning to make our party open to all and regain the land for the people. We are determined to give opportunities to the youths and our women. We also want to mentor a new generation of young Nigerians that will take our nation to the next millennium”, Prince Secondus said. He therefore urged all Nigerians to rally with the repositioned PDP to restore the nation once more to the path of peace, national unity and economic prosperity.

http://see-naija.com/naija-news/obasanjo-visits-jonathan-in-otuoke/ Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister has said President Muhammadu Buhari and governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are behaving like “ritualits.” The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain made the remark while reacting to the meeting between the president and the APC governors in Daura, Katsina State earlier on Friday. Fani-Kayode said Buhari should have visited the state following the massacre of 41 people by Fulani herdsmen and not hold the meeting in Daura to discuss 2019. In a tweet, the former Minister wrote: “41 people slaughtered by Fulani terrorists in Zamfara and the Governor of Zamfara and our President refuse to express concern or go there.Instead, they went to Daura for a meeting with APC governors to discuss 2019. Leaders don’t behave like this: only ritualists behave like this!.” Recall that the APC governors who visited Buhari had said their mission to Daura, Katsina State, was mere to condole with the President over the loss of two members of his extended family. The Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, said this when he fielded questions from newsmen after the closed-door meeting. He dismissed media reports that their mission to Daura was aimed at convincing the President to seek re-election in the 2019 presidential election.

This Glass Lets You Drink Two Different Beers In One Sip Some people like regular beer. Others prefer those fancy craft brews. Still, some folks like to take their beers two at a time. You know, those sophisticated connoisseurs who layer one beer on top of the other right on the pint before chugging them down. The Dual Chamber Beer Glass is designed for that last group of people. An alternative to layering two beers on top of each other, the glass allows you to pour the two beers into their own individual chambers, so they mix together only right when you’re drinking. Whether you’re mixing a dark stout and a pilsner, a Guinness and a pale ale, or some newfangled combo you’ve grown to love, the outfit claim this glass will allow you to enjoy it a whole lot better. Designed by the Pretentious Beer Glass Company, the Dual Chamber Beer Glass has a divider that runs right down the middle, splitting the drinking vessel into two separate compartments. The divider, however, ends towards the lip, allowing the two beverages to combine once they slowly slide into your mouth. Each one is handcrafted from glass, so expect each drinking vessel to be slightly different in exact dimensions and finish just like many handmade products. It measures 6 x 3 inches (height x diameter), with an interior chamber that can hold around 13 ounces of swill. Not being familiar with mixing beers, we’re not entirely sure how the experience will differ when you separate the beers instead of pouring them in layers, although this should help you enjoy drinking a Half and Half at home without accidentally blending them together incorrectly. According to the outfit, having the Dual Chamber Beer Glass separate the chambers should make preparing those types of drinks easier, since it saves you from having to carefully pour each layer using a jigger. That’s right, you can make a Half and Half just by pouring the beer in straight from the bottle, which should make your amateur bartending duties just a little bit easier. As a secondary benefit, the outfit claims, having both beers sitting side by side on a single glass allows you to enjoy their scents simultaneously instead of only catching a whiff of the beer that settles on top. Do note, having the beers mix at the lip when you’re drinking means some of the separated beverages might end up jumping over to the other side. As such, the darn things don’t exactly stay unmixed, although only minimal amounts of each beer should mix (the outfit estimates five to ten percent by the end), so it will preserve most of the taste until the time you take another sip. Each one is packaged in a branded gift box with a card that lists recommended beer pairings, so you can use it as reference for combinations you might http://see-naija.com/technology/this-glass-lets-you-drink-two-different-beers-in-one-sip/ |
Real Madrid is planning to launch a mega move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba this summer. On Thursday, there were reports that Pogba is having regrets over his £89million move from Juventus. The France midfielder won two trophies last season but has seen the Red Devils fail to stay in contention to win the Premier League for a second straight season, with rivals Manchester City coasting toward the title this term. Pogba has also fallen out with manager Jose Mourinho over his best position in the team. The Sun, however, claims United would be unwilling to sell him after just two years and with three years left on his five-year contract. Real would have to offer in excess of £120m to even stand a chance of landing the 24-year-old. http://see-naija.com/sports/real-madrid-ready-to-launch-pogba-bid-after-player-falls-out-with-mourinho/ |
