FiveFootNinja:
We threw away the game to Morocco fr. Look at these ones today. cry
Today's Pens were also poor. Only Lookman and the last Egyptian played good penalties

yinkeys:
First touch don't mean sheet
Osimheen will get you goals and that's all that matters
See how isak and gyokores are struggling despite 1st touch lol
Can you guys put some respect on that guy's name
This is very disrespectful to a generational talent
In the streets boys go beat you o
Why does everyone respect Spain?
It is cuz they produce technically secure players in every position.
Why do we talk about press resistant players like Cazorla, Modric, D.silva?

Most of Osimhen's goals are one touch (header or leg). Haaland scores those, but he also receives some fast passes to score some one on ones. Osihmen homself respects Berbatov for a reason.

Osimhen is close to world class but he is not. He is not great with his legs. Check all the naija trained players at this Afcon, how many of them have good 1st touch? It is the innit boys that are assured in possession. Chukwueze is about the most technical Naija trained player and I still see some poor touches from him.

Osihmen could not help with gameplay against Maroc cuz of his poor 1st touch which overworked Akor. Iwobi gave him a ball in the box that he could not control in the Maroc game. Haaland could probably do better with it.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by segestical10: 7:49pm On Jan 17
It is clear that we need 2 mobile strikers to play well. Yekini and Amokachi, Emenike and Ideye. This time we had Akor and Osimhen. We should have won if a fair game against Maroc. I think Awoniyi should have been invited to play the Akor role

A brain; Oliseh, Mikel, Iwobi. It was when Chuks and Iwobi went off that CDR dominated the match in the 2nd half of thw WCQ.

So, we need other striker, maybe Durosinmi.
Another brain, maybe Carney or the Torino boy, another inside forward/winger like V.Moses/Lookman (who dribbles with an assist or goal in mind, unlike moses simon who just dribbles). We need to Identify a lookman replacement.

For penalties, they were all poor. The good ones were Lookman and the last Egyptian (Saber)

TheSuperNerd:
Carney Chukwuemeka
Faustino Anjorin
Lesley Ugochukwu

They are all 3/3 midfielders (Technical, tactically progressive and also importantly, Physically built & aggressive).

My only issue is if we can recruit them or if they will honor our interest.
I've seen news that Carney wants to play for Nigeria. Tino will play cuz England won't call him. Leslie is the one I hear is not keen, maybe cuz of bad xperience of his uncle with SE. .. but France won't call him too

Onyedika fall my hand in that Physical aggression aspect. Yes, he helped out a few times defensively and progressively BUT on the whole he was timid in duels. Like a soft ginger breadman. Haba! I know he is technically brilliant and can pull off great passing but he was being tossed in nearly every duel and in nearly every moment he was pressed.

If I have 2 or 3 more midfield lads built and aggressive like Bassey and they have the technical and tactical traits to excel, then forget it, it is over for Africa and the world too. Add those 2-3 to Ndidi and Onyeka and we are really cooking. Add the experienced Iwobi creative spice and it is the top off.

Akor tried ooo. Akor did use his physicality in certain passages of plays. I remember him powering past 2-3 markers on the right, holding them off with a fine mix of raw power and technical nous and won a throw in the offensive half.
If Onyedika was like Akor in the physical aggression aspect... he would have coped better against the Moroccan press as he had the technical part on lock already.

My midfield scouting just got narrowed. Easy to find midfielders but are they technical, progressive and aggressive? Na the main focus be this, all 3 must be present not 2/3 but if it is 2/3 then one of the 2 must be physical aggression. Would be a huge advantage too if the MFs have fine height. I am now more obsessed with the Yaya Profile.
Calvin chukwuemeka is another option. Needs to leave dortmund for regular play time. Another is that former chelsea boy at Torino

Progress the ball and beat the press is one... but there is a third element. Physical aggression. These midfielders must be badass aggressive as well as technical.

I know I am a brain over brawn football lover but I prefer a player that can do both with immaculate balance. Even if the balance is decent, I go still manage and build on am.

This is why it hurts seeing Christantus Uche used as a striker at Palace. That is one guy to put in the middle and come up against such a system. BEASTLY strong, technical, progressive, and also not slow. A Yaya profile.

Being Progressive and Technical like Onyedika is no longer enough. If you are not Physically aggressive, na minus be that.

This is where Onyedika really failed today. He should have stepped up his "aggression meter" to ensure his other qualities shone through against the press.

No way that Moroccan press will bully or push back a midfield of Powerhouse yet technical midfield players.
Nah, supernerd ... now I respect you. You said my mind on solutions to the problem. Christantus Uche was who I was þhinking of this morning. Sad that Michael Olise is not playing for Nigeria. Can't nlame him though.

Like I said before the game... the coach had no plan B. Baleba was marked in the last game and I expected the same to happen to Iwobi. Chelle did not prepare for that outcome. I was expecting Dele to start as I heard he trained with Iwobi and Onyeka. The coach froze on the biggest stage.

As for Pks, Chuks should have been brought in 5 mins before the match ends to get a feel for the game before PK.

Since nobody has done opposition scouting here...
Maroc has scored 5 of 9 goals from setpieces.

Saibari and Aynaoui in Midfield are a big unit, showing their aggression in the cameroon match.
If we get past them, I believe we can trouble their CBs.

Their Wbs are ball-playing, strong defenders. It now depends on if Hakimi will overlap, since mosgtof our attacks come from our left which will be Hakimi's side.

El-khanouss is a press resistant creator linked with arsenal before going to Germany

El-kaabi might not be the biggest but he is a pesky nuisance always on the move. Another possible danger if brought is Hamza Igamane of Lille. He benched 24 goal Cyriel Dessers at Rangers
