These APC people are so organized and very professional in some things!

These are the official portraits of the Number 1 and 2 men. With these we won't be seeing funny photos in Ojuelegba and Oshodi looking left and right or looking up or down in funny clothing!

I am hopi. Thng they continue in this line of being organised.

Crime / Re: Motorist bribes Ondo policemen N10,000 to avoid frame-up by segzyj(m): 1:15pm On May 04, 2015
SmartChoices:
A motorist, Niya Ezra, says he was forced to bribe four policemen attached to the Ondo State Police Command’s Fast Strike Squad N10,000 to avoid being set up as an armed robber.

Two of the policemen were identified as Sergeant Idoko Edache and F. Temitope.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Ezra, an employee of the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research, was travelling to the Akungba area of Ondo State to check his sick sister on April 25 when the incident happened.

Ezra said he had slowed down at about 12am on Ondo Road in Akure for the cops and wound down the glass of his vehicle.

He said, “They are Fast Strike Squad with a patrol van marked, 04. I slowed down, wound down the door glass of my jeep and greeted them. They looked inside my car and told me to go.”

Ezra said as his journey continued, he was flagged down by another patrol team and the policemen ordered him to go back to the previous point for his vehicle to be properly checked.

He said, “When I got there, they told me to park near a bush and proceeded to search the car. I folded both the front and back seats of the vehicle for them. They discovered I did not have anything incriminating. They checked my vehicle particulars and the chassis number and confirmed they are correct.”

After the search, the victim said the team suddenly became hostile and ordered him to pay N10,000 or be arrested for armed robbery.

He said he initially pleaded with the policemen, telling them that he was on his way to see his sick sister.

He added that after four hours of pleading, he saw that the policemen were serious about framing him up for armed robbery. He added that he was forced to pay the N10,000.

“They threatened to frame me up for robbery if I failed to cooperate. At a point, one of them said if they really wanted to deal with me for proving stubborn, they would radio their station that an armed robber had been arrested.

“I was shocked. I then pretended as if I wanted to urinate and went to a corner to switch on the recorder of my handset. I begged with N1,000; increased it to N3,000; and then N5,000; yet, they refused. They said they would not collect even N9,999”

In the recorded conversation made available to our correspondent, a policeman, who spoke in pidgin, was heard saying, “Your money is N10,000 I don tell you (referring to Ezra). Even N9,999 is not acceptable. When we stopped you why you no stop? You don suffer us instead of you to pack jeje (gently).

“Where one army (soldier) dey, una go pack, come down inside motor, carry leg go meet am and put money for inside drum.”

Ezra said he paid the money to avoid being set up by the cops. He said he had confidence in the police until his experience on the fateful day and urged that the cops be disciplined for the act.

He said, “They did not see me with anything incriminating. But I had to bribe them at that moment because I saw that they were very desperate. It means they have been doing it to innocent citizens. I want them to be brought to justice.”

The police spokesperson, Ondo State Command, Wole Ogodo, said the cops had been quizzed and found culpable. He added that they had been locked up in custody as a preliminary discipline.

He said, “He (Edache) wanted to deny, but I told him he can’t. Everybody knows me. I don’t compromise on discipline.

“Presently, I have ordered that he and his team members be locked up. For further disciplinary action to be taken on them, it requires that the man comes forward to give evidence. I thank him for being able to identify two of the cops.

“Meanwhile, on behalf of the command, I want to appeal to the man not to use the few bad eggs to judge the entire police force. I assure him that justice will be done in this case.”

Although I'm not in support of the police for collecting 10k from you.... But I smell lies in this your story...... The truth is that the first Patrol stopped you and you refused to stop, they wired the patrol ahead of them on your route to turn you back and they did as ordered..... The rest is a story

THE SPEECH OF ONDO STATE GOVERNOR, DR OLUSEGUN MIMIKO ON THE IRELE "MYSTERIOUS DiSEASE."

My dear good people of Ondo State,

We have witnessed in the last few days a major health challenge.

A yet to be named ailment whose causative agents, diagnosis and cure are also yet to be determined struck in locations in Irele Local Government Area of our State, killing 17 people and stoking panic and fear.

I am, like you, saddened by this losses and the attendant fear of what looks like an epidemic.

I can only bring words of consolation to the families of the deceased and words of comfort and assurances to the good people of our dear State.

Our prayer at this hour is that God grants rest to the dead and fortitude to the living.

Fellow citizens,  we have as a government taken all necessary and available actions to respond to this health crisis.

Amidst conflicting and confusing information, the investigating team of experts sent by government to the area gathered that all the casualties died within hours of affliction. In all, 17 deaths have been confirmed in Ayadi Community and Ode Irele township and all the deaths were preceded by symptoms of sudden blurred vision, headache and loss of consciousness.

It must be said that the team was despatched to the communities affected and the General Hospital as well as other health facilities, to gather needed information about the nature, scope and circumstances of the outbreak.  Key informants interview, hospital record search and patient interview were used to obtain information.

I must state that the symptoms in this situation are not peculiar to any known epidemic and so have remained largely confounding.

Specifically, it must be stressed, the symptoms observed in the two communities of Ayadi and Ode Irele bear no resemblance to those associated with the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

...More..

....2...
Our investigations thus far have been in conjunction with our development partner, the World Health Organisation, WHO, and report sent to Nigeria  Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

As we speak, there are no new cases reported in the last 48 hours and none presently in the hospital. We have deployed trained volunteers for active surveillance and case management should the need arise.  Also, advocacy and sensitisation efforts are ongoing in print and on electronic media.

I urge you all to report any suspected case to the nearest health facility or call the telephone numbers being announced on our radio and television stations.

I am hopeful that with the combined efforts of all, final and definite solution will just be a matter of days.
In the meantime, Cerebro Spinal fluid, Blood and Urine specimens have been taken for examination.

These specimens have been cultured and examined and the preliminary results show that no known viral infection has been detected. We have further ordered toxicology test.

We have commenced active surveillance through the Local Government Area Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer.

We await final laboratory results to be able to fully apprehend and finally surmount this challenge. We use this opportunity to appeal to citizens and residents to report any suspicious case with blurring of vision, incoherence or related symptoms to the nearest health facilities.

Dear compatriots, these times require vigilance, love and unity of purpose.  These times require care and circumspection. Above all, these times demand strict adherence to hygienic ways of life. Such little things as regular washing of hands, covering of mouths while sneezing can go a long way to ensure healthy living.

I have directed that the information management team set up for the purpose of gathering facts and responding to questions be available all day and brief the public twice everyday until the disease is contained.

Thank you and God bless you
