Book Review Title: "Facts versus Fiction" Author: Reno Omokri Reviewer: Gurgur Japheth Date: 7/8/17 "Facts Versus Fiction: the Story of the Jonathan Years, 2015, Chibok and the Conspiracies" is a wonderful title not primarily because politics in Africa is full of facts and fiction but that the book itself is filled with more fiction as there could be facts. On page 44 of this wonderful book, Pastor Reno Omokri posits; "In Benue State, Jonathan substantially advanced the Loko-Oweto bridge and completed the Makurdi Water Supply Scheme supplying to 1 million people. He also rehabilitated the Lafia-Makurdi Road and the Aliade to Uturkpo Road and constructed a Perishable Cargo Terminal at the Makurdi Airport." In my brief review, let me observe that as an eye witness, the portion of this beautiful book as it pertains Benue is Fiction. There is no "Makurdi Water Supply Scheme" anywhere completed by Jonathan "supplying to 1 million people". The Greater Makurdi Water Works initiated by former Governor George Akume and treatment plant was completed by former Governor Suswam is left without Reticulation and therefore supplies no water to anywhere as Makurdi people get water from River Benue through "Mai-Ruwa". Second, "The Lafia-Makurdi Road and Aliade to Uturkpo Road" (sic) may only have been 'rehabilitated' on paper. The two roads remain Death traps. Third, as we speak, there is no "Perishable Cargo Terminal at Makurdi Airport", the only Cargo Airport in our subconscious minds is the one at Daudu in Guma along Lafia Road which groundbreaking ceremony was done in 2016 by the former Supervising Minister of Aviation under Jonathan now Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom PhD. In conclusion, the book by Pastor Reno Omokri, former Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan is Fiction; no Facts (safe Oweto) as far as Benue is concerned. It is distant rumour. It is 99.9% fiction. A fallacy of absurdum. Gurgur Japheth is from the Commonwealth of Gboko, Benue - Nigeria ©Gurgur Japheth MP 2017

All I see today is young Nigerians arguing without facts, disconnected from the nation’s history, having NO knowledge of the past, with defeated hope of the future. No ability to construct proper synonyms, but making analysis based on absence of adequate knowledge. The Egyptians new what they wanted and held the nation to ransom, also in Hong Kong, cos they had adequate information on the issues at hand. But at the moment, we don't have an intelligent society. We don't read yet we proffer solutions. How can you proffer solutions to something you know nothing about? Wake up Nigerians from your slumber. We only make analysis based on what another says, we lack information, brain power, we possess knowledge gap, yet we make analysis. How sad. Someone who knows nothing about nothing demands change. What is change if I may ask? We really don't have an idea. Change doesn't always mean a positive upward movement, it can also mean a downward trend, backward motion. And before you ask for it, you analyse situations on ground, in the past, with facts and figures and not just sentiments, and then you try to (based on this terms) predict the future. Now if the future shows a decline from the progress of the past and detach from the present, then you have all full rights to demand change. But when you have no information about nothing but drawn from social media, TV screens, newspapers and we keep shouting change, then we might be riding on the winds which is without substance and is therefore a journey to nowhere. Lots of people who are guilty of cheating in schools want change, people who jump queues want change, people who cannot keep to a route on the road but shunt want change, people who are guilty of forging results want change, people who cheat on their girl/boyfriends want change, adulterers want change, people guilty of murders and extortion, corruption and oppression, want change and the list goes on. Nobody want to change personally to effect the change but we build hypocritical structures that cannot stand the test of time. Its time Nigerians wake up and put in proper perspective where we need to be. Its time for Nigerians to stop looking at TV screens and start using mirrors (TV screens shows others, mirrors show you). It’s time for Nigerians to start developing leaders who have a history of making upward strides at the grass roots, touching lives at the base levels. It’s time for Nigerians to understand that a downward trend people cannot choose an upward leader, they will chose for themselves a downward trend leaders. It’s time for Nigerians to build a lifestyle of integrity. Before you ask for change, change yourself first. Make changes in that little space around you (I mean upward trend changes). We also have to realize that the Presidential seat is not solely responsible for the happenings in the country that is why he deepens his rule through the governors, Local Government chairmen and Councillors. We also have representatives of the people like the Legislature (in our case the House of Representatives and the Senate). It’s time to get really knowledgeable about these things and how they operate and affect our everyday lives. There is so much to know. Don't stop at knowing until you are sure you really know. What we need in Nigeria is not a partisan change but a structural change; we need a vision, a dream, a plan, a road map and we drive in the direction of that plan. It’s not a war to kill people, but a war to kill our wrong mentalities. We have been slaves to our past and therefore have related with our future with the same mind-set. It’s time we begin to think properly and build a Nigeria that will stand the test of time through generations. Our children will not forgive us if we don't succeed in doing this. This is the time for a revolution, but not partisan (because the person who you are supporting in the APC may soon decamp to PDP and vice versa, so what becomes of you?). Please if you believe in this, then pass it to others so that they can see and understand the Nigerian dream. Let's live the Nigerian dream as Americans live the American dream. Am a proud Nigerian and I avail myself for change to begin with me. LONG LIVE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. I BELIEVE IN NIGERIA. |

BREAKING: FG releases N72bn for Lagos-Ibadan rail line construction Ex-governor of Rivers state and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that the Federal Government has released its counterpart fund for the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan mordernisation railway project. According to The Punch, Amaechi made the disclosure on Monday, January 23, he put the figure at N72bn. The minister said this at the Second Presidential Business Forum which was presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said the counterpart funding was released in full so that there will be no delay in the project implementation. He also used the opportunity to appeal to the National Assembly to approve the $30bn foreign loan request. He said: “The construction of Lagos-Ibadan Railway, the Minister of Finance has been kind enough to release the counterpart funding in full. “I think in the history of Nigeria this is first time that we are releasing counterpart funds in full so that there will be no delay since the Chinese loan appears to have been approved. “The only thing we need to do, I thank God there is somebody from the National Assembly, is to plead with the National Assembly that the funds has been approved, then the National Assembly should please approve the $30bn loan. “If you don’t encourage the National Assembly to make that approval, then, the economy won’t be making the kind of progress we want the economy to make. “So, for me here, I will enjoin to persuade the National Assembly to kindly make that approval because they are tied to projects.” NAIJ.com |
MMM IS BACK CKECK YOUR P.O t news! We are now open!!! :-)) Dear members, The holidays are over, and we''re now open. Just as promised. (You might have already noticed that we always stick to our promises. :-)) Actually, we promised to be open on January 14, but we''re open now, January 13, as you can see, which is a day earlier. (Well, I hope, the members of the System will forgive us for that. :-)) It''s related to the hysteria raised by the authorities and the mass media around MMM. By joining forces, they''ve managed to nearly give the members of the System a heart attack and have frightened them out of their wits. Poor souls don''t know what to expect. Will we open again or not? :-)) This is why we''ve decided, considering the situation, to reach out to the members, reassure and cheer them up by opening a little earlier. After all, Together We Can Change The World! :-)) Here we go. 1. As of this notice, MMM resumes its usual operation. You can now create your GH-requests. 2. However, it''s obvious that panic will reign in the first few days after the re-opening of the System. We’re likely to be deluged by GH-requests. Therefore, we''re going to make gradual paybacks by setting internal output limits. In other words, we will only pay a certain amount per day. Please, be prepared to wait for a couple of days. We are certain things will then calm down, and the System operation will return to normal. We''re the ones setting the limits, so it''s completely under our control, and we are not expecting any emergencies in principle. Have no fear and go on about your business as usual. :-)) As the System is socially oriented, we will make paybacks to the poor and the economically disadvantaged in the first place: it means to the members with small PH amounts. The richer can wait. Moreover, we''ve warned you repeatedly to only provide help with amounts that are not critical for you. Therefore, if these large amounts are not critical for them (the richer), they can wait a few days. No need to be tragic about it. :-)) This is the way it''s going to be. Hoping for your kind understanding, Sergey Mavrodi. We Change The World! P. S. I''d like again to call on the authorities and the mass media: Please, leave us alone! Have mercy on people |

ORTOM CONGRATULATES NEW TOR TIV By Basil Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has congratulated Professor James Ortese Ayatse over his emergence as the 5th paramount ruler of the Tiv nation. Governor Ortom who received the new Tor Tiv this evening at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, described him as a man with the fear of God, honesty and integrity. He said the transparent manner in which Professor Ayatse emerged as Tor Tiv shows the commitment of the Tiv nation to upholding fairness, truth and justice. Governor Ortom said God had answered the prayers of the Tiv nation to have a paramount ruler who would be non-partisan and lead the people as one. He said the outcome of the election has proven that he did not interfere with the process as he had earlier promised, saying that he was comfortable with the choice made by the kingmakers. The Governor restated the resolve of his administration to accord the traditional institution its revered status while working with the new Tor Tiv and other traditional rulers to bring development to the people. Responding, the Tor Tiv-elect, Professor Ayatse thanked God for making him ruler of the Tiv nation and pledged that God will be the King over the people while he as Tor Tiv would only be a servant of God. He commended Governor Ortom for providing a level playing field for the selection of Tor Tiv the 5th, adding that he is aware of the problems confronting his people and would depend on the counsel of God in addressing the challenges. The new Tor Tiv, Professor Ayatse was accompanied by his wife, Felicia. Source: Benue state people's House Makurdi

The removal of subsidy was talk of the nation early this year. But since then we have been experiencing steady PMS supply. As it usually occur during festive periods when scarcity is on a higher rate prompting high prices of transport fare across the nation. I have observed that this year is rancour free with exorbitant transport fares and long queues around filling stations. With this I can categorically state that fuel subsidy removal was a right step/decision at the right direction where billions are now saved as reported by the Vice president Professor Yemi Osinbanjo. What is your take on this? Or is there any other state that is experiencing fuel scarcity? #myopinion# |
