Exousiang01: Are you sure you even know the bone of contention here. Was he talking about the system? Was he speaking out for soldiers. Nigerian soldiers are in the bush and he is mocking him for being in the bush. Is it wise to mock those sacrificing their lives in the bush to fight terrorists? Think Obviously the naija soldier was responding to the US soldier's initially call out of the working conditions of naija soldier. And I guess naija soldier saw it as an attack on the nigerian army hence his response. That's one thing with Nigerians, they see criticism as an attack, just like you now feeling attacked because probably your sympathetic to this dehumanizing system we run in Nigeria |

Politics › Re: Demola Olarewaju Analyses What Will Happen In The ADC by sekeyso(m): 9:26am On Jan 02 |
seunmsg: Demola is an Atiku lackey. Basically, he’s saying the ADC ticket will be Atiku/Obi which may be correct if Peter Obi doesn’t backstab Atiku at the die minute. However, his assumption of a combined 12m votes for the ticket is wrong. A lot has changed since 2023 and he’s not factoring that into his analysis.
Tinubu wasn’t an incumbent president in 2023 even though he was the candidate of the ruling party. In fact, the presidency as at that time did everything possible to sabotage his election. Today, he’s the President and there is no presidential cabal that will introduce a currency crisis fee weeks to the election to sabotage him. Again the so called “CPC bloc” who have now moved to ADC are the politically weak cabals of the Buhari presidency. They never supported Tinubu in 2023 so counting them as a minus to Tinubu is a big joke.
Secondly, Atiku rode on the PDP structure to win states like Osun, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa in 2023. In 2027, he won’t get 10% in those states. So, when accounting for the 12m votes, they better start removing those votes that came in through PDP structure in the south.
Thirdly, Peter Obi got a lot of protest votes from Christians all over the country. Sadly for the coalition, Tinubu has shown clearly that he’s not just liberal, he’s in fact a pro-Christian president. Not surprisingly, the entire southern Kaduna and plateau state have fully rallied behind the president. These are folks that voted for Obi in 2023.
Finally, the president has strongly consolidated his position. He’s in a far better position politically now than in 2023. With APC now fully in control of SW except Oyo, SS, NC and NE, I don’t see any magic that can remove the president. Even in the SE, APC now has a solid structure in three out of the five state. With Peter Obi running as a spare tyre to a Fulani Atiku, even the south east people will not come out to fully support the ADC ticket the way they supported a Peter Obi running for president on the LP ticket.
Head or tail, Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election. Unfortunately this is the bitter truth that's if elections are conducted today, but in politics every second matters. The current outlook can still change if the opposition puts their house in order and rally the majority of the citizenry that are frustrated with tinubu administration. ADC has a very strong case (disgruntled citizens) to win against this evil government. |

Politics › Re: Price War Deepens As Marketers Slash Petrol By N100 by sekeyso(m): 5:01pm On Dec 22, 2025 |
nairalanda1: The problem is that in other countries they pay for subsidy by taxation
In Nigeria, we pay for subsides from oil revenue which in principle, before stealing, is not enough because your government does not run a productive economy
Also most sane countries pay subsides to the producer ie the refinery, not the consumer subsidy we were paying.
Third, subsized fuel was being smuggled to as many as 6 or more African countries. That increased our subsidy bill. Also as more people own cars and rely on generatiors , that increases subsidy bills as well
Finally , subsides overseas are for the poorest of the poor. For people whose income is very very low. Not for everyone as in Nigeria
Subsides also prevent refineries from making a profit on fuel refining. That leads to the refineries breaking down. As seen in Nigeria and even in Venezuela. Ghana and Niger republic have working refineries which have been working for over 20 years and no subsidy.
E harsh, but na truth.
We have subsidized power , education and health anyway. Even rail transport is subsidized All these you've stated have corruption and inefficiency of government institutions as it's catalyst. Why would the masses suffer for government inefficiencies? Okay now that this government has removed practically all the subsidies and is even taxing the masses to stupor, what has changed? Do we now have better roads, security nko, what of the economy, has the politicians stopped stealing govt revenues? Nothing has changed my brother. You don't take more yams and give to a goat to look after when the goat has practically eaten all the ones in its care. |
Politics › Re: Price War Deepens As Marketers Slash Petrol By N100 by sekeyso(m): 2:41pm On Dec 22, 2025 |
nairalanda1: If we had chased out subsidy in 1993, or even in 2012, and let the market set prices, not government, it won't have just been dangote announcing construction of refinery in 2013, there would have been three or four others doing same.
There is a cold reason why for decades they have been telling Nigerians to remove subsidy....it was to provide a level playing field for people who wanted to build refineries...and attract investment to do so. Subsidy meant that the only person able to attract investment was Dangote, and that was because the investors figured out that if subsidy induced losses impacted the refinery in the future, AMCON will just take over Dangote's other businesses and use the cash to pay them off.
Not everything na oppression. Nigerians should have kept quiet in 2012. Instead, everyone shouted that GEJ Na oppressor (me I was not his supporter and never have been, but there is a time to put aside opposition, and look at why some decisions need to be taken). See what we have done to ourselves.
Anyway, BUA dey, there are also 4 extant working private refineries. Oga there's no serious country where energy is not subsidized directly or indirectly. Subsidy is never Nigeria's problem but corruption is. There is no logic that will make good the removal of subsidy in Nigeria. Government subsidy does not stop or affect any serious investor from building refineries |

miracle002: This is the beauty of competition. If the momentum of this competition is sustained, price of petroleum may come down to 400 per liter by March 2026.
Dangote wanted to gain absolute monopoly over petroleum industry. It won't work, as you slash your price, others will follow suit. Fuel importation will continue and you cannot stop it Be dreaming that price will come down to 400. We all know that dangote reduced price because he wants to put up a show for his competitors not because of market dynamics. By tomorrow now he'll return it the normal market price, he can't sustain that price cos he's selling at a loss |
