One problem with buying fairly used items online in Nigeria is that photos do not always show the real condition of the item. A fridge, TV, washing machine, generator, furniture, or other household item can look fine in pictures, but you may only discover faults after contacting the seller. That is one reason I built SellSpace9ja. On SellSpace9ja, sellers can list household items from their moving sale and include a short condition video showing the actual item, how it looks, and any faults or issues buyers should know about. Buyers can also browse items by location, so someone in Abuja does not have to waste time looking through listings that are only available in Lagos. The idea is still simple: connect people who are moving or clearing household items with nearby buyers looking for fairly used items. And buyers should still follow basic safety rules: inspect and test the item before paying whenever possible, and never pay a fee just to inspect an item. You can see it here: https://www.sellspace9ja.com I’m interested in feedback from Nairaland users: Would a condition video make you more comfortable buying a fairly used item from someone online? What else would you want to see before contacting the seller?

Hello Nairaland, I’ve been building a Nigerian marketplace called SellSpace9ja for people who are moving, relocating, downsizing or decluttering and want to sell useful household items they no longer need. The idea came from how stressful it can be to sell several household items separately when preparing to move. Sellers can list things like furniture, appliances, generators, air conditioners, electronics and other useful household items. Buyers can browse available items in their location and make offers through the platform. I’m also trying to make trust a major part of the marketplace. Before an item can be published, the seller must add photos and a short condition video so buyers can see the real item and its condition before deciding whether to make an offer. The website is: https://www.sellspace9ja.com/ People have already started signing up and listing real household items, but the platform is still early and I’m improving it based on actual user feedback. I’m the person building SellSpace9ja, and I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from Nairaland members. What would make you comfortable buying a used household item from a new Nigerian marketplace?

Nice project. The site looks clean and I like that it works well on mobile. One thing that could make it even better is showing more example images on the homepage so a new user can quickly see the quality before trying a prompt. Also, it would be useful to have different image styles or presets users can choose from. Good work. |
