Subtract tax and cost of living. Then the cost of earning that money

That is after tax. Good enough the taxes were refunded after filing because we did not earn up to a certain threshold.

pls can you share your success story?

Yea, Briefly..
Graduated as a geologist in 2008, served '09. Got a job as a site supervisor 2010 and started with 35K but was 50k when I left the company in 2018. Got a high prospect job with one of the oil servicing companies 2018 and I was elated. pay was good, in excess of 300k. Then Nigeria happened. After a few months we were replaced by guys from the north (the chairman of the company is from Kano, and he literally replaced us with his kinsmen). I felt betrayed, and I made up my mind to leave, at least to where hard work is rewarded. Migrated with my family 2022 to Canada, and God has been faithful. I am not there yet, but I have hope now, I have a clear path and direction, I can plan. There are obvious challenges, but I hang on to the positives. Currently running a post grad diploma. Miss home, food, social circles, but I need the money, comfort and security too. I cant complain. Grateful to God for his mercies in all.

Please and please, if you want to japa, have the proper documentation and follow the routes approved by the government, the system will take care of you.

My 2 cents

If I go by your calculations, it means your 2 year salary in Nigeria, is your monthly bill in your new found country.

That’s the point I wanted to buttress.

Thank you.. I was earning 50k as a graduate before leaving in 2022, I did 2 jobs and made at least 2,800 monthly. Currently running a program to upgrade.

And how is your monthly rent? Your 2 years in Nigeria 🤣🤣🤣

I always laugh at y’all who convert foreign salary to Naira. Do you spend Naira there?

Convert your monthly rent and bills to Naira too, and tell people.

Two weeks pay takes care of my bills, the other two is savings.

I think the bold is overly simplistic.
PS: I speak about life generally and not about any particular location.

There are lazy people who have succeeded - such is life. One bum has a contact who succeeds say at politics, and boom! Or one talented but lazy artiste pens just one song, and boom! Or forget all these. Lets be more direct. Lazy man wins the lottery - boom! Or lazy woman meets billionaire who likes her bum bum - and boom!

There are hardworking people who will die not just in poverty, but in the worst kind of desperate, wretched poverty.

Life is a mystery. Believe you me, I am not saying hard work isn't good - it's great (best when its smart work) - I am just saying life is a many-splendored thing.

Someone once said he had seen slaves go on horseback while princes go on foot.

You may be right but within the context of our discussion here, I meant to say that some people select/discriminate Jobs. Some come with a set mindset and find it difficult to adapt. Determination is sacrosanct to success

Nope, I earned my yearly salary in 2weeks. If you're not lazy, you will make it. Nothing like menial jobs, there is dignity of labour here. Its challenging but you can do it...

I will say it again, for Nigeria to move forward, banks, state governors and senior civil servants must be held accountable. Unfortunately, the center is also complicit in this!

Every country does what is best for it's citizens and survival, except Nigeria of course. That is why international diplomacy is critical. Mr president that rushed to give ultimatums how far? Thesame US that was pushing him have sent diplomats to Niger! The world is a jungle, if you no get power, get sense!
