An Osun High Court sitting in Osogbo on Wednesday adjourned till August 6 proceedings in the certificate suit involving the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the September 22 governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The Presiding Judge, Justice David Oladimeji, gave the order to enable the parties to have access to the relevant documents for use during the hearing.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto has resigned and is set to quit the All Progressives Congress (APC).


Ibeto who was a former deputy governor of Niger state was reported to have arrived Nigeria from Pretoria on Sunday and on Monday morning submitted his letter of resignation at the ministry of External Affairs.

A former minister of works, Tony Anenih, has said he will not be celebrating his 85th birthday with pomp as a result of the poor state of affairs of the nation.

The Anambra Central Senatorial Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Awka, on Friday struck out a petition challenging the victory of Victor Umeh in the Jan. 13, Anambra senatorial rerun election.

The three-man tribunal, presided by Justice H. A. Olusiyi, Justice A. O. Ayoola, and Justice A. U. Birnin Kudu dismissed the five reliefs sought by the petitioner as lacking merit and the inability of the applicant to proof his case.

A member of the House of Representatives, Tony Nwulu, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the United Progressives Party (UPP).

Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, has vowed not to reconcile with some politicians he described as “traitors”.

Ekiti State Governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has advised Governor Ayo Fayose to utilise the N5.5 billion June allegation from the Federation Account to pay workers’ salaries and pensioners’ entitlements.
