I see both online and offline how people freak out at the sight of a celebrity. Some even go as far as rushing or grabbing them.

I have never been to any show, let alone wanting to go up stage to grab a celebrity. I saw how a young man was kicked by Burna Boy and I felt really disgusted because such nonsense can never happen to me.

Early last year, I was on the 6th floor at BUA Group headquarters in Victoria Island where I saw Tekno and Davido sitting down at the reception having a chat, I just greeted them and sat down. I also saw how every other person on that floor was minding their business and don't really give a damn about their presence.

When I told a cousin how I feel weird on how people go crazy at the sight of these celebrities, he said it's not normal but I strongly disagree with him. I even told him how some staff at BUA Group didn't give a damn about Davido"s presence, he insisted that they are not also normal.

Do you guys here share my views, or do you think it's not normal?

Lagos budget is more than 3x the budget of Rivers, Lagos is experiencing massive infrastructural revolution across all sectors . Government policies in Lagos is consistent, there is no policy summersault. Investors are more comfortable coming to Lagos than any other state in the country because of state policy predictability. I agree with Reno Omokri. Obi could have just expressed his condolences, visited the state government and some of the families. He could have donated to the families as a good gesture and even encouraged his followers to do the same. But using it for political advantage is tragic.

Peter Obi was not a model governor when he led Anambra State. He had no innovative ideas beyond saving money in a bank where he was chairman before he became governor. Recall the parable of the talents where some servants traded with what they were given and returned profits to their master, while one stubbornly buried the money and returned excuses. Of course, the master had lampooned him that he could have put it in the bank to yield interests. Did the money put in Fidelity Bank return profits to Anambra or to Fidelity Bank? Who made more money from the saved money? Peter Obi prides himself as a trader. How did he improve trade in Anambra State? What exactly does Anambra trade? An innovative governor could have turned Nnewi to a manufacturing and fabrication hub for Nigeria.

Peter Obi will not use Nigeria to experiment his backwardness and lack of innovation.

My condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives during the Okija rice stampede. May our state governments learn lessons from these frequent events and implement better fraud control mechanisms.

Stampedes can occur anywhere and at any time. They recently happened in South Korea, Israel, the U.S. and multiple European countries. When they occur, let us learn the needed lessons instead of politicising them based on what part of the country the incident rested its ugly head.
