Gaming › Lagos Life Governor Laws: What All 5 Do, This Week's Law And Gem Hunt Clues by seventuning(op): 6:13am On Oct 19
Whoever wins the governor election in Lagos Life gets to set a law, and it changes the game for everybody, not just the people who voted. Most players only notice when their pay or their danfo fare suddenly looks different. So we started logging it: every day just after midnight (Lagos time), we record the law in force, the governor, the daily headline and the gem hunt clue, straight from what the official site shows. The running log is here:

https://lagoslifegames.com/updates/

This week (as of 19 Oct, 05:42 WAT):
- Law: Minimum wage raise - "Everyone earns 15% more per shift"
- Set: 15 Oct, 13:54 WAT, by governor @Wealthynil
- Term ends: 23 Oct, 05:41 WAT

The 5 laws a governor can set, with the game's own effect text (from the game code, checked 10 Oct):
1. Transport subsidy - danfo and keke fares are half price
2. Minimum wage raise - everyone earns 15% more per shift
3. Owambe season - fun at places around Lagos is 30% stronger
4. Food subsidy - groceries and food are 30% cheaper
5. Steady light - NEPA cuts are shorter and rarer

Things we've noticed from the log:
- The official data shows one law at a time, and it can change in the middle of a term. On 9 Oct the law went from Food subsidy to Minimum wage raise while the same governor (@Franka) was still in office.
- Since 8 Oct the log has 6 entries. Minimum wage raise and Food subsidy have each come up more than once.
- The game also posts a headline, the weather and a tip for each game day. Some are pure Lagos ("Third Mainland Bridge traffic reaches Ikorodu. Commuters pack lunch."wink, and the tips repeat useful rules, like rent being due every Saturday.

Daily gem hunt: the game gives one clue a day, with a new one at midnight Lagos time. We write down the clue exactly as the game gives it, for example 19 Oct: "Lectures by day, TDB by night, and a lagoon breeze for the Great Akokites." We don't post answers or guess where the gem is, so if you've cracked one, the replies are yours.

Honest note: the percentages are game code values and the developer can change them any time (terms §7). Wages and prices here are Game Naira, which the official terms say can't be withdrawn or exchanged for real money (§5).

Gaming › Lagos Life Investment List: Every Business And Plot, Prices From The Game Code by seventuning(op): 5:38am On Oct 19
Once your job is steady, the game's phone has an Invest tab, and that's where most people start asking "what does each business actually pay?" The answers going round on TikTok are all over the place, so we pulled the numbers from the game's own code. Full list with every card, rule and weekly event:

https://lagoslifegames.com/money/

The 8 businesses (price -> takings per evening, before running costs):
- Recharge & Data Kiosk, Ojuelegba: N150,000 -> N2,500 to N5,000
- Zobo & Chapman Stand, Yaba: N300,000 -> N5,000 to N9,000
- POS Stand, Yaba: N500,000 -> N5,000 to N11,500
- Buka (Mama Put), Surulere: N2.5m -> N30,000 to N61,000
- Barbing Salon, Ikeja: N6m -> N66,000 to N133,000
- Car Wash, Lekki: N15m -> N167,000 to N309,000
- Event Centre, Ikoyi: N60m -> N585,000 to N1,171,000
- Quilox Share (5%), VI: N250m -> N1.795m to N3.585m

How an evening works in the code:
1. Payout is every evening at 6 PM. Running costs come off the takings (the page lists each one).
2. Every business has a "bad evening" chance (8% or 10%). On a bad evening you lose a fixed amount instead of earning.
3. If you're away, the game pays the evenings you missed, but only up to the last seven.
4. Selling a business gives back 60% of what you paid.

Land is different. 6 plots, from a quarter plot in Imota (N250,000) to a waterfront plot on Banana Island (N150m). Each card shows a weekly growth figure. When you buy, there's a chance omo-onile show up and ask for 10% of the plot's price; the chance runs from 40% in Imota down to none on Banana Island. Selling land costs a 5% fee, and the game caps you at 20 bare plots.

Two more things people miss:
- Weekly economy events (Flooding, Fuel Scarcity, Owambe Season, CBN Rate Hike and others) push some businesses' takings up or down for 3-4 days and can move land values. The page lists exactly which business each event hits.
- Tax is weekly. The first N1,000,000 of wages and the first N1,000,000 of other income each week are tax-free, then 7.5% on the rest (game settings as of 14 Oct).

We deliberately don't say which one to buy or how fast anything pays back. The numbers are there; the choice is yours.

Honest note: all of this is Game Naira. The official terms say it can't be withdrawn or exchanged for real money (§5), and the developer can change prices and payouts any time (§7). If the game shows a different number, the game is right.

Gaming › All 33 Lagos Life Jobs And What Each Level Pays Per Shift by seventuning(op): 5:21am On Oct 12
Since Lagos Life blew up last week, one question keeps coming up: how do you actually grow your balance in this game? So we did what fan sites hadn't done properly: we read the game's own code and pulled out every career, every level title, and the exact pay per shift. Full table (re-checked against the code once a day):

https://lagoslifegames.com/jobs/

What the code says, in short:

33 careers — 23 in Lagos, 5 in Abuja, 5 in Port Harcourt. Each has 5 levels with their own titles, and each level pays a fixed Game Naira amount per shift.

Examples from the table (listed pay = the top grade rate):
- Oil & Gas: Field Technician N20,000 -> Country MD N96,000
- Music: tops out at level 5, "Afrobeats Giant", N99,000 per shift — the highest listed pay in the game
- Banking: level 1 Marketer lists N11,600, but you start every new job at grade I, which pays about N10,100

Things most fan sites get wrong:

1. It's per shift, not per week. The code pays once per shift worked. Sites quoting "weekly salary" are relabeling the same number.
2. Grades matter. The listed pay is grade IV. Grade I pays listed / 1.15, and you climb one grade at a time with a 100%-performance shift.
3. Short shifts: finish less than 10% of a shift and it pays nothing; otherwise you're paid your share, never below 25% of the full amount.
4. Bonuses: 4 tasks in one shift makes you Employee of the Shift, +15% for that shift. When a governor's Minimum Wage law is active, pay goes up 15%.
5. 25 of the 33 careers need no skill to join. The highest starting pay among them is Refining, Operator Trainee, N14,000 per shift in Lagos — but work days and the city matter too, so we won't call any job "the best".

One honest note: all of this is Game Naira. The official terms are clear that it's a fictional unit — it cannot be withdrawn or swapped for real money (§5), and the developer can change salaries at any time (§7). Figures above are code values, not take-home pay (tax comes off; we don't publish the rate).

If you're playing: what job are you doing, and does the pay on your screen match the table?
