A 51-year-old man, Jibrin Ibrahim, alongside 14 suspects were arrested and on Wednesday paraded by the Joint Investigative Panel comprising of agents of the Defence Headquarters, the police and the Department of State Services, over the killing of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

Two locally-made guns, two AK-47 rifles and some weapons were discovered from the suspects who admitted to the crime of collecting N2m ransom before letting go of Badeh’s friend Joseph Okpetu, who was with Badeh during the attack. It was also found that the sim card used in bargaining Okpetu's release, belonged to 51-year-old Jibrin.

Usman, also known as Chiroma, alleged to be the gang leader spoke to newsmen during the parade, he disclosed that he and 6 others murdered Badeh, whom they thought was a rich man and not a retired military officer. Recall that it was reported that Alex Badeh was killed by gunmen on December 18, 2018, while returning from his farm along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway in Nasarawa State.

Confessing to the murder, Usman said;

“It was a Friday and I came to the Gitata Market; I was the one who brought the job to the gang. I am a taxi driver. So, while I was driving to Panda village, in Nasarawa State, one Alhaji Maube Gani told me that there was one wealthy man, who owned a farm in that area and that we could make money from him. I told him I had never attacked any person in my life, but he said I should not worry.

“Then later on December 18, I drove my car out and Alhaji called me that the man had come to his farm as usual and that we should come to attack him. So, I called the other members and we met Alhaji in the Gitata area.

“At that stage of the operation, I did not know Badeh’s identity; none of us knew that the man was a military officer. There were seven of us, who participated in the operation. We just got to the road, shot the man and took away his friend.”

Chairman of the Joint Investigation Committee, Maj. Gen. Bamidele Shafa, also speaking to newsmen, disclosed that efforts to apprehend other members of the gang has intensified, stating that 20 suspects had been identified out of whom 15 had been arrested.

“After thorough investigation, the panel made the following findings; one, the attack and killing of ACM Alex Badeh was criminal and did not have any political undertone. Two, 20 persons were involved in the crime, out of which 15 have been arrested.

“The suspects in custody confessed to their direct involvement in the crime. They employed automatic weapons and locally-made guns in the killing of the air chief marshal. This was buttressed by the result of the autopsy and weapons recovered from the residences of the suspects.The suspects will be handed over to the appropriate agency for investigation and prosecution."Shafa said.

A coalition of Northern groups in Nigeria have delivered a 30-day ultimatum to different state governors of the federation who are against the RUGA settlement scheme, to reexamine their decisions right away.

Many state governors, especially in the South, have resisted strongly the establishing of RUGA settlements in their states.

In a press conference on Wednesday July 3rd, the spokesperson of the group, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, summoned on the Federal government to put an end to the ''raging madness'' of some governors resisting the RUGA policy.

“While we warn all state governments that stand against the implementation of the RUGA Initiative to desist and give peace a chance, we place President Buhari and the Federal Government on notice that they must act to halt and completely stop this raging madness within 30-days beginning from today, Wednesday July 3rd. For the avoidance of doubt, we advice the Federal authorities and the Southern leaders to heed the 30 days notice, failing to, we will most definitely be left with no option than to consider resorting to our decisive next line of action'' he said.

He however refused to say what that next line of action would be if the states refused to comply with the ultimatum.

The Federal Government, yesterday, announced the suspension of the RUGA settlement programme. At a meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the National Executive Committee (NEC) announced the suspension of the programme. The group said the decision was due to the fact that the plan follows a lack of consistency with the NEC and FG approved National Livestock Transformation Plan.

Yesterday the son of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, who rules the city of Sharijah in the United Arab Emirates died. The 39-year-old businessman died during a 'party at his London penthouse where drugs and sex were taking place.

The Sun reported that a quantity of Class A drugs had been discovered at the penthouse flat in Knightsbridge where his body was found though the police have not confirmed or denied this.
Police officials were said to have found the Class A drugs the medics called them in.

A source confirms the same reports:

'There had apparently been a party where some guests were taking drugs and having sex.
It is suspected that Sheikh Khalid may have died suddenly as a result of taking drugs.
As well as the police inquiry, an urgent internal probe has been ordered and staff have been ordered to keep quiet."

Kano state governor, Umar Ganduje has instructed the demolition of the building where Alhaji Musa Umar, the District Head who is President Buhari's in-law, was liberated on Tuesday morning from his kidnappers in Kano State.

The Magajin Garin Daura was abducted by gunmen on May 1, 2019, in his Daura residence while waiting to perform his 8:00 p.m. prayers. It was learnt that the rescue was carried out on Tuesday morning by the I.G (Inspector General) of Police, Operation Puff Adder Intelligent Response Team in collaboration with Kano state police command.

Abdullahi Haruna, Kano state police command spokesman, issued a statement revealing that the District head was rescued unharmed. He added that some suspects were also arrested from where he was rescued at Gangan Ruwa Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

Echiejile broke the recent news on his Instagram handle on Tuesday and posted a picture of his new bundle of happiness.

Amnesty International made a tweet recently calling on the Nigerian Police to investigate Senator Elisha Abbo representing Adamawa North for attacking a female staff of an adult shop he patronizes in Abuja. The woman he abused has been confirmed to be a nursing mother.

The Human Rights group wrote in their tweet "the video of the senator assaulting women is widely available for police to act on.''

The video shows how Senator Elisha Abbo came in with two ladies and when one of them vomited in the shop, he got into a brawl with the shop owner and after one of the female staff tried intervening he slapped her consecutively.

The Chairman of Northern Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Yakubu Pam and President of International Church Growth Ministry have denounced the act of rape and were undivided in their decision for the accused Founder and senior pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, Biodun Fatoyinbo, to step down and admit for thorough investigation of the rape allegations.

The Chairman, and leading Church Growth authority, Dr. Francis Akin-John, reasoned that any man of God who cannot restrain his sexual urge should have nothing to do near a pulpit. Pam held forth that the position of a pastor as a rule was a very delicate position, adding that for anybody to have degraded himself to do such horrible thing was condemnable. He stated: “It’s not the kind of thing ears are supposed to hear of ordinary church members, let alone a pastor. I think it is high time for Christian Association of Nigeria to mandate the bloc leaders to start scrutinizing candidates to be accepted as pastors.

He also said that: “There should be a means of ascertaining those to be admitted as pastors in this country, because some of these pastors who come in through the back door are giving the church a bad name. ‘’It’s only in Nigeria that the church is well united through CAN and I believe if care is not taken about how we recruit our followers, especially our clergy men, and frown at certain things happening around the church, then we will begin to loose our ground gradually from the society.”

According to Dr Francis, what has occurred now is a distress call for all Christian leaders in the country to sort out their houses in order. He added that as the immediate supervisor of the embattled cleric, Northern CAN would without hesitation set up a committee to look into and ascertain where he is from and find out from his local government of origin to know about his background before taking any action. He also promised to reach out to the victim and her family members and placate them, mentioning that there was very little the church could do now beyond making peace with the aggrieved victim and her family members.

One of the housemates in the 2019 Big Brothernaija Show is the grandson of Nigeria’s nationalist, Obafemi Awolowo. Apart from being a successful entrepreneur, he is dedicated to his journey of self acceptance and his convictions and to demonstrate that he has a tattoo of “Jesus” on his arm.. He revealed a sad moment of his life when he once tried to commit suicide during his teenage years. Hopefully, he has evolved out of that phase with a joyful disposition and is happy to be part of the show this year.

He bluntly declared that he is single but not available because he has a girlfriend who he is committed to. He describes seeing his face on a billboard for the first time as one of the best moments in his life. He also said he will be looking for trouble lot in the show.

Two protesters were arrested yesterday at the #ChurchTooMovement by security personnel who were there to counter the effect of the COZA protest.

According to eye witnesses, two men were arrested and taken away in a black Mercedes Benz which belonged to unknown security personnel before 8:00 a.m. Other citizens who were there to protest against Pastor Fatoyinbo were also harassed even before start of the protest.

Reports revealed that more security men were deployed as more protesters came to the church’s headquarters in Guzape, Abuja. About 30 police officers and 20 civil Defence personnel were sited at the church’s premises.

There was also the presence of masked State Security Service men everywhere around the church whose aim was to intimidate the protesters. Some soldiers were also seen at the church at about 8:40 a.m. The security agents and the church’s security personnel together conducted a thorough search of visitors and members of the church who wanted to enter and be part of the service at 9:00 a.m. The members and visitors however complained about the measures and said they were not necessary.
