- Akpabio has a quiet beef with Arc. Attah because the later didn't anoint him as candidate. - Akpabio and Udom have had a cold war since 2018 when Godswill left the PDP. - Umo Eno embraced Akpabio in spite of Akpabio's beef with Udom. - Udom and Umo Eno defer to Vic. Attah as the eldest stateman. - Umo Eno defers to Akpabio and Udom too.
Tinubu was able to make Udom and Akpabio agree for the first time in years.
All three are powerful men in their three Senatorial Districts. Everyone (and all politicians) listen to Arc. Attah so he was definitely consulted about this move.
It's over, man. APC as an opposition is officially dead in the state. PDP as a contender at the national is dead too at the state level. Backs have been rubbed.
I did not see Udom Emmanuel agreeing to this. He's supposed to be a strong Atiku man.
Darn!
The very reason why you need to start giving kudos to that man, ma main man. This is among the reason I respect him, this uncanny ability of his to unite even the worst of enemies and make them agree to his terms....
I'm throwing this question to you because it's very important. Every time I ask, "how is Nairaland?" I'm told that it is fine. If I ask what are the challenges I'm told there are none.
So I need to talk to you guys directly about what you think is going on and what you want us to do. I have not had the confidence to make major changes on Nairaland. I have a little confidence now because of AI.
What are your complaints, your challenges, your issues. What are the things that can drive people away and need to be nipped?
BlueRayDick: Ponzi schemes generally work on a principle that has always worked with the Nigerian people : Ponzi schemes will have you believe that the traditional banking and financial system is designed to make you poor. They make you believe whatever interest rate your normal investment in the Nigerian banking and financial system will give, you can get multiple of it in their scheme but the government and it's agencies don't want that for you
Once they have people believing this, they will offer ridiculous ROI that defies logic. They will see that for example Treasury bills backed by government will give you 18.5% interest rate per annum, then they will offer you 30% interest rate within a month. Do you know how crazy that is? You leave you money with them for 30 days and get 30% ROI ; meanwhile the FG backed investment expects you to leave your funds with government for a whole year and get 18.5% interest in return.
The average greedy Nigerian thinks it is a risk that is worth taking but they will later learn the hard way.
The Hard Way (The Only Way) I remember that movie. Lol.
Beside, traditional banking system is actually designed to make the poor, poor. If I leave my 5OK for one year in the bank, how much interest will the bank pay? But with Ponzi schemes... Lol.
Like I said, these schemes bank on the ignorance and gullibility of Nigerians, and it works like magic.
GloriousGbola: There was this dude attached to me on a project. In 2014 to 2016. Site engineer. Guy bought into MMM. The way the guy believed in mmm ehn. He was so fervent. December 2015 (I think) when they did their rug pull the guy was telling me confidently and with conviction they will be back. When you see the faith of some of these marks you will almost start to think you are the one missing out.
As in ehn. It's same with a friend of mine also, he was so confident, especially as his chic was one of the guilders (or whatever they were called) in MMM back then. Babe went from Iya Biliki's daughter, to classy chic and dumped my guy with the speed of light.
Dude was almost obsessed that MMM will be back, as if he's waiting to use it for his revenge of being dumped. Lol
iamoyindamola: SEC came out yesterday to say cbex is not registered, immediately people were investing I am sure they hear and know about it That is when they should be singing that it's not registered, they left it took late
But na WA oh. People will just sit in their houses, and cook up ways to scam ignorant and gullible Nigerians, and voila! It normally works. Here I use to think religion is the only way Nigerians can be scammed off their hard earn money. Lol
BlueRayDick: What can the government do in this case?
Everything about the investment is done on an app and telegram groups. Shey make government dey hack the apps and telegram groups ni?
If government do that I'm sure we will fault the government for wielding illegal powers. You will be surprised at how sowore and professional activist will stage protests after protest for the government to allow people do whatever they want either money. The whole thing will take a politico turn sharply.
I think the relevant government agencies like CBN and SEC have always warned that all ponzi schemes are organized scams that will end in gnashing of teeth of "investors". But people no dey hear Noni
Actually, the FG, did exactly that during the MMM saga. I remember how many Nigerians started attacking the government abusing them that they don't want the common man to be rich like them, bla bla bla. At the end of the day, the result was sorrow, tears and money down the drain.
To me, I believe it's their fundamental human right to throw their money into any illegal or even legal business they want to, after all, who will end up crying and losing. Lol
Shegzdave: It’s more of greed cause how will someone promise to give an 100% profit on your capital/investment in a short period of time and you agreed
It's not greed, it's just ignorance and being very gullible, on the part of many Nigerians. And, it is exactly what many Nigerians are, very, gullible and ignorant.
DissTroy: Nigerians mostly have shitty taste in music anyway. And it's gotten worse since the 2010's.
- Banky W would have stood no chance of rising to the top today.
- Johnny Drille would barely get airplay today if he'd done "Wait For Me" today instead of in 2015.
- Nonso Amadi barely gets a listen today. Blessing Tangban who is a quality artiste never gets recognised but Yemi Alade who sings "No time for tumbo tumbo" gets all of the streams.
Bez Idakula who is the king of Nigerian alté has to focus on doing music gigs for special shows.
You forced the suave early 2010s version of Praiz to do shit music to survive. SKALES used to spit bars in the late 2000s now he does shit music for streams. "Stay", "Rich and Famous", "Stupid Song" etc by Praiz are timeless and world class.
Munachi Abii held her own against other rappers on Banky W's 2010 megahit "Lagos Party (Remix)". Her next releases got no recognition.
CAPital F.E.M.I would rival Joe and Craig David anyday but he gets no attention.
Tems had to stay away before you lots force her to do shit music. Great artiste. I listen to her whole discography everyday.
Asa tried a comeback but you all ignored her. She had to do "Manyana" to get any kind of recognition.
I feel Bnxn can do better. He writes great lyrics. He prefers the slow tempo. But if he goes full Tems or Bez, you'd all ignore him.
Nigerians mostly have shitty taste in music but when I point it out, they get defensive
Kaycee7: Really? Season 3 was viewed as an improvement over 2. You forgot the story about the captain and his crew that had to deal with some supernatural spider creature? A lot of people considered that one better than the siren story.
absolutely remember that story. It's not something I'll forget in a hurry. Watched it like 3 times.
armadeo: It's way older than the woke generation. I'm sure they'll have cancelled them if it was now.
Those comedies were gold back then and had no barriers.
P.s that scene was insane he looked at the penis in shock, looked at the woman still in shock then looked at you watching him to see if you're a shocked as he was. Lol
I'm actually kinda not surprise all the nonsense of woke generation didn't just start now, they've been building momentum, like parasites waiting for the perfect time to strike.
And yes, no doubt, if it's now, Leslie Nielson would have been long canceled and his illustrious carrier ruined beyond what we currently marvel at.
pu7pl3: yea I know...It's what Undertaker used during his American Badass era
Alright. Limp Bizkit actually performed live at one of the WrestleMania events.
I've always marveled at Fred Dust and his ways of carrying the crowd during live performances.
DissTroy: So Uromi people and those killed in other parts of Edo State do not deserve Fulani Governors going to be "humble"to Edo State Governor? This isn't about taking partisan sides as they are all APC. Are the lives of slain Edo people by Fulani herdsmen not worth taking a kneel for? Joe, you are an Edo man too. Come on!
Like I said, it's to de-escalate the already tense situation. You and I both know these people are never to be reasoned with, as any little thing, they go on a killing spree, and the government of the day, is normally unable to do anything about it.
It's what typical Uromi people do. The governor isn't Uromi, but he grew up in Uromi (he's a typical garage boy).
I've seen people old enough to birth people they kneel for, do so without any qualms, if I hadn't started mixing with my kinsmen, I would have berated the governor for doing so.
See Kay, when we kneel for people we aren't suppose to kneel for, go against the reason we knelt for them, we normally say "anything Dem see, make Dem take am like that". I've seen things play out bro, trust me.
DissTroy: No! Joe, why should a Governor kneel for anyone, even for the President? Wrong! He embarrassed the state. I'd understand a bow for elders or kneeling before the Oba of Benin but to others? Come on!
Its humility bro, and a very simple and humane way to de-escalate any situation.
Sub HCDTFs are being created and updated since then. Check to see the ones for Edo State if your LGA is a part of it. If it is, it was part of the 137 oil-producing areas which shared the #200 billion payout as at October last year.
It's all hush hush.
After we had that discussing, I checked the LGA's that are oil producing in Edo state, I found them. I already know my LGA isn't among. Still, heck. It's something else, lots of stuff goes on with Nigerians being non the wiser.
DissTroy: Because not every man falsely accused by a woman is thick-skinned enough to accept bring forevered branded a misogynist if he gets her prosecuted and jailed.
Remember Chioma Okoli and the Erisco falsely tagged killer tomato paste saga? There was a campaign of calumny against the Erisco CEO, championed by men (including middle-aged men) tagging him a misogynist to please their teeming followers of gullible and sentimental females. From R. Akinnola to A.H. Adigun on Facebook. Men who regularly pander to women and reap the benefits.
Well, that's for those who have a brand to protect and who also care about what people who don't add one ounce of value to their life, thinks.
This is among the reason why I say men should be self reliant and self employed. Those who have jobs, or even an image to protect are always at the receiving end. Look at Portable or John Wike, do you think any of those two give a damn about what some attention seeking rejects think of them. Lol
dominique: She's right, the money is enough to start a business without renting a shop. I don't know about other states but in Lagos, neighbourhood shops now go between 8-10k per month. Shops in busy areas, bus-stops and market places go for much higher and most landlords ask for 2 years rent upfront. The spending won't be on rent alone, she'll need to furnish the shop with chair, table, counters, shelves etc and make it look attractive to customers. She's only telling you the reality of things but you're here poverty shaming her. You strike me as the toxic abusive husband who will treat your wife like you're doing her a favour by marrying her. How I wish she can open her eyes and see how better she'll be far away from you.
Dominique, Dominique.
With that amount, she can start a business. Atleast open a POS station. Remember, not every small business needs a store or shop. There's nothing wrong in her, buying table and chair, and sit outside her house, for start.
Remember, there's beauty an grace in starting small. 😁
