Adelawal2011: Congratulations to those that have gotten their visa and good luck to those that are going for their interviews
Please I went for my interview in October and I am still waiting for a decision.
But now my DHL return envelope has expired as it it more than 3 months I purchased it, and the embassy will not be able to return my passport to me.,
and secondly my 15 months health insurance coverage is now remaining 11 months, though I have updated the start date to January 2026. Please what should I do? should I contact the embassy? please is there anyone with similar situation, your advice will be very helpful. I think you should message call dhl customer care, cos your envelope is still at the embassy which is still valid, and the only thing is you can’t track it any longer but they should be able to help you out from there I guess. |

Laryfrosh: How do you mean? At least those who joined the queue in April have been called for preliminary review. That's about 7 months. So, how did you come about the 1 year wait period? I’m guessing he means the whole process. It gets slower by the day, except they increase pace. And he’s just saying y’all should be ready to be patient. |

JIGGERNAPPY: Please, don't be too hard on yourself. I had my interview last week. My WAEC and one other document was laminated but the VO did not frown or make any negative remarks.
Although there has been speculations on the need for one not to laminate their documents, which I see the wrongs also. But for the ones you did in time past, it is assumed that you were not aware. Moving forward, do not laminate again and don't try to pill the one's that stick permanently, it wouldn't remove, rather it will ruin the certificate.
In summary, German Consulate does not frown at laminated documents. All the best in your endeavours. Jigger biko share your interview experience with us o and possibly test questions. Thank you |

Sid57: Congrats and all the best! Make sure -you purchase your self addressed envelope from dhl or ups - your photo is the right size - your documents(everything you uploaded)are original, no need for copies. - you get there early if you wanna leave early too. although the queue for national visa is not as long seeing as school has started already. -you have cash (1,000NGN notes only) or bank naira card for visa fee payment. -you know the basics of your profession/field of study cos you may be tested. -you keep your bag @ home or in your car, cos you will not be allowed to even stand on the queue with a bag. just have the things you need in your hands or in an envelope/folder - phones are switched off while on the queue(they will check), and leaving the queue can be detrimental, so conclude all phone matters before getting there -never mind the harshness of them people at the gate, do not let it frazzle you. just listen to their instructions, follow it and communicate boldly and eloquently. Hello Sid, How was your interview? Where you tested? If yes what were you asked please? |

ujnwachukwu: Please what do you mean if we dont have a recognised degree? Her Degree and University is not listed in Anabin. My degree is listed but my university (UNIZIK) is listed. What do I do please ?
Also can you emphasize what you mean by we both have to apply Individually? No option of a primary applicant and accompanying family, like myself we are family of 4. My wife and I plus 2 children. Can I be guided please on how best I will go about this.
May possibly apply for a PhD in Germany then if that will be easier for all of us to relocate.
Will appreciate any guide pls You have to apply for the opportunity card individually, meaning submit and get your documents access as a person not as a family with primary applicant and dependents. Meaning you have to have a blocked account or sponsorship letter for each of you, I think minor children can accompany parents tho, someone can help clarify this. You need to get your wife’s degree recognized by Zab if it’s not on Anabin, Same with you. Read through the thread to get details on the application. |

ujnwachukwu: Like I said I don't have a tech skill yet irrespective of my qualifications (BSc Computer Science (UNIZIK) and MSc Information Technology). Between me and my wife that is into Health related field (Diploma Community health, Bachelor Public health a d master of public health Epidemiology) also currently working with an NGO with over tears experience. Who has the chance more to be the primary applicant for the German opportunity card? The opportunity card has no primary applicant, you both have to apply individually. If you’re using the point system ( you don’t have a recognized degree or so) one of you would receive a point applying as married partner(spouse). |

Kosiada: Hello all, @Hannania and the others, thanks for all you do. Please I’d like to know the duration for preliminary review. It says one week on the website, but I suspect it may be more. I uploaded for preliminary review on the 12th, got a comment on the 14th saying they don’t see a reason on the declaration of commitment, I responded referring them to where it was written on the same day. But I haven’t gotten any response yet (today is 21st). Please advise if you know someone with a similar duration. Thank you. Please when did you join the waiting list? |

Tifay: Thanks, I have now paid for it and helped process the ZAB thing.
Also do you have any idea how long it'll take before they automatically delete his application. Is there a way to appeal by sending an email or response for this to be held off - with evidence of us initiating the ZAB request
I asked him not to respond yet. I am trying to see if he can hold off till the ZAB thing comes around. Of course I know this is unlikely but this would depend on your response to the question above
Also do you think he's better off starting a new application now since it may likely take close to the 3 months before he gets to the review stage?
About the learning German thing, Is it compulsory? He's in Finance and has finance certifications and fancy his chances at quickly getting a job due to his skills. Will the German thing be a show stopper? and Can you recommend any standardized and widely recognized places he could learn in Lagos? How intense is it? How long would he have to do it? While that is on, just register with another email and be on the waitlist to be on a safer side, cos ZAB might end up telling you fast track can only be done for blue card holders which takes about 2 weeks. So in other for you not to loose on both ends register and join the waiting list again to beat the 3 months while waiting for the statement of comparability. |
