Hello Mamas, please recommend a food flask for me. I am looking for one that has an inner plate/container that can be used for soups/sauce and should not be more than 800ml. Thanks. |

Ruthiegal: Congratulations, please get a manual pump and keep pumping for now. He might find it difficult to latch on your nipples for now, but since he's taking formula from the bottle, just fill the bottle with your expressed milk and feed. |

Nyxx123: First of all, congratulations. I think the best thing to do is to keep the formula and the bottles away from her. Most people (especially if they have raised children too) do not understand why we want to ebf. I had the same issue with someone and i educated her that it's natural for the baby to be hungry all the time in the first few weeks because of the size of their stomach If you are going to be working while breastfeeding, I would advise you to go for an electric pump (preferably rechargeable). But if not, you can use manual, you also do not have to splurge on expensive ones, I have the Avent manual pump and the cheaper Dr. Gym manual pump, I really cant see the difference, despite the fact there's a 8000 naira price difference. Sorry ehn, it will get better. Just take it a day at a time. 1 Like |

CoolOne1: Nothing o. They said the higher the demand, the more supply. So I nursed on demand from start before we transitioned to nursing and pumping. Some people say power pumping (pumping at 2 hours interval) increases quantity over time... |

Adequate459: Okay so this is what I do; 1. Morning before I leave for work: Pump (This depends on how many times he nursed overnight, most times I feel empty, so i go to work like that without pumping) 2. Before 8am: Pump ( I try to get to work early so I can do my thing before work starts) 3. 10:30am ish: Pump 4. 1:30pm ish: Pump 5. Closing time: Pump (I close at 4, so I pump before heading into traffic), pack milk inside cooling bag with ice pad, I have a fridge to keep my milk and pump bottles at work. My target is to get nothing less than 400mls of milk at work, sometimes I can get up to 600mls. (My baby takes about 500mls of milk) I get home around 6pm, If my baby is full before I get home, I just pump, If not I nurse. I continue nursing overnight, sometimes I pump at midnight if my baby does not feed well and my breasts are full. soooo, yesterday's milk for today's feed, today's milk for tomorrow's feed and so on.... P.S. There's no science to this thing, you can modify it as it suits you. You have to be determined to see this through as you will probably get frustrated at some point. You will need a good electric pump (preferably double and can run on batteries, you cant trust NEPA) Several feeding bottles, because you might not want the caregiver to start changing baby teats, so just prep the bottles yourself (90mls per feed is fine, 4 or 5 bottles should do) Storage bottles with ice pad and cooling bag You might also need extra power supply as Breastmilk will last just 4-6 hours in room temp, 5 days in a fridge and 6 months if kept frozen, freezing is not advisable though. (if frozen milk thaws, you have to use within 24 hours) Also please feed well and get as much rest as you can, as breastfeeding (either nursing or pumping) saps energy. Let me know if you have other questions. 17 Likes 8 Shares |

Adequate459: Hello. First, you have to get a pump that works for you (I use a double electric), plenty feeding bottles (it will be easier if they can feed baby straight without pouring from storage bottles) and a cooling pack with ice pad to carry the milk you express from work home. My baby takes milk expressed the previous day, kept in the fridge all through and warmed when he needs to eat. Let me know if you need any pumping schedule to work with. |
