Crime / Young Man Organises The Gang Rape Of His Own Girlfriend In Ogun by shelegangan: 10:24am On Jan 11, 2019
A man who organised the gang rape of his own girlfriend in Ogun state, has been apprehended.

Three of the alleged five rapist have, however, been nabbed by police detectives in Ogun State, even as a serious manhunt for the two fleeing members of the the gang, including the said boyfriend, identified as Abass Ramoni, has begun.

The 22-year-old victim (name withheld), reported at Adatan Police Station that she attended a carnival on January 3, 2018 on the invitation of her boyfriend, Abass, tagged: “Glorious Guys Carnival” , held at Elega Junction in Abeokuta.

However, with the carnival rounding off at about 2:00am, she decided to pass the night with the said Abass in his House No. 11, Osoba Street, Elega, unknown to her that the boyfriend had allegedly connived with four other friends of his to take turns on her.

According to the victim, while they were inside, the four hoodlums stormed the apartment and took turns on her, prompting her to lodge a complaint with the the police.

To this end, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, “Upon the report, the DPO, Adatan Division, CSP Oluwadare Joshua, led his detectives to the area where three out of the five hoodlums were apprehended. The victim was quickly taken to the General Hospital for medical treatment, and report actually confirmed that the victim was raped”.

The PPRO gave the names of the suspects as Ramoni Yusuf, 24; Abiodun Sikiru, 23 and Moses Oluwasindara, 23, adding that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, who expressed disgust on the action of the hoodlums, had ordered a massive manhunt for the remaining two suspects, and also directed that the case be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labor Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation and prosecution of the suspects.

Sports / CONGRATULATIONS!! Jose Mourinho Gets A New Job by shelegangan: 10:17am On Jan 11, 2019
Jose Mourinho has secured his first job since being sacked as Manchester United coach after joining BeIN Sports as a pundit.

The broadcaster announced on Thursday that ‘the Special One’ will be an analyst for Chelsea’s Premier League trip to Arsenal on January 19 as well as Qatar and Saudi Arabia’s Asian Cup group-stage tie on January 17 on the Qatari channel’s broadcasts in the Middle East and North Africa.

Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United in December after the club’s worst start to a season since 1990 and won three trophies during his two-and-a-half year tenure at Old Trafford.

“Jose is one of the greatest football managers of all time, and we hope that his expert analysis and charismatic personality will be enjoyed by our millions of viewers,” a beIN spokesman said in a statement.

Mourinho had been linked with a return to former club Benfica after the Lisbon giants fired coach Rui Vitoria last week, but the 55-year-old told Correio da Manha earlier on Thursday that he would not take the job. “I don’t have any intention of coming back to work in Portugal,” he told the newspaper. “I’m fine at the moment.”

A good move or a set back for his career drop your commnt down...

Politics / 2019 Election: Islamic Group Warns Buhari Against Removing IGP Idris by shelegangan: 10:03am On Jan 11, 2019
The Muslims Rights Concern, MURIC, has contended that it will be foolhardy to retire the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Idris Ibrahim five or six weeks to a general election.

There have been several calls recently for the appointment of a new Inspector General of Police (IGP) particularly as the tenure of the current holder of that office, Idris expired on 3rd January 2019 after reaching the mandatory 35 years in active service.

IGP Idris was formally appointed on 21st March, 2016.

However, the Islamic human rights organization opposed the idea of retiring the IGP at this time.

MURIC in the statement made available to us, by its director and founder, Ishaq Akintola, a professor of Islamic Studies, blamed politicians for not thinking Nigeria.

“Election period is a very sensitive period. Anything can happen and we all know the kind of security challenges our country is facing.

“There is no doubt that IG Idris Kpotun must have perfected his strategy for maintaining law and order during the coming general election.

“Some instructions must have been given to the state commands. Certain arrangements must also have been made to put all police formations in a state of readiness.

“A new IGP around this time will naturally make one or two changes because styles differ.

“This may not really augur well because the police force needs stability and continuity in an electioneering period.

“We know that administration is a continuum but you don’t change the goal post in the middle of the game.

“Seasoned administrators know that unless there is a force majeure, it will be unwise to change the officer who planned a project at the point of implementation.

“No university will change the head of a programme on the eve of an accreditation exercise.

“We are perturbed by the rancorous voices of dissent over this matter. Interestingly enough, this IGP will not be the first whose tenure was extended.

“Chief Olusegun Obasanjo extended Sunday Ehindero’s tenure by twelve months while Musa Yaradua also extended Mike Okiro’s tenure. So what is so new this time around?

“Equally disturbing is the fact that it is mainly members of the opposition with their cronies, lackeys, court jesters and boot-lickers who are making the loudest calls. This does not look good enough. Are some people afraid of their own shadows?

“Is it the fear of past deeds? We remember that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan used the police to harass state governors.

“Is someone afraid of reprisals? We appear to be thinking of grabbing power at all cost. We are not thinking of Nigeria.

“This is exactly what is missing in our politicians today.

“There is acute desertification of statesmanship whereas the same politicians who are rooting for the victory for their political parties today will be the first to defect to another party whenever their personal and narrow interests are threatened.

“We lack loyalty, moral principle and a clearly identified political ideology.

“What we can see now is that politicians are only thinking of 2019 election whereas what we need are statesmen who will be thinking of Nigeria after the elections. Who did this to Nigeria?

“In conclusion, MURIC charges President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the tenure of IGP Ibrahim Idris far beyond the election period in order to ensure a hitch-free 2019 general elections as well as post-election stability and to ignore all protestations to the contrary.

“We urge Nigerian politicians to think Nigeria, to have faith in the system, to imbibe principled politicization and to inculcate a veritable political ideology,” he said.

What did you think about his advice?
