That N750,000 caution fee is the one to worry about. Rent and agent fees you argue about before you pay. Caution deposit is different. You give the landlord N750,000, he keeps it in his personal account for two years, and on your way out he remembers scratches on the tiles. Most tenants just let the money go because fighting for it costs more than it is worth. That is what we built ShieldDeposit for. We hold the deposit in a ring-fenced account with a CBN-licensed bank, not the landlord's personal account. If you both agree at the end, you get your money back.
