TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 9 by Showkey1313: 4:27pm On Nov 10, 2025
Hello everyone, please I need your advice.

I recently received a conditional offer from Anglia Ruskin University for the next intake, I actually applied for a UK student visa for the September intake earlier this year, but I was denied after the UKVI interview. The refusal wasn’t due to any fraudulent documents — it was mainly because I couldn’t clearly convince the consular officer of my study intentions. The decision letter only came through recently, about a week ago, so when I was applying to Anglia Ruskin University, I didn’t declare that I had been denied before, since at that time the refusal decision hadn’t officially been issued.

My question now is:
👉 Should I inform Anglia Ruskin University that I’ve had a previous visa refusal (and explain the situation), or
👉 Since I already have a conditional offer and I’m about to proceed with payment and CAS process, is there no need to mention it since this new application is with a different school and I’ve learned from my previous experience?
Please I need your advice guys
Thank you!

Please when denied a student visa for this September intake because of an interview, is it compulsory when reapplying to another school to let them know you have been denied before or it’s not necessary and there is no way the school can know that

I dont think that was the reason you were denied, i have two brothers in the state and i filled no and was still approved.
Did you apply for an F1 visa? And were you asked during your interview if you had siblings there except you just writing it on your Ds 160

Me: replied I’m fine and you? And we both exchanged a little smile

Vo: so are you married?
Me: No, but I have a fiancé which we’re planning to get married as soon as I return

Vo: okay, so why Jackson state university?
Me: so aside from the political science program and it’s concentration which matches my interest, I discovered an ongoing research work by Dr Phillip at the department on the effect of grassroots movement on policy change in developing countries, moreso this topic resonates with my interest in understanding how local activism can drive political reforms which will be really helpful to Nigeria when I return whereby the citizens can be directly involved in policy making and governance as a whole

Vo: so what’s your plan after graduating?
Me: after completing my masters degree in political science, I intend to return back to Nigeria to utilize the skills and knowledge I have gained in the US particularly about African politics to create a well organized and reform political ideology here in Nigeria

Vo: who is sponsoring you?
Me: my Daddy

Vo:So have you ever travelled before?

Then she handed me the blue abi na yellow paper I go call and then she said unfortunately we won’t be approving your visa … please can you tell me where the error is guys and also I actually have a sister in the US but I felt I should say no so they won’t deny me cos she also got a student visa in 2019 and she is already a citizen and a soldier self but I felt if I say yes it will hurt my chances of getting a visa cos she didn’t return back .. but if you guys feel there is another reason for my denial please tell me because I’m preparing for another visa interview in few days and do you think I should say I have a sister there and I hope me saying no before won’t get my visa denied again if I say yes this time around
