Bla Bla Bla Bla.......... All I see is someone looking for validation. She does not cook, doesn't greet me, she is three years older than me. I'm sure you didn't see all these when you impregnated her 7 years ago. Okay, let's agree the first one was a one night stand gone wrong. Okay, the second was what? And you even had to say "A girl living with me of which I haven't paid her bride price" . How disgusting. Someone needs to advice "that girl" to stop cooking for you, opening her legs for you, stop taking care of the house, you or whoever that came to visit and treat you like who you truly are, a roommate ; "Just another boy living with her" 6 Likes |

Londonboyrep: You actually missed the point of my post. Now read my post again where I said they could be better professionally but it depends on individual indicators. An IT (New Oil) contractor with 5 years experience cannot be compared to a Fresh chemistry graduate. And No, €1800 Netto is not a very low wage in Germany. That's the average Net pay of a Nurse in Germany. In comparison, those on minimum full-time wage is €1100 a month. The average salary in Germany is €2300 Netto and around €1900 Net in UK. 1 Like |

Londonboyrep: You people "misuse this doing well". I'm in Hamburg earning over €1800 a month. To many others, it may be doing well. To me, it's not. Considering my expertise, the kind of job I'm doing, lifestyle I'm used to in Nigeria and elsewhere and many others. Your friends may not be as highly educated as this individual, may not be as skilled as this individual or they may not have bigger goals as this individual or are very contented in doing blue-collar jobs. They can also be in a better position professionally but I think doing well should be dependent on individual indicators. I know so many people in Nigeria would die to earn the €1800 that is making me a bit depressed same as many who would consider such an offer shameful . So doing well is relative to every individual and should not be used in general terms. electromagnito, I can relate to your experience. I also finished from a French University technically as part of a Joint program though but my grades are in the French system also.Yes, I spoke French up to B1 level and I had to run with my tails from France. So many things against you PROFESSIONALLY as a Black African coupled with the covert racism in that place. But I have to disagree with you, it is very very hard to get a professional job after study but not impossible. Also, I want to congratulate you on ending up with a grade point of 12+ considering how bad French grading is. You hit the minimum for PhD studies across the world but I still think you have an edge when it comes to doing a paid PhD in France. With a strong Undergraduate CGPA, you have more than enough chances in places like the US, Canada, Switzerland and the UK where the undergraduate grades also play an important role in the PhD process. But please, my advice is for you to write GRE and apply to US schools for PhD. Most of the funded positions will be closing by end of December / Early January. Run from Europe as far as you can if you're better than blue-collar jobs. P. S. If you need a change of environment for now, you can consider the Netherlands Orientation Visa (check if your university is eligible). It costs €171 euros and does not require any proof of funds. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

First thing you should be considering is a country where you speak the language. Second thing is a better quality of life relative to your budget, followed by Security. If you're a Nigerian, I don't think you should even be considering Algeria or any North-Africa country. My considerations will be Rwanda, Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania and Ivory Coast if you speak French. |

iammo: This life ehn. We've got Nigerian students from Canada come to Germany because of lack of skilled opportunities. They say there is discrimination on lack of Canadian degrees and Canadian experience. Also, honest reviews from Quora don't help. It seems many skilled migrants in Canada are also trapped in these same unskilled jobs. I would have gone to Canada long ago if not for that. I felt the money to be wasted on the processing of the Canadian PR to go get unskilled jobs could be better channelled to my business projects in Nigeria. 137 Likes 3 Shares |

truthsayer009: I didn't say no job. I said lack of getting professional jobs. Some people, Yes maybe, especially if you studied IT. A very large majority is trapped in menial jobs, not even full-time ones, the ones you get with unskilled employment agencies. Even with PhDs and all that. I wouldn't call that a great life. But to some people, it is. You have to understand perspectives. I have a female Nigerian here who is employed with an agency and goes to clean people's home. She is quite happy and considers it a great opportunity considering that sometimes she joins the family on dinner outings and get gifts. It's great for her but not for me. I wouldn even accept something like that as I think It's no less than being a maid Will you be able to survive in Germany, Yes. If you're someone with a big dream, I'll say difficult. In Germany: Germans> EU nationals>US>Eastern Europe >Asians>Indians/Paki etc >Africans. That's the order of getting professional jobs. 275 Likes 21 Shares |

My reservations about moving to the UK - I hate being at the mercy of others. Going to the UK on a spousal permit means losing my German residency and I'll be at her mercy. As should anything go wrong with the relationship , I'll have to leave the UK. - Getting a professional job. It doesn't make sense to go to the UK and continue to be trapped in menial jobs. I have been there and I hardly see Nigerians in professional jobs except those with rich parents. Someone should advice me on that as it could not be a real reflection. My Reservations about Nigeria - High rate of startup failure - Difficulty in getting loans to expand. I have heard they can ask for even your neck in those times. With a lack of collateral, more difficult. For those asking about my course, Yes it's a STEM degree. 104 Likes 9 Shares |
Travel / Should I Move To The UK Or Return To Nigeria? by ShyWhale: 9:03pm On May 13, 2019 |
I am a Nigerian in Germany with a German Masters degree. It's quite difficult to get professional jobs in Germany as an African as we are usually the last of the pack. The only luck I ever had was to get internships, internships that takes several months to get and usually only for short periods. The high percentage of Africans even with German Phds doing menial jobs is highly discouraging and depressing. Most are trapped in the race for survival and I can't imagine myself living life like them. I feel I could do better with my skills and education that spreads across Europe's top countries. I made the decision to return to Nigeria, harness my skills and start up a processing company. At 25 and the sole breadwinner of an extended family, they are asking me to stay put, saying that the Nigerian environment is not good for business (I feel they are only scared of losing out on the goodies they get from me). Also last year, the family introduced me to a female in the UK, talking about marriage to her. The said lady is a Nigerian within my age range, but born and raised in the UK. Though I have been to the UK severally to see her, I have made no commitments whatsoever as she is not the kind of lady I would marry all things being equal. She and the family have however given me a ultimatum to decide now. What do you advice? 86 Likes 10 Shares |

Enny2013: I apologise to everyone that I have offended. The world of men is too severe and above all, things are beyond understanding. I tried to serve God through my brothers and sisters. I love my divine master, he knows it well and that's why he will forgive and welcome me. My fellow priests, pray for me and above all, forgive me. Monseigneur Paul Dacoury, forgive me. Monseigneur Raymond Ahoua, pardon me and above all, pray for me. I apologise to all my friends. I apologise to my family, that of Maffere and Cellede Bongouanou , I'm sorry Duques, I'm sorry Flavian (basically just saying sorry personally to certain individual names here) I wish to be buried in Bongouanou, in front of St Andrew's Church where I spent my whole childhood. Next to the tomb of my father Alexandre and not too far from my mother Marie Cecile Tanoh. My dear father Kadjo, negotiate with your Bishop Monseigneur Boniface and Monseigneur Raymond Ahoua so that it is possible. The plan B would be abrobakro but I really insist that it be Bongouanou. * Monseigneur is the title of priests, same way we use Father in Nigeria. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Travel / Re: Citizen By Birth (please Help) by ShyWhale: 12:53am On Apr 13, 2019 |
Cc:, jmoes Nigerian citizenship is not easy to come by. Nigeria does not grant citizenship by birth (place) . Either of your parents needs to be a Nigerian before you can be granted citizenship. And for that, either of your parents or grandparents needs to have been born in Nigeria. However, you do qualify for citizenship by naturalisation if you can prove you have stayed in Nigeria continously for at least the past 15 years. I must warn that there are so many tasking requirements to be met, one of whom is getting the recommendation from the governor of the state where you reside. Note: You must also renounce your citizenship of Benin before you can apply. Nigeria does not allow dual citizenship to those who are not of descent. 3 Likes |

lakeside50: Thank you for the reply. I don't want Alapere. BTW, I don't need it to be popular. Just an upper middle class area and closed to non-residents. I don't want people coming uninvited. How much should be my budget? What about Ojodu? I know River Valley makes sense but it's technically in Ogun state and I need a Lagos address. Also, I really don't need a 2 bedroom but the pictures of miniflats I see in Nigeria are something else. They are built like a cubicle and I so much value living space, especially when I have to put the fridge and washing machines in the kitchen and also need to use a dining table. Do you think I can get a spacious one bedroom flat that is not a BQ on short notice? |

Hello Lakeside, can I get a two bedroom for 500-600k? in either of Shangisha, Ojota, Maryland, Gbagada, Magodo and Ikeja I may need one from June. As a very private person, I need it in an estate where non-residents are not allowed in without clearance. I'm willing to pay estate fees separately if required. |

I still don't see the clearance sale in whatever you are selling. - A brand new 2HP Polystar air-conditioner cost about the same 120k. - A brand new PS4 pro costs less than that, even with the 7CDs. - A brand new 5KVA stabilizer costs less than the 35k you put there. The same goes for all the other items. Where is the CLEARANCE SALE? 1 Like |
