Properties › Re: My New Apartment Has No Network Signal Indoors And It Is Affecting My Work by Sirchiboy: 7:24am On Jun 14 |
babaidan: Good evening everyone.
I need advice regarding a house I recently rented through an agent.
I have not stayed in the apartment for up to 3 days, but I have discovered a major problem that is seriously affecting my work and income. There is virtually no mobile network inside the house. MTN, Airtel, and Glo all fail indoors. I have tested multiple phones and networks in every room, including the parlour, kitchen, and bedrooms. The only way I can get a little signal is by opening the door or going outside. As I write this, my younger brother and friend are outside late at night trying to get network access. I also use several phones and a laptop for my work, so this issue has already affected my productivity and earnings. The building is relatively new, and this problem was never mentioned by the agent before I paid. Had I known that there was no usable network inside the apartment, I would have seriously reconsidered renting it because my work depends heavily on internet access.
My questions are:
If I report this to the landlord and agent and they refuse to refund my money or provide a solution, what are my options?
Can such a matter be reported to the police, or is it strictly a civil matter?
Does this situation give me any legal grounds to seek a refund or compensation, considering I discovered the issue almost immediately after moving in?
I would appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar or has knowledge of tenancy and property matters in Nigeria.
Thank you Na ph |

Career › Re: One Bitter Truth You Should Know As An Employee by Sirchiboy: 4:49pm On Jun 09 |
Rapmoney: This is one bitter truth you should always remind yourself of as an employee. It is even worse for people who work in organisations owned by one person or a particular family.
Your employer will never pay you what will make you have enough resources to live a comfortable life.
REASONS: 1. You will be in a better position to walk out of situations that you don't like in the workplace.
2. You will be in a better position to resign and start your own business.
Most Nigerian employers are just like the government. They give you just what is enough for you to survive, and not to succeed.
As an employer, you should realize that the people working for you also have their personal dreams and visions. Your business is your vision, and not theirs. So as they work for you to build your vision, the job should as give them the platform to build theirs. If your vision is being built, and theirs remain unachievable, then there is something wrong with you and your business system.
Last week, I attended a webinar where one of the so-called Nigerian industry giants was admonishing workers to be dedicated and put in their best. I didn't have any issue with that, but when he concluded by saying that salary doesn't matter, that what matters is passion and dedication, I shook my head. We have really lost it! You fly first class to different parts of the world. You buy choice properties. Your kids attend some of the best schools abroad. All from the proceeds of your business, and you open your mouth to tell me that salary doesn't matter? I better dey sleep 24/7 than to work in any place not paying me from 500k and above |
