Education / ASUU Srike Can Last Forever Says ASUU Chairman—ASUU Pleads With Parents by Sirdesmond(m): 6:16am On Nov 30, 2018
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned that the ongoing strike by its members may last for a prolong time as no concrete resolution has been reached in the negotiation with the Federal Government. The president of the union, Biodun Ogunyemi called on parents and students to show understanding and solidarity with the union as this is towards saving Nigeria’s university system from collapse.

“The struggle is to ensure too that we save Nigerian universities from going the way our public primary and secondary schools have gone.

“Today, most parents are sending their children and wards to private primary and secondary schools around the country because of the perceived or alleged falling standards.

“We do not want our universities to go the same way because a lot of our parents may not be able to afford the private university fees,’’ he said.

Education / Fg Reduces Cost Of Jamb, Neco And Bece Forms— See Jamb Registration And Thread by Sirdesmond(m): 5:49am On Nov 29, 2018
Report has it that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reduction in the cost of JAMB UTME, NECO SSCE and the Basic Education Certificate Examination forms. The reduction will be implemented from January 2019 with the cost of JAMB UTME Form dropping from N5,000 to N3,500 while NECO will drop from N11,350 to N9,850.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, announced this on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

According to him, these exam bodies are not meant to be revenue generating bodies, they’re only supposed to cover costs/operating expenses.

He noted that the obvious increase in the amount amount being remmited by JAMB from less than N60m in 2010 - 2016 to 15 Billion in 2017 - 2018 is an indication that the fees being charged could be reduced.

The minister, in his announcement stated that the president directed the Ministry to look into the reduction following the significant improvement in revenues being remitted to the Treasury by the Education Agencies.

Meanwhile, we are still monitoring when the 2019 JAMB Form will be released on Sale. You too can monitor this progress

The extent some people are going to make diabolic money is quite shocking. The suspected killers of Elozino Ogege, a 300 level student of Mass Communication, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, who was murdered recently, have been apprehended by the police.
The Police PRO, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, disclosed that

“all those connected with the gruesome murder of Elozino have been arrested and will duly be prosecuted.”

“During the confessional statement of the two ritualists nabbed in Umege, Abraka,  they said that they have also given human parts to the said herbalist on five different occasions, though they were not specific if the five persons murdered were DELSU students.”

Clyne Solano has a condition called hydranencephaly
A boy born with a rare brain condition has been left with a misshapen skull which looks like 'devil horns' after surgery to reduce pressure on his brain.
22-months-old Clyne Solano, was born with a condition called hydranencephaly, which meant he had a small brain and fluid inside his head.
Clyne, from the Philippines, underwent an operation in March this year to relieve pressure on his brain.
But parts of his skull collapsed where his brain hadn't formed, leaving ridges on his head that resemble devil horns.
'I don't want to proceed with it for now because I am afraid that my baby is not yet strong enough,' said Justine Gatarin, a single mother.

'This is why I am having a hard time making a decision. If we don't do it, his head will look like that for the rest of his life. Some people say his head resembles devil horns, but to us there's no doubt he is an angel. It breaks my heart to see him suffering.'
Clyne is being treated at the Philippines Children's Medical Center in Pasig, a city in the metropolitan district of Manila, home to 12.9million people.
He must be fed through a tube and has a pipe inserted into his airway to help him breathe.
Hydranencephaly is an extremely rare condition which begins before birth and prevents a baby's brain developing fully, while also giving them an enlarged head.

Education / ASUU UPDATE—ASUU Vows Never To Call Of The Strike_this Is Political Said Ngige by Sirdesmond(m): 3:30pm On Nov 23, 2018
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday, vowed to continue the ongoing strike until the Federal Government meets or agree to meet all its demands. Reacting to a comment by the Minister of Labour and productivity, Dr Chris Ngige, that the strike action by the union is political, the Chairman, of ASUU University of Ibadan, Chapter Dr Deji Omole, clarified that the strike was declared over alleged failure of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to fulfil the content of the Memorandum of Action it signed with the Union in 2017.

The contents of the MOU bordered on revatilisation and funding of universities, unpaid accumulated earned academic earned allowances, release of University staff pension company license among other issues. While speaking with newsmen in Ibadan after the congress of the union.

Omole, said: “How can our strike be political when there are matters that you as government signed and yet failed to fulfil? To us, it is the Federal Government that is being political with the truth by becoming untrustworthy.
