When Lawyers begin lying, you know that water has passed Gaari.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: What's That Job Once Highly Respected That Has Lost Its Respect Now? by skumi: 9:58am On Feb 21, 2025
1) Law : I grew up respecting the profession, believing that Lawyers would uphold truth at all cost. I have realised that Lawyers are actually more Corrupt than the average Joe; that they can even Corrupt the law itself. I've seen Lawyers become think tanks of devious strategies; web of lies, wrong policies, initiatives; champions of falsehood. Unfortunately, we expect the Law to be the last hope of mankind. No wonder my mom says Lawyers cannot make it to heaven.

2) Medical personnel(Doctors and Nurses excluded): its only in Nigeria that relatives of patients and even patients on admission in hospital fast and pray. Why? So that God will protect them from evil hospital workers. I used to think that empathy was a basic requirement for anyone who is into the life saving profession.

3) Road safety personnel: I have come to conclude that the basic requirement to join this team is that you must be a thief.

CareerRequest For Help In Recovering Pensions From Hoop Telecoms Ltd by skumi(op): 9:55pm On Feb 01, 2025
Dear all,

I need help, legal advise or experiential advise on collecting my pensions from Hoop Telecoms Ltd.

Hoop Telecoms Ltd, an ISP is located in Lagos state, with offices at Illupeju and Gbagada. I worked there for almost 4yrs, however, I had to leave to maintain my mental health. The place is toxic, very tribalistic and run by a decietful MD, and his team of likeminded crooked management team.

When I joined, it took sometime to get settled and figure out how things were going. I had been jobhunting for over 1yr with only 6-months experience. Getting a job at Hoop was my lastcard, so I had to endure the environment at least to get experience on my cv. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience.

Realizing I was in a bad place started through informations, gossips, complaints from co-staff, observations of this and that, injustice and victimization, outright wickedness and witchhunting, partiality, immorality join sef: girlfriends of the MD using influence to have their way. Stories plenty. I did my best to stay out of them. I started hearing about unpaid pensions from those who resigned before me.

Salary delay started on my 3rd month. It started as a 1-week delay; the next month 2-weeks delay; then 1-month, then 2 and 3 months. Worse, no notifications from HR and no apology.

For almost 4yrs, no salary increase, yet we did appraisal twice. No HMO, no welfare, despite HR confirmed that these were available during initial interview. No organization, my unit head was the definition of toxicity. She was even more powerful than her oga. She did absolutely what she wanted. We were kept on our toes as if we would get sacked tomorrow. Harrassment, no be small tin. Somethings you just have to endure until you get a break.

I got another job about a year ago and up till now, I havent recieved my pensions from Hoop Telecoms. Both the amount deducted from my salaries by Hoop and the amount to be contributed by Hoop have not been remitted to my PFA. Ive not seen this kind of wickedness before.

The HR does not even acknowledge emails talk less of give a timeline for payment. Even people who left before I left, even from other departments have not recieved their pensions. The HR(Tope) is a puppet. She is being controlled by another person, friend(Joshua) to the MD(Jim).

I heard that the MD has strong connections at Pencom who help him to avoid responsibility. We are still investigating these connections.

I want to ask for help if anyone knows Law practitioners whose specialty is on cases like mine. Im not alone, we are plenty. I do not mind spending the accrued pension on Lawyers just to put Hoop where it belongs.

THe above is apart from its shitty services.
