That is the Andalucian flag, a region in Spain. Each region has its own flag. Andalucia is NOT clamouring for independence from Spain, neither is Sergio Ramos. Its only Catalunya that is clamouring for independence.

Holding a permanent residence card is different from being a citizen, thus holding their passport. In Spain, for instance, you get permanent residency after having lived legally for 5 years then after 10 years of legal residence, you are eligible to apply for citizenship thus becoming their citizen and thereby getting their passport.

NOTE you have to apply after the 10 years and also have a clean record for it to be approved.

So this guy was already eligible to apply for his Spanish nationality. He should have just waited, with the passport he can then go to Switzerland legally to work and then be able to claim benefits legally.

Not true. As a Spanish PR holder, u need a visa to enter the UK. It's if you hold a Spanish passport, that you don't need a visa.

Such a pity! Even if he gets back to Spain which i believe would be difficult, he wouldn't be able to renew his residence permit. From his story, he was deported last year and its a maximum of 3 months from the expiry of your residence permit to apply for renewal. If its not renewed after 3 months, you lose it. So that is history.

He should have just waited to file for his citizenship, now see where this has led him. I feel so sorry for him.
