SOURCE: http://slicereports.com/blog/2015/08/02/boko-haram-will-be-defeated-by-the-end-of-the-yearpres-buhari-boosted/ President Muhammadu Buhari who was on a –day official visit to Cotonu as special guest of honour at the 55th independence anniversary of Benin Republic, said that Boko Haram will be defeated hopeful by end of this year. He spoke with optimism on Saturday during a gal lunch held in honour by president of Benin Republic, Boni Yayi that the multi-national Joint Task Force, MNJTF launched in Cameroon on Thursday would start yielding fruits. This came after Yayi described his country as the 37th State of Nigeria while assuring president Buhari that 800 troops would be contributed to the Joint Task Force by his country in the all-out-assault on insurgents. While commending the gesture by Yayi, Buhari said: “I assure you that we will defeat Boko Haram by the end of this year. I am impressed by your concern and critical approaches by increasing your contributions to the multinational task force of the Lake Chad Commission. This is a great sacrifice on the part of the Benin Republic…. “Even in my first coming into office under a different arrangement, we have learnt to live in peace with our neighbours. Within the week I was sworn in, I went to Niger, Chad. I was supposed to go to Cameroon but I was summoned by the G7 leaders to brief them about the security situation in Nigeria concerning Boko Haram which declared allegiance to ISIS which gives it international dimension”. **************************** Is this possible? To me, he is about to repeat the past mistakes of promising without thinking of circumstances ? Mr President should not forget that he had promised to crush them in three months and now, has reneged to the end of the year? Haba! Baba!! Have you done some calculations on how many innocent lives that would be wasted before then? Please stop talking. Take action. Talk is cheap! What do you think?

The General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare said yesterday during an interview with Sahara TV that he is not expecting to be appointed a minister in President Buhari’s cabinet. Please read below in his words “As far as I am concerned, I am not expecting to be named a minister. If I am offered an appointment, when I get to that bridge I will cross it. I am already a minister of the gospel. Ministry is my calling and my life. The word minister means servant. When you expect nothing, you cannot be disappointed. I keep on doing what I am doing, to be a solid supporter of the Buhari movement and what he stands for in public life. I have no regret on what I did in 2011. If an opportunity presents itself, I will do it again. I am not seeking anything. “Let’s not count chickens before they are hatched. The bible says the expectation of the righteous will not be cut off. That is when the expectation of the righteous is in tandem with God’s expectation. If you are expecting from God, the flesh can fail. Who knows tomorrow? In the next two months, when the ministers would be named, what if nobody is here or alive? ” ********************************** Is this man real? This is a funny statement. No issue patterning the subject matter has been raised from any quarters and so why is he running his mouth? To me, he is speaking the opposite. He should have said, ‘I am eagerly waiting for an appointment from Buhari after having expended so much effort at convincing my devotees to vote for him against their wish.’ Sir, your wish is transparent; we can read your mind biko. What do you think about his statement? Is he telling the truth? SOURCE: http://slicereports.com/blog/2015/07/31/i-am-not-expecting-any-ministerial-appointment-from-pres-buhari-pastor-tunde-bakare/ |

Vanguard reported that a middle-aged man, identified as Chuks from Imo State died after consuming 20 sachets of gin in a N500 bet with a woman. Chuks, a barber, who resides along Ngwa Road area of Abia State, is married and has a child. As usual, he had gone to a nearby local shop situated within the area to take a sachet of his usual brand of gin before an argument ensued between him, the shop owner and other customers in the shop over if he could finish 20 sachets of the drink. The argument as it was learnt, reached a stage where the deceased deposited N500 and the shop owner also placed her own N500 in a bet. Chuks who had boosted, consumed the sachets of drinks and went away with the bet money. He got home and complained to his wife of stomach pains and asked her to put on their sitting room ceiling fan and sat directly beneath it. His condition got worse and when his wife asked, he told her he was okay but just needed a rest. But, before help could come, Chuks died. ************************************ Chai! It is a pity but the man is simply a fool. I am sorry but that is the best way to describe someone who allowed pride to take advantage of him. Apparently, it was ‘pride of a man’ and not necessarily the money that led to the bet. *sighs* Anyways, RIP. Source: http://slicereports.com/blog/2015/07/27/soyinka-knows-more-about-wine-tasting-than-politicsobasanjo/ Obasanjo and Soyinka, both in their 80’s, have had a long love/hate relationship…always coming for each other at the slightest opportunity. The latest person to come for the other is Obasanjp. Speaking to Channels TV’s ‘Book Club’ yesterday, where he was interviewed about his controversial book ‘My Watch’ where he also trashed Soyinka, Obasanjo said what he wrote about the literary icon in his book was purely his view and that Soyinka did not have to agree with him. “Wole Soyinka is a gifted man. I have always acknowledged that but he is a bad politician and I have also always said that. That is my own point of view. He may agree with it, he may not agree with it. But having said that, I also, in my book, bring out Wole Soyinka as I see him and that’s my own judgment; that’s my own perspective of him. He may agree, he may not agree but anybody can bring out his own perspective of me. For instance, I know that if I want somebody to give me the best wine, one of the people I will go to is Wole Soyinka and I know he has a taste for good wine and I said that in the book.” he said. Continue to see what OBJ wrote about Soyinka that ticked him off “For Wole, no one can be good, nor can anything be spot-on politically except that which emanates from him or is ordained by him. His friends and loved ones will always be right and correct, no matter what they do or fail to do. He is surely a better wine connoisseur and a more successful aparo (guinea fowl) hunter than a political critic.”

According to The Nation , some of President Buhari’s confidants and leaders of the sect group are currently engaged in negotiation. If you recall, Pres. Buhari while speaking with CNN’s Christine Amanpour last week, had said that his government will negotiate with the sect for the release of the Chibok girls. A source who spoke on the recent development said “The President’s appeal for peace in the Northeast is yielding dividends because a fresh facilitation of talks between the Presidency and Boko Haram has started. This latest negotiation, which is at the preliminary stage, is being promoted by some mutual confidants of the Presidency and Boko Haram. The new deal may lead to the release of some Chibok girls to set the tone for a comprehensive negotiation by both sides. The President is extremely cautious on this offer of negotiation. Buhari has ordered security agencies to screen or certify those Boko Haram commanders interested in facilitating this latest negotiation to ensure that they are bonafide leaders of the sect. The position of the President is that why he is not averse to a peace deal, the Federal Government must avoid the costly mistakes of the past which led to a waste of time and huge resources. The President wants the release of the Chibok girls and quick restoration of peace to the Northeast; he is ready to negotiate with the right people for sustainable results.” But there are strong indications that the leader of the sect, Imam Abubakar Shekau, is yet to be involved in the new deal. “I think we are still at the preliminary stage. At the right time, there is a way the negotiation offer will be forwarded to their leader. But the fact that some Boko Haram commanders, whom US placed ransom upon, might be part of the negotiation shows that the crisis can be resolved, if all hands are on deck, “ another source said. This is sad. I am sure; everyone in the house knows who Bobbi Kristina is. If you don’t ok, she is the daughter of Late Legendary American Singer, Whitney Houston and Bobbi Brown. Bobbi Kristina Brown died six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub and just in similar circumstances that led to her mother’s death. Whitney Houston aged 48, who died three years ago, was also found in a bathtub at a hotel in Beverly Hills. The aspiring singer was rushed to hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma on January 31 after she was discovered face-down in the water-filled tub at her townhouse in Roswell, Georgia. She passed away, surrounded by her family, at the hospice on Sunday. Officials are planning to treat the death of Bobbi Kristina, who was found in the tub with bruises on her face and body, swollen lips and a missing tooth, as a murder investigation. The person of interest in the case will reportedly be her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, her boyfriend and adopted brother. The Houston family said on Sunday night that Bobbi Kristina ‘is finally at peace in the arms of God.’ In a statement via a representative, they said: ‘Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.’ She would be buried next to her mum. **************** *Crying* what a sad ending for ‘mum’ and ‘daughter’! May she rest in peace…Amen! Source: http://slicereports.com/blog/2015/07/27/bobbi-kristina-brown-dies-at-22/

PDP senators have in a statement released on Friday by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi warned the Federal Government against using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to intimidate them, vowing to resist such attempt. They asked President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that some people do not use his name to misuse state machinery in fighting their perceived political opponents in the guise of waging anti-corruption war. The statement reads: “As much as we are not against the anti-corruption agencies performing their statutory duties, the invitation by EFCC to the wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, clearly indicated that the threat by a group within the National Assembly to use all means to fight the National Assembly leadership is now being carried out. “Nigerians should ask the EFCC what it was waiting for all this while before realising that it would need to invite Mrs. Saraki when she left the Government House with her husband in 2011. And why should the invitation come a few days after a senator threatened that his group would bring the senate president down? “We also think that the same witch-hunt that the wife of the senate president is suffering now is the same thing happening to his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who the police have been disturbing. But at the right time, we will jointly make our opinion known on the harassment of our leaders.” The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Friday said the invitation of Mrs. Toyin Saraki, wife of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was politically motivated. However, during a media briefing in Ilorin after the state APC’s executive meeting, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Fulani, described the EFCC’s invitation as a calculated attempt to dent the image of the senate president and his wife. He cautioned EFCC to avoid being used for political vendetta. Balogun-Fulani said, “The EFCC’s invitation of Mrs. Saraki was a shock to the APC in Kwara State because five years after her husband left office as the governor, the anti-graft agency thought it wise to invite his wife for questioning.
