AgricultureThe 60-second Trick That Turns Backyard Waste Into Animal Gold! by slimjimmy(op): 9:01pm On Jun 24
‎### 🚀 The 60-Second Trick That Turns Backyard Waste into Animal Gold! ⏱️🐛
‎Hey Facebook family! As a man who has spent a while in agriculture, I usually write long, boring academic papers. But today, I’m putting the textbooks away to share a mind-blowing secret that will make your wallet very, very happy.

‎Let's play a game. Read this in 60 seconds, and I promise it could change your farm forever. Ready? Go! 👇

‎⏱️ **Seconds 0–10: Meet Your New Best Friend**
‎Say hello to the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larva. Yeah, it looks like a chubby little cream-colored worm. But don’t scream! It doesn’t bite, it doesn't buzz, and it doesn't carry diseases. It has one job: working 24/7 to make you rich.

‎⏱️ **Seconds 11–20: The Ultimate Trash-Eater**
‎You know those slimy mango peels, leftover cassava, market waste, and vegetable scraps you throw away? To these larvae, that's a five-star, all-you-can-eat buffet! They eat your garbage for free.

‎⏱️ **Seconds 21–30: The Magical Transformation**
‎In just two weeks, those tiny larvae eat so much trash that they blow up like balloons, packed with 40–45% pure, premium protein. You harvest them, dry them, and crush them up. Boom! You just made organic farm gold.

‎⏱️ **Seconds 31–40: The Animal Feast**
‎* **Chickens:** Will scratch and dance for them like they found buried treasure! 🐓
‎* **Fish:** Will zoom through the water chasing them like frantic prey! 🐟
‎* **Pigs:** Will happily gobble them down like gourmet delicacies! 🐖
‎And it's not just for animals! In places like the Netherlands and China, scientists are turning clean BSF protein into high-tech, super-nutritious biscuits and snacks for humans. It's literally the future of food!

‎⏱️ **Seconds 41–50: Fat Animals, Fatter Wallet**
‎Instead of giving all your money to expensive feed companies, replace 30% of your regular feed with your homemade BSF meal. Your feed bills will instantly drop, your animals will stay super healthy, and your profit margins will explode.

‎⏱️ **Seconds 51–60: Your Move!**
‎You don’t need a giant factory or millions in the bank. All you need is a plastic basin, some fruit scraps, and a little bit of consistency. Start small, learn the ropes, and watch your bank account grow!

‎### 🎥 The 60-Second Mental Movie
‎Close your eyes and picture this:
‎1. A small plastic bin full of happy, wriggling larvae.

‎2. Your chickens fighting over the nutrient-packed BSF meal.

‎3. You, looking at a beautifully tiny feed bill and smiling from ear to ear!

‎### 🌍 The Big Global Picture
‎This isn't a crazy experiment—the entire world is doing it right now:
‎* **China & Netherlands:** Making high-end insect snacks and food additives. ✅

‎* **USA & Europe:** Using BSF for premium, luxury pet food. ✅

‎* **Nigeria:** Smart farmers using it to crush production costs *right now*. ✅

‎The world is moving forward. Are you going to sit on the sidelines, or are you ready to jump in?

‎### 🐛 Your 60-Second Challenge!
‎1. Go out and watch your animals eat today.

‎2. Imagine how nice it would feel to feed them something way cheaper that makes them grow even bigger.

‎3. **Comment "60"** right below this post!

AgricultureThe Intimacy Between Your Pigs And The Black Soldierfly Larvae by slimjimmy(op): 2:48am On Jun 24
‎**The intimacy between your pig and your bugs!

Feeding LIVE Black Soldier Fly larvae to your pigs is actually a biological cheat code—but if you do it wrong, you’ll ruin your meat!

Here is the simple 2-minute trick to crushing your feed costs using squirmy, fresh larvae. Read below, tag a pig farmer, and let's get sharing! **
‎### ** The Main Post (Simple, Fun & Easy to Read)**

‎## The Lazy Farmer’s Guide to Feeding LIVE Bugs to Pigs (Without Ruining the Pork!)

‎If you are lucky enough to have a big pile of **live, squirmy Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae**, congratulations! You are holding nature's ultimate pig superfood.
‎Pigs absolutely *love* live bugs. The wiggling triggers their inner wild boar, turning mealtime into a fun treasure hunt. It cures their boredom and stops them from biting each other's tails. Plus, fresh bugs are packed with live enzymes and immune-boosting goodies that get lost when you dry them out.

‎But wait! You can't just dump a bucket of wet bugs into the pen and walk away. Live bugs are full of water and fat, so you have to play by the rules. Here is how to do it right:

‎### Rule #1: The "Water Weight" Trap
‎Live bugs are basically 70% water juice.
‎Because of this, **1 kg of dried bug powder has the same nutritional power as 4 kg of live, juicy bugs!** If you don’t feed enough weight, your pigs will stay skinny. If you feed too much, they'll get watery bellies.

‎### Phase 1: Teach Your Pigs to Hunt (Days 1–10)

‎ * **Days 1–3:** Throw just a small handful of live bugs **directly on the floor**—not in the food bowl. Let them snuffle around and find them. It's like an easter egg hunt for pigs!

‎ * **Days 4–7:** Throw about a cup of bugs (100g–150g) **on top of their regular food** in the trough. They’ll eat the bugs and the feed together.

‎ * **Days 8–10:** Work your way up to the full daily target.

‎### Phase 2: The Daily Bug Menu
‎Once your pigs are bug-eating experts, use this daily math trick based on how much regular food they eat:
‎ * **If a pig eats 2 kg of dry food a day:**

Give them **300g to 400g of LIVE bugs**.

‎ * **If a pig eats 3 kg of dry food a day:** Give them **450g to 600g of LIVE bugs**.

‎** Top Tip:** Split the bugs into two meals—half in the morning and half in the evening. Toss 60% in their food bowl for nutrition, and scatter 40% on the floor to keep them playing and happy!

‎### Phase 3: The "Squishy Fat" Warning (Super Important!)

‎This is the ultimate secret of pig science. BSF bugs are very high in oil. If you feed too many live bugs to pigs that are about to go to market, **their bacon and pork fat will become soft, oily, and mushy.** No one wants mushy bacon!

‎ * **The Fix:** When your pigs hit the "Finisher Phase" (their last 4 weeks before market), **STOP feeding them live bugs.** Switch them back to 100% regular feed. This gives them time to clear out the bug oil, making their meat nice, firm, and high-quality!

‎### LET'S GET TALKING IN THE COMMENTS!

‎Let’s see who can do the math: **How many pigs do you have in your biggest pen right now?

Drop the number of pigs below, and we will reply directly with exactly how many kilograms of live bugs you need to harvest for them every day!

‎## Group 1: "Wait, What IS BSF?" (Beginner-Friendly Hooks)
‎*We start at the very beginning—no jargon, no assumptions. Just clear, friendly answers to the questions you've been too shy to ask.*

‎---

‎# What If I Told You a Tiny Bug Can Cut Your Feed Bill by 30%?

‎Let's be real for a second.

‎You wake up early. You feed your chickens, your fish, or your pigs. You clean the pens, check the water, watch for sickness… and at the end of the month, you look at your feed bill and feel that sinking feeling in your stomach.

‎Because feed is expensive. And it keeps getting more expensive.

‎But what if I told you there's a quiet, proven way to cut that cost by up to 30%—without starving your animals, buying fancy machines, or leaving your farm?

‎The secret isn't a new chemical. It's not a government program. It's not even a secret.

‎**It's a tiny insect called the Black Soldier Fly (BSF).**

‎### Wait… a bug? Yes. But not the kind you swat.
‎BSF larvae look like small, fat worms. They don't bite. They don't buzz. They don't carry disease. Instead, they act like nature's recycling machines:

‎ They eat free organic waste—fruit peels, leftover vegetables, market scraps, cassava peels
‎ They grow fast—in just 10–14 days
‎ You harvest them, dry them, grind them into meal, and mix them into your regular animal feed

‎### How does this cut costs by 30%?
‎Think of it like this: instead of spending all your money on soybean meal or fishmeal, you grow your own protein at home. Research from universities and farms across Africa shows that replacing just 20–30% of conventional feed with dried BSF larvae keeps animals growing at the same speed—sometimes even better.

‎Fewer bags to buy. Less money leaving your pocket. Same (or better) results.

‎### Is it safe? Will animals actually eat it?
‎Yes—and yes. BSF larvae contain 40–45% crude protein, healthy fats, and natural compounds that support gut health and immunity. Chickens naturally scratch for insects. Fish hunt for moving food. Pigs love variety. Once they taste BSF, they often eat faster and stay healthier.

‎And no, it won't change the taste of your meat or eggs—studies confirm flavor stays normal.

‎### But wait—this isn't just for farm animals.
‎Think bigger. In China, BSF protein is being processed into nutritious biscuits for human consumption. In the Netherlands, people are exploring insect-based snacks as sustainable protein sources. And right here? BSF meal is already being used in premium dog food formulas—because pets deserve quality nutrition too.

‎This isn't science fiction. It's happening now. And you can be part of it.

‎### You don't need a laboratory. Just consistency.
‎All you need is a simple container, organic waste, and basic care: keep them warm (27–30°C), not too wet, and well-ventilated. Start small. Track your results. Mix 10% BSF meal into feed for a week, then slowly increase. Watch your feed bills drop. Watch your animals thrive.

‎Farming is hard work. You deserve tools that make it lighter, not heavier. BSF isn't about replacing everything you know. It's about adding a smart, low-cost helper to your routine.

‎If you're tired of watching feed prices climb while your margins shrink, this is your moment to try something that actually works.

‎**The future of farming isn't just about working harder. It's about working smarter.**

CrimeFRSC Gbongon Unit Fines Fsrmer N50, 000 For Making Videos by slimjimmy(op): 8:50am On Jan 29
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Gbongan Unit, were going to fine Jimi Adewemimo only N5,000 when he drove against a one-way lane, but when he began to film them for breaking traffic law themselves, they fined him an additional N50,000.

On the morning of October 29, 2025, Adewemimo, a Lagos resident and a farm owner, was travelling along the Ikire-Gbongan road en route to his farmland at Ede, Osun State, when he was stopped by FRSC officials at Gbongan for driving against a one-way lane.

In all sincerity, Adewemimo said, he was guilty as accused. He explained that the Ikire-Gbongan road was in bad condition and, to escape the road’s potholes, cars usually ply the one-way lane to have a more comfortable driving experience.

Shortly before the farmer was accosted, he had switched back to the normal lane.

“On the right side of the road where I was, I was stopped by an FRSC officer who asked for the necessary documents of the car, which I produced. Fire extinguisher and C-Caution sign also,” he said.

“Afterwards, he asked why I took one way and I explained the situation to him.”

They decided that he would pay a fine for violating traffic law. The FRSC officials also said that Adewemimo’s car would have to be impounded because he had “only photocopies of the car documents”.

“I said, ‘No problem, simply just to pay the fine. I don’t mind’,” he responded.

While the officer went to speak to his team leader, Adewemimo showed, by making a video, that stopping him was only selective justice, as other travellers drove on the same one-way lane without the FRSC interrupting them.

But this wasn't the video that angered them

“We eventually left for the Gbongan office of the FRSC. On our way, I noticed that the FRSC vehicle didn’t have its complete brake lights, and I made a video of the default,” the farmer said.

Upon getting to the Gbongan office, the car was parked and I was asked to give them the car keys. I disagreed with them over handing over the keys.”

Afterwards, the FRSC officials handed him the statutory N5,000 ticket fine for route violation.

When the FRSC car was heading out again, Adewemimo said, he recorded another video. While he was recording, the unit’s head of operation, tried to seize his phone

FRSC Gbongan Unit Fines Farmer N50,000 for Filming Officials’ Traffic Violation
Published 10th Jan, 2026

By Akinjide Adebowale

“These are cars taking one way. You can see them (FRSC officials) letting them go.”
But this particular video was not what angered them.

“We eventually left for the Gbongan office of the FRSC. On our way, I noticed that the FRSC vehicle didn’t have its complete brake lights, and I made a video of the default,” the farmer said.

“Upon getting to the Gbongan office, the car was parked and I was asked to give them the car keys. I disagreed with them over handing over the keys.”

Afterwards, the FRSC officials handed him the statutory N5,000 ticket fine for route violation.

When the FRSC car was heading out again, Adewemimo said, he recorded another video. While he was recording, the unit’s head of operation, tried to seize his phone.

“When I refused to release my phone to him, he told the person issuing the ticket to print me another ticket called ‘DDT’. When I asked what it meant, he refused to answer me,” Adewemimo recounted.

“I ended up collecting another ticket of N50,000 and the officer who printed the ticket wrote ‘He was doing video’ on it.”

The officers pushed him out of their office premises, Adewemimo told FIJ, but he remembered that he needed to fetch his wallet from his car, which was already impounded in their compound. The FRSC officials first denied him access.

At this point, he brought out his device again to record his ordeal, and it was only after then that the unit commander allowed him to retrieve his wallet, but at the same time ordered that his car tyres be deflated.

Adewemimo told FIJ that when he returned after paying the fines, he saw that the officials had deflated his tyres. When he began filming the illegality, they went rough on him this time.

While doing the video, I got attacked by an official. He hit my phone out of my hand and tried to take the phone off me forcefully,” the farmer narrated.

He also picked a 2-by-6 plank and attempted to hit me with it. When I stood my ground and told him to hit me with the plank and see, he dropped the plank and continued hitting and pushing me.

“With about 15 officers surrounding me, another officer tried dragging the phone from me again from behind, but because I had a strong grip, he couldn’t take it. I had to hide the phone in my pocket while the initial officer, who I came to understand was the unit commander of Gbongan kept attacking me.

“He forced me out of the premises, took the printout proof of the payment I had made and still refused to release the car. He then told one of his officers to give me a form for mental evaluation which I told him I wouldn’t do.”

On October 30, it took the efforts of a family member, a senior official in the FRSC, before the Gbongan unit commander released the car.

Adewemimo explained to FIJ that on the day he got his car back, he found out from his name tag that the unit commander was ‘Jude Odinfono’.

Odinfono tied the condition of releasing the vehicle to an undertaking stating that the Adewemimo will not post any of the videos he had recorded, a term he had to compulsorily adhere to in writing.

“I simply wrote the undertaking because I had already made the post online and I needed to get the car back so I could drop off the things I was carrying,” the Lagos resident said.

In total, he parted with N61,000: N5,000 for a traffic violation, N50,000 for an unexplained ‘DDT’ and an extra N6,000 as charges for payment.

On Friday, FIJ called the FRSC Gbongan Unit but the line did not connect. The call was followed by an SMS and an email to the unit with the FRSC main enquiry email address in copy. None has got a response at press time.

FIJ also called the FRSC’s official enquiry line, and after relaying all the information to the respondent who identified herself as ‘Anabelle’, she promised to follow up with case and revert on January 13.

A few minutes later, Anabelle called back to say that her boss told her that FIJ should write a letter to the Osogbo sector commander and the Gbongan zonal commander (Odinfono himself), and also send the letters to these commanders in person to ensure that they receive them.

When asked if she would still provide any further update on January, she said no.

So, what part isn't true? I can tell you categorically that it is not hearsay nor 3rd party information. It is first hand information.... Unfortunately, i didn't make the video where tractors are busy destroying people's farms without any compensation being paid... It is so messed up, such that the Nigerian army has revoked the land they initially wanted to cede to the government for the proposed airport

The same adeleke that is destroying large farm lands since last year for a proposed airport that is not viable economically?

The same adeleke that has not paid a single compensation to these farmers.

The same Adeleke that has not been able to apply wisdom to resolve the issue of local government chairmen?

He has removed food from the mouth of thousands and he sleeps Peacefully

For those who don't know, the elites of osun state, (not politicians) are disappointed

Oshogbo is 1hr 30 mins away from Ibadan.
That cleared, osun state doesn't need an airport. How many people in sound state travels by air. Even Ibadan airport that was opened in 1982, has been dormant, with festus keyamo approving its upgrade to international.

So, with wasted tax payers money, the government will start a project and not finish it.

With over 29 airports in Nigeria, only 6 are viable. Of which only 3 are international standards

So, why waste money building an airport that won't be viable economically and add more burden to FAAN and other aviation organizations?

After building, you will hand it over to the Federal parastatal that is already having problems with nonviable airports

Look at Ilorin, how many flights take off from there? Look at Ibadan too. Only Lagos and abuja seen to keep up the pace

Pootle:
not all state need an airport an airstrip may sound better, ibadan have an airport already which is less than 30min drive to osogbo

As I speak to you, catapillars are presently uprooting palm trees at ponpola area of Ede, where the proposed airport is to be situated.

Even the farmers there are not in support of the proposed airport, because it is not viable economically.

I believe the governor has lost his way as he is just a puppet governor.

Farmers who couldn't get jobs from their handwork, moved into the farm to make a living and the crazy state government wants to chase them off.

Is an airport the next thing for osun citizens?

When our governor has misplaced priorities he is just a puppet. Osun state had become a state venture for the Adeleke family to milk freely.

To make matters worse, they are into land acquisition and relocating it to themselves.

Having the worst IGR in south west, they intend acquiring almost 4,000 hectares of land for a proposed airport, dumping the previous one at iddo osun.

They intend chasing about 150 families from their farmland, just so that they can acquire for their selfish interest.

I'm ashamed to be from the same Ede as these people

I spoke to a retired army general about this development and he was highly disappointed.

His words were "is airport the next thing to do?".

Too many problems facing osun state. Even the governor is becoming a torn in his own home town with a lot of people hoping he doesn't win a second term.

To make matters worse, the king is having so many court cases of land grabbing. He is intent on selling whatever he can at the expense of the locals.

Who will come to the aid of these unprivileged people who chose to stand by their own but are being oppressed?

With Ibadan airport bring upgraded to international airport and akure airport being in use, how many people would actually use the proposed airport in osun state.

With Ibadan being the sit of power of the old western region, the Ibadan airport which was commissioned I June , 1982 by Joseph wayas has always been a shadow of itself with little to no activities. Ibadan has a massive commercial hub couldn't make use of its airport very well.

I can't help but wonder what use the proposed airport will be useful for in Ede, osun state.

Former governor Aregbesola turned the airport at iddo osun to a cargo airport almost a decade ago and till date, it is not functioning.

How can a governor be so insensitive to the plight of its people.

Yes, development must be made, but what about the timing? There are major crisis in the country and all the dancing governor is thinking of is chasing hundreds of farmers from their land, so as to build an airport that can never be beneficial to the state in anyway, except for the upper class who can afford to land private jets there.

What a shame.

Very disheartening. Just read about abike dabiri begging people in diaspora to come back home. Come back to do what?

A woman bought 10 acres of land to farm earlier this year. Govt says they are not paying for the land, what advise would one give such a woman if she has another chance to travel out or buy another farm land?
Nairaland GeneralBuilding A Airport At Such A Time? Priorities Displaced. by slimjimmy(op): 5:21am On Oct 21, 2024
So, with the whole problems lined out facing Nigeria as a whole, osun state government has decided to build an airport.

A welcomed idea, but a very bad timing.

At a time when we face food crisis and Niger republic stops export of grains to Nigeria, where people can hardly feed and artisans can't find jobs.

These set of artisans, not wanting to be a nuisance to their country chose to go into farming to make ends meet, until the economy improves.

Our dear osun state government now feels it is proper to acquire these lands for an airport (which is a very wrong timing).

The government should be thinking of how to provide fertilizers, transport and general logistics to these people. But unfortunately, only the rich is considered.

Also, the land acquisition is too big for an airport. Comprising of two local governments being involved.

Notice is been given, but no plan has been put in place to know the exact area of land being acquired.

To make matters worse, the land owners are yet to do survey on these lands, hence the government winy be paying for the land.
As the government will only pay for crops such as cocoa, plantain, kola, pal kernel fruits e.t.c.

For those who have corn, pepper, tomatoes and yearly plant farms, they will get nothing.

Now, the king of this village is laying claims to be the over of all lands and the owner of all palm fruits, hence he intends on collecting money for all palm kernel trees on the vast hectares of land.

What will happen to the over 1,000 people that farm on this land?

By the time the government pays peanut, what will these farmers gain?

I experienced something a few days back. So, it was believed that the osun state ministry of land and acquisition would be coming to count the valuables on each land. No plan, nothing.

To my surprise, the population of people who came for their family land to be counted at a particular area was too much.

I couldn't help but wonder how much each person will get if the government eventually pays off.

I believe the government needs to do more for its citizens than just giving more problems.

I spoke to a retired army general about this development and he was highly disappointed.

Attached is just one document after the ministry of lands were asked for notification to the public ... No plan available. The attached document shows only a portion of what is planned on being acquired
