The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has transferred Colonel Ojogbane Adegbe, a former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to erstwhile President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to the military after detaining and interrogating him for about two weeks over the whereabouts of the over $47 million he received from embattled former NSA, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

A usually credible source familiar with the development told THEWILL Friday that Adegbe, who filed a N100m wrongful detention suit against the EFCC Wednesday, was released to the Nigerian Army authorities on Friday morning.

Investigators say the cash Adegbe collected from Dasuki, was diverted from a Crude Oil Signature Bonus Account domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria.

THEWILL gathered that the senior officer told investigators that he handed the funds over to another former key aide of the ex-President, Waripamowei Dudafa, who served as a special adviser on domestic affairs to the former leader. Dudafa has since absconded and is believed to be hiding in the Middle East or the Caribbean Islands.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren could not immediately confirm Adegbe’s transfer to the army. He said he would crosscheck and revert to us, but hadn’t done so as at the time of publishing.

Army’s spokesman, Colonel S.K. Usman could also not confirm the development. “I have no idea… I am in Maiduguri,” he said in an SMS.

Relative Kidnapped With Jonathan’s Uncle Found Dead


According to local reports from witnesses, the body of the relative, identified as Samuel Oki, 35, was found floating on Otuoke river, on Friday, two days after the abduction.

Armed gunmen had on Wednesday abducted, for a second time, 72-year-old Chief Inegite Jonathan, the former president’s uncle and foster father, but the kidnap of the relative, Mr. Oki was not immediately noticed.

With the discovery of his decomposing body, fears have been heightened over the safety of pa Jonathan, whose status was still unknown by Friday afternoon.

Reports indicated that the body had been deposited at a morgue in the area while sympathisers have started visiting the Otuoke residence and neighbourhood of the Jonathans.

The news has been confirmed by the police spokesperson for Bayelsa State, Asini Butswat while the kidnappers have yet to establish any contact with the family since Wednesday.

Nigerian authorities have arrested Colonel Ojogbane Adegbe, a former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to former President Goodluck Jonathan over an issue we are yet to ascertain as at press time.

A usually credible source familiar with the development informed THEWILL of the arrest Wednesday.

The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has opened a wide investigation into how billions of dollars in state funds were allegedly siphoned by officials of the last administration.

Calls to Colonel S.K. Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, on Wednesday night were unanswered. But the spokesman later responded to THEWILL SMS, texting, “I have no idea” to our question on the arrest of the senior officer.

Also, calls to EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren were neither acknowledged nor returned before this update.
