pritypeety:
hehe Nigerian IT specialist grin
u upgrade from home premium to what? don't get it because u said u don't want to restore ur system back to home premium
did he erase d home premium from ur system or what?
until u explain better then i will understand because i don't see the relationship with upgrading and scanning. i think i can help if u don't downgrade me
I said i upgraded to vista ultimate. Of course the home premium would go off.

Ex Inferis:
you probably used a scanner cd driver not meant for vista

there was no need to upgrade to ultimate; all versions of vista contain the same hardware support.

to restore your system, either get on the net and allow windows update to check online for your drivers, or download HP's recovery tool from HP support to recover from your recovery partition.
The scanner cd is meant for vista, and it is clearly written on it. Its a HP photosmart series, scanner, copier and printer. And my system was printing with it, but not scanning. Before buying the home premium tablet pc, I was formerly using a home basic, and i could scan with it. So i was under the impression that all vista home premiums don't scan. That was why i upgraded to ultimate. Anyone using a vista home premium should please try scanning lets see if it goes.

Well i'll try and check online for the drivers, but i must confess i'm not good in that area.
Thanks

Please I need assistance here. I use a HP tablet pc, Vista Home Premium. But the thing doesn’t scan documents when I connect to a scanner. So bought a genuine vista ultimate at a shop in Abuja and gave the IT guy there to upgrade it. Now the issue is that the appearance of the screen has changed, and I can’t even adjust the brightness. Also the webcam and fingerprint are no longer working. The guy has tried to install drivers even from the websites. But he doesn't seem to be making headways.

Please what do I do. Can anyone suggets somebody in Abuja who can help? Can the drivers be gotten from the recovery discs without restoring my system back to home premium? Advance thanks.

AutosRe: Police Permit For Tinted Cars by smartkid(m): 9:36pm On Sep 19, 2007
I did my tint permit at Force Headquarters (Louis Edet House) Abuja at the cost of N15k, through the assistance of my friend who knows somebody there (no official receipt given!). I don’t want to scan and post it to the public, but the permit contains my name, address, vehicle and chasis number and the make of the car. It’s signed by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police ‘B’ Department (Operations).

You are actually supposed to apply for it in writing and attach the relevant documents, originals for sighting. Mine is genuine, and I got it in 24 hrs. The permit is on police letter-headed paper and it contains a police telephone number and a reference number that could be verified. Whoever is in doubt can simply call the phone number and give the reference number for instant verification.

That’s the much I know, so I don’t know what obtains in other locations, nor do I know if the responsibility for issuing the tint permit has also been delegated to police stations.

TravelRe: Nigeria Passport Offices ? by smartkid(m): 11:35pm On Aug 08, 2007
The new e-passport is an ECOWAS passport, which looks pretty much like the old passport- same green color and size. But you know it is biometric, with lots of enhanced security features, most of which can only be read by automated passport reading machines. The e-passport contains embedded electronic chip and antenna, which stores a copy of your photo, fingerprint, and personal details. Thus the passport must not be bent in any way, exposed to excessive moisture, magnetic fields or microwaves. But they said it is designed to cope with normal wear and tear. You can’t staple any document (e.g your old passport) to the new passport, either in the front or the back cover page. If the passport gets damaged, it may prevent you from traveling, and you may need to get a replacement.

There is no way of changing or adding information to the e-passport. If any of your details change, for instance a change in marital status, you’ll have to apply for a new passport. Children can no longer be endorsed on a parent’s passport, so they must hold a passport of their own.

It is advisable to apply early. I am surely among the early applicants, as my passport number is in tens, i.e A000000xx (xx being the number grin grin grin)

The collection of passport is strictly by the applicant. The applicant has to thump print again during collection, and the thump print must match the one already on the chip, before the passport can be activated!

ernal,
I have collected my passport. And I was told at the immigration office that the e-passport is only available in Abuja currently, but that Lagos should commence next week.
