CareerWesley University, Ondo Lecturers Go On Strike by snyforch(op): 7:34pm On Jun 24, 2017
After owing staff 6-20 months salary with no substantive response from the church and a caricature successful accreditation exercise that puts the credibility of NUC as a watch-dog in doubt, the academic lecturers have chosen to embark on strike.
It is a shame that NUC can respond to institutions owing staff more than 6 months salaries since common sense tells us that hungry people cannot be efficient at their place of work.
It is also a shame that a church that pioneered post-secondary school missionary education in Nigeria can be owing 20 months salary.
Students have been deceived into thinking it is a mid-semester break by the authorities.
As a faith-based institution besieged by many problems it reflects the rot and ache in the church itself and the need to rescue our dying educational system.
Attached is the letter by the commitee of deans and response from the authorities.
