It started at a church event. I wasn't sleeping, I was scrolling through my emails just to stay stimulated and not fall into eternal sleep. Actively searching for something to keep my brain alive. That's when it hit me, this could actually be a solvable problem. I'd watched the same thing happen all through school. Half the lecture hall zoning out, not even like we were lazy, we just had dry lecturers and an environment that pulls you under and practically tucks you in. I figured there had to be a way to measure whether you're actually focused or just physically present. So I built one. FocusPulse sends random vibration alerts to your phone during meetings, lectures, deep work sessions, whatever you're doing. When you feel it, you tap "I'm Focused." Miss it and you zoned out. Simple. Honest. Impossible to fake. Your response rate and reaction time become a Focus Score out of 100. Track it over 7, 30, 90 days and you'll start to see patterns, when you focus best, which settings are hardest, whether you're actually improving. I built it over two months in post-graduation limbo waiting for NYSC callup, wetin this country never show me. Flutter, Firebase, background services, OMO!!, Android nearly broke me. Some phones kill background apps so aggressively the vibrations wouldn't even fire. Notifications were a nightmare. Google requires two weeks of closed testing before going public which annoyed me at first but the feedback actually improved the app. It's free. No account needed. No ads. If you sit through long meetings, lectures, church services or just want to know if your deep work sessions are real, try it.
